BaseStatin 1000 Irrigatin Cntrller Keeping a Pnd r Cistern Full If yu have a pnd r a cistern that is fed frm an external water surce, yu can use a Baseline bisensr sil misture sensr with yur Baseline cntrller t mnitr the water level in a pnd r cistern and turn n a valve when the water drps belw a specified level. Yu prgram the cntrller t turn ff the valve based n the time that it takes t refill the water. Perfrm the fllwing steps t use a bisensr t maintain the water level in a reservir: Step 1 Determine the acceptable lw water level in the reservir, and then calculate hw much time is needed t refill the reservir. Step 2 Install the bisensr in the reservir at the lw water level and wire it t the cntrller. Step 3 Prgram the cntrller t detect the lw water reading. Step 4 When the cntrller detects the lw water reading, prgram the cntrller t pen the valve fr the water supply and allw it t run fr the specified refill time. Step 1 Determining the acceptable lw water level in the reservir, and calculating refill time Determine hw lw yu want the water level t be when it needs t start refilling. Use the height f the water in the reservir rather than a measured quantity. Yu will psitin the bisensr in the tank at this level. When the reservir is at the refill level, turn n the water supply and recrd the amunt f time that it takes t fill. Step 2 Installing the bisensr in the Reservir Take nte f the serial number f the bisensr that yu are installing in the reservir. Yu will need this number when yu prgram the cntrller. Fr best results, psitin the bisensr vertically in the reservir. It desn t matter which end is up, but munt the sensr s the wires can be ruted ut f the reservir. Make sure that at least half f the bisensr blade is belw the water at the depletin level. IMPORTANT! When munting the bisensr, d nt drill r nail thrugh any part f the bisensr; it will vid the bisensr warranty. A suggested methd fr munting the bisensr is t install a ple in the reservir and attach the bisensr t the ple with zip ties. Munt the bisensr securely s it des nt mve. Variatins in the psitin f the bisensr will result in erratic behavir. Fllw the wiring instructins in the bisensr installatin guide t cnnect the bisensr t the tw-wire path r t the bisensr prts n the cntrller r n the pwered bicder. Make sure that yu maintain plarity n the wire cnnectins. Fasten the wiring with wire nuts, and then test cmmunicatin with the cntrller befre yu cmplete the installatin with waterprf cnnectrs. Step 3 Prgramming the Cntrller t Detect the Lw Water Reading Assign the bisensr 1. On the BaseStatin 1000 cntrller, press the Search & Assign buttn. The Search & Assign menu displays. 2. Press the r buttn t highlight the Misture Sensr ptin, and then press the OK buttn t select it. The Misture Sensr screen displays. 3. If the Device Assignment ptin is highlighted, press the OK buttn t select it. If Device Assignment is nt highlighted, press the r buttn t highlight it, and then press the OK buttn. The Misture Assignment screen displays. 4. When the Search ptin in the Actin clumn is highlighted, press the OK buttn t search fr bisensrs. When the cntrller finds the devices, their serial numbers display in the Actin clumn. 5. Press the r buttn t mve thrugh the list f devices in the Actin clumn. 7. Press the r buttn t mve thrugh the list. Highlight the number that yu want t assign the bisensr t. 8. Press the OK buttn. The serial number f the device that yu selected in the Actin clumn nw displays next t the number in the Misture Sensr clumn. Take a bisensr Reading 1. When the reservir is at the level where it shuld be refilled, press the Test buttn n the cntrller. The Test menu displays. 2. Press the r buttn t highlight the Test Misture Sensr ptin, and then press the OK buttn. The Test Misture Sensr screen displays. 3. Press the r buttn t select the bisensr that yu installed in the reservir. 4. Press the OK buttn t test the bisensr. Nte: If any znes r prgrams are running when the test is activated, watering will pause fr 10 minutes. The test results display the misture percentage. 5. Write dwn the misture reading. 6. Press the RUN buttn t return t the Run menu. Step 4 Prgramming the Cntrller t Open the Valve fr the Water Supply Designate a Valve and a Prgram t Fill the Reservir In rder t have the system perate nly the valve that fills the reservir, make sure that the bicder fr that valve is assigned as a single device in a prgram. 1. On the BaseStatin 1000 cntrller, press the Prgram Setup buttn, and then select the Zne Runtimes ptin. 2. On the Zne Runtimes screen, press the PRG buttn t select a prgram number that is nt used fr any ther watering. The Prgram number displays in the upper-left crner f the Zne Runtimes screen. 3. Press the buttn t highlight the serial number f the bicder fr the valve that fills the reservir, and then press the + r buttn t enter a runtime that is lng enugh t fill the reservir. 4. Remember this prgram number. Nte: If yu want the reservir t fill while ther znes are running, be sure t set the number f cncurrent znes fr the cntrller t allw fr this. Cnfigure the Start Cnditin 1. On the BaseStatin 1000 cntrller, press the Prgram Setup buttn. The Prgram Setup menu displays. 2. Press the PRG buttn until the prgram that yu set up fr the fill valve displays in the upper-left crner f the screen. Nte: T mve backwards in the list f prgrams, press and hld the PRG buttn, and then press the buttn repeatedly. 3. Press the buttn t highlight the Setup Prg. Start ptin, and then press the OK buttn. The Setup Prg. Start screen displays the list f start cnditins. 4. Press the buttn t highlight the Misture Start ptin, and then press the OK buttn. A checkmark displays next t the Misture Start ptin. 5. Press the buttn t cnfigure the misture start settings. 6. Ntice that the serial number fr ne f yur bisensrs is highlighted in the Misture field. If this is the serial number fr the bisensr that mnitrs the refill level in the reservir, n change is required. If yu need t use a different bisensr, press the + r buttn t select a different serial number. 7. Press the buttn t highlight the Limit field, and then press the + r buttn t enter the refill misture reading that yu wrte dwn frm the bisensr test. Nte: In the Limit field, the value in parentheses is the mst current reading frm the sil misture bisensr. Keep in mind that the bisensr is read every 10 minutes. 8. Press the buttn t highlight Less Than Limit, and then press the OK buttn. 9. Make sure Only n Day & Time is nt selected. 10. D nt start the Calibratin. 11. Press the RUN buttn t exit Prgram Setup. When the bisensr reading matches the value that yu entered in the Limit field, the cntrller will pen the valve t refill the reservir and run fr the amunt f time that yu cnfigured in the Zne Runtimes screen. Trubleshting If yu set up yur BaseStatin 1000 cntrller accrding t these instructins and yur system is nt wrking as expected, review the fllwing issues: Issue: The misture sensr is behaving erratically. Make sure that the misture sensr is securely munted in the reservir. If the water mvement in the reservir causes the sensr t mve, the sensr will behave erratically. Issue: The reservir is ver filling. Make sure that the run time fr the zne is accurate based n the fill rate. Make sure that the zne des nt have a run time in anther prgram. Issue: The reservir is ging dry. Make sure that the misture sensr didn t mve. Make sure the zne that is designated t fill the reservir is enabled. If there is a master valve n the water surce used t fill the reservir, make sure that the master valve turns n when the zne runs. Make sure that enugh water remains in the reservir belw the depletin level t allw time fr the cntrller t read the sensr and respnd.
