The Cloverbud program is for any youth in Canadian County ages 5-8. It is a non-competitive program that involves the members in fun educational programs designed to help them learn by doing and develop new skills and interests. Bucket Calf 4-H PLEDGE The 4-H Bucket Calf Project is designed to introduce youth to Beef and Dairy 4-H projects. By allowing younger children the experience of working with a smaller less intimidating size of animal, they become comfortable with these projects as they grow. This is designed to be a short-term project with calves having been acquired by July 1 and finalized with the showing at the county fair in August. Who: Ages 5-8 years old (day of show) What: A bucket calf is an orphan or newborn calf purchased when they are one day to ten days old. The calves may be male or female, beef or dairy. The calves are started on a bottle (or bucket) and nipple. Limit: Paperwork entries for up to 2 calves - May be dairy or beef, orphaned, male or female. (Only one bucket calf per person may be shown at the fair.) Purchase Date: The project calf must be purchased, leased or acquired by July 1, 2017. 4-H Extension Educator must be notified by same date as to participation in this program. Judging based on: Bucket calf classes are judged by conference method (personal interviews). The quality of the calf is not a consideration. The calf should be washed and dried. Rope halters only! NO CLIPPING, SHOW HALTERS, OR SHOW STICKS. Calf must be trained to lead in the show ring. No dressing or cutesy things! Calf should be washed and dried. Interview of exhibitor will be conducted in show ring with calf on rope halter. Questions may cover calf s care, health, expenses, and future plans. Ownership is not necessary. County Fair When: August 23rd-26th, 2017 Where: Fairgrounds, El Reno Varies Come join the fun and excitement at the fair. There will be a lot for you to do and see. There are animals to see and games to play. Feel Free to join in on the Pee Wee Show as well!! In the Educational Building there will be a special place for Cloverbud exhibits. Instructions for exhibits are available at the office. 4-H Has Talent When: December 6th, 2016 Where: First Christian Church El Reno 6:00 pm Share-the Fun is a talent show for kids like you. Do you like to sing, tell jokes, dance, or perform? This is a fun place to be. Come and see for yourself. Enter by turning in the 4-H Has Talent entry form in the newsletter to the Canadian County Extension Office. See you at the fair!!

We will have activities that will include workshops, games, and a chance to get close to the animals. Please wear something comfortable and join our fun filled morning!
