METS: The Braves and Mets play the second game of a three-game series tonight and the 18th of 19 meetings between the two clubs this season... Atlanta trails the season series, 8-9, but the Braves own a 5-2 mark at Citi Field this season (40-31 all-time). For the Braves, this the second game of a sevengame road trip to New York (1-0) and Miami (four games)...after an open date next Monday (Sept. 26), the Braves will play their last six games of the season at Turner Field against Philadelphia and Detroit. Atlanta posted a 7-3 win over the Mets last night and has won three straight games for the first time since they had a six-game winning streak, August 30-Sept. 4...Atlanta has won 11 of its last 19 games and is 15-12 since August 21. HIS KIND OF CITI: 1B Freddie Freeman has gone 15-for-29 (.517) in eight games at Citi Field this season and owns a.324 (69-for-213) average in 53 career games here, with 22 doubles, eight homers and 31 RBI. Freeman s 53 games played at Citi Field are a Braves franchise high in the park s nine-year history. Last night Freeman went 4-for-5 with a homer (#31), double and three RBI...It marked his fourth game this season with four-or-more hits (seventh of his career). EIGHT IS GREAT: The Braves have recorded eightor-more base hits in 19 straight games dating to August 30...This is the third-longest such streak in Atlanta history, after a 22-game streak that overlapped the 1969-70 seasons and a 20-game stretch in 1998. SECOND-HALF HITS: OF Ender Inciarte went 1-for-4 with a run last night...since the All-Star break, he is tied for the MLB lead with 89 hits and ranks T4th with 49 runs scored He is 17 hits shy of tying the Atlanta-era record for most hits following the All-Star break, held by Terry Pendleton (106 in 1991). KEMP S IMPACT: OF Matt Kemp has played in all 45 games for the Braves since joining the lineup on August 2 and has hit.296 (53-for-179) with eight home runs and 30 RBI...Five of those homers (including the last four) have either tied the game or given Atlanta a lead. Since Kemp joined the lineup, the Braves have scored 235 runs (5.2 per game) and have hit.283 as a team...they rank fourth in the majors in runs that stretch, while their team batting average is third. KEEPING IT IN THE PARK: Braves relievers have allowed a NL-low 41 home runs this season, including just one this month...since the beginning of August, the Braves bullpen has allowed a MLB-low seven home runs. RHP Mauricio Cabrera has begun his career with 35.2 homerless innings...his homerless streak is the sixth longest active streak in the NL. THE STREAKERS: Outfielders Matt Kemp (19- for-44,.431) and Nick Markakis (16-for-42,.381) have both hit safely in 11 straight games...kemp collected his 1,500th career hit on Friday and went 5-for-10 in the weekend series vs. Washington, while Markakis has hit three homers and driven in 11 runs during his streak. HANK & FREDDIE: With 31 home runs, 41 doubles and six triples, 1B Freddie Freeman is only the second player in Braves franchise history to record at least 30/40/5 in the same season...hank Aaron did it in 1959, when he established the franchise record of 92 extra-base hits in a season (39 homers, 46 doubles and seven triples). CAREER-HIGH STREAK: Freddie Freeman owns a career-high 39-game on-base streak, dating to August 6...He has posted a.380 batting average and a.497 OBP during the streak, which is the longest active run of its kind in the majors...his streak is the second longest on-base streak of the season, behind WSH s Jayson Werth, who fashioned a 46-gamer from June 20-August 18. Freeman s streak is the longest by a Braves player since Chipper Jones had a 41-game run in 2008. DATE OPP.
