The design is a symbol that is unique to a family. By the 13th Century, the traditional coat of arms began to be used as a type of logo or flag for families in the higher social classes of Europe and they would be inherited from one generation to the next. The Church, towns and universities all began developing unique coat of arms or crests which eventually became flags. When commercial companies started using crests, the modern-day logo was born. Does your family have a coat of arms? Use this template to create A coat of arms for your family! Send your entry to the address above for a chance to win a great prize! 4
