Student Review of French Pen Pal Visit On Thursday 5 th June, Year 9 were visited by their French pen pals who are all students at the Sainte Foy School near Bordeaux. Nearly thirty Phoenix students participated in the day; giving the visitors a guided tour of the school, visiting language lessons and indulging in some general chit-chat at break and lunch. There was even a football game between the English and French at lunch and in this case, France won by a considerable margin. Hopefully, this isn t a sign of what s to come in the upcoming World Cup. Students had to take on the continental welcome gesture of a kiss on each cheek, which was awkward for us Brits! Phoenix students had to communicate with the Sainte Foy students in French, and the French students gave presentations about their school in English. Overall it was a really successful day and everyone learnt a lot. English Group 9X1
