Recital Introduction Introduction This is the DMC Recital guide. There are a lot of components that go into staging a dance recital. We ask that you carefully go over this information for our Dance Recital 2018. If you have any questions please leave your questions in writing in the office with the desk staff for a recital coordinator to contact you. Or e-mail DMC with your question at DanceDMCLynchburg@gmail.com. THERE IS A LOT of information here which if read and practiced will continue to make our dance recitals fun, stress free, and enjoyable for all. Be sure to transfer all applicable dates/times to your calendar asap. Thank you & Enjoy the show experience. Why do you have 2 different shows? We break up our June Recital by separating the many routines into separate shows so they are all a pleasant 2-2.5 hours. The following are the dates and times of performances. Show 1 June 9, 2018 2:00 p.m. Show 2 June 9, 2018 6:00 p.m. What Shoes/tights Do I Need? To be sure that your dancer has the correct shoe style/color and tights color, please check the class dress code on our website at www.danceandmusiccreations.com. How do I do hair and make - up? HAIR: All dancers should have their hair put up securely into a bun. (start with a high ponytail or braid, continue by winding hair in a circle and pinning with u-shaped hair pins as you go, finish by wrapping a hairnet around the bun to secure tiny pieces. Hair spray and bobby pin all fly away hairs down securely. MAKE UP: start with a foundation or powder, rosy blush, berry colored lipstick, white shadow on brow bone, tan/peach on lid, dark brown or plum in the crease of eye making a v=shape to outer corner, black eyeliner top and bottom with a wing > < on the outside of the eye from corner to end of brow line, black mascara on lashes to finish. What If My Costume Doesn t Fit? Costumes are made to look great on stage and not made for everyday wear. Don t expect a costume to fit perfectly, because they are not custom made. They are general sizing of small, medium, large sizes to fit a range of children. If a costume is sizing is way off or needs a major alteration, we provide a seamstress. This needs to be approved through the office and taken care of before dress rehearsal so the costume will fit properly. Please do not make an appointment if all you need to do is shorten a hem. There are no hems in costumes-the pants are meant to be cut 3/4 inches above the ground (with shoes on). Costumes that are altered will be finished by dress rehearsal. Please note, once the first week of June has passed we will no longer be able to alter your costume. We also ask that you do not wear your costume and keep it hung or stored neatly until the show. ***costumes will be handed out in class 1-2 weeks prior to pictures. How do I care for my costume? Costumes should be hung up when they are not being worn. Most costumes are not washable so be sure dancers are not eating and drinking in the costume unless they are wearing a cover up. No underwear is worn with a costume (your tights replace your underwear). How do we get tickets? Tickets for the spring show are RESERVED SEATING. Ticket price is $12 during our two week pre-sale period, May 5 th through May 18 th. From May 19 th -June 8 th they will be $15 and $18 at the door. Tickets will go on sale, MAY 5, 2018 from 9a.m.-12p.m. at Dance and Music Creations in room A. Each family receives 2 free parent tickets to a show of their choice. All tickets are set up as reserved seating and YOU MUST COME CHOOSE YOUR OWN SEATS, including the free parent ticket. DMC 100 CLUB will purchase tickets on May 4 from 6:30-9 p.m. at DMC office for $10 a seat (this price is for May 4 only). **All seats are first come, first serve. **All children requiring a seat need a ticket for the show. How Can I Help? VOLUNTEER Parent volunteers are an essential piece of our show (plus it is so much fun)!!! We have several opportunities to sign up to help as a parent volunteer. We will be in need of dressing room moms, backstage crew, ticket takers/sales and check in helpers. The best way to help is to sign up for a show that your child is not participating in. Please fill out the volunteer form on our website if you are interested in helping with our show! You will receive an email

with information on where you are helping, scheduling and instructions within 2 weeks of the show. THANK YOU for your time, unity is strength.where there is team work and collaboration wonderful things can be achieved. WHAT IS A FINALE? At DMC the dancers perform in an all cast final routine at the end of the show in order to give them a chance to perform again as well as be part of a large production on stage. This year our theme is Dance the Dream and we ask the dancers to provide a simple bright colored t-shirt and black shorts. If you ordered a recital t-shirt, you can wear that t-shirt with black shorts. There will be Finale practices at the studio on Saturday May 19, Saturday June 2, and Tuesday June 5 May 19, June 2 at Dance and Music Creations Studio B 9:15-9:45 Twinkle, Shooting Stars 10-10:30 Rising Stars and pre-level 10:45-11:15 Jazz 1-2, ballet 1-2 11:30-12 Acrobatics 1 and 2 12-12:30 Ballet ¾ and Jazz 3/4 12-12:30 Tap 2 and Tap 3/4 (Studio A) 12:30-1 Hip Hop 1 and Hip hop 2 June 5 at Dance and Music Creations Studio B 5:30-6:00 p.m. Twinkle, Shooting Stars 6:15-6:45 Hip Hop 1 and 2 (Studio A) 6:15-6:45 Rising Stars and Pre-level 6:45-7:15 Tap 2 and Tap 3/4 (Studio A) 6:45-7:15 Ballet 1-2 and Jazz 1-2 7:15-7:45 Acrobatics 1 and 2 7:45-8:15 Ballet and jazz 3/4 What do I need to know about RECITAL REHEARSALS? Rehearsals allow the children to get acquainted with dancing with others, in a specific order, on stage and with an audience. This is an important piece of their performance experience and education. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend the following rehearsals as scheduled. We have rehearsals scheduled throughout the Month of May and June. Please be 10-15 minutes early for all rehearsals, we run a very prompt schedule and we will begin promptly at the time the rehearsal is set outside any technology challenges. FINALE REHEARSALS will be held at DMC May 19, and June 2,5 (see schedule above) Students will perform 1 final routine together as a full cast. This routine is learned during the finale rehearsal schedule.
