DANCE TEAM SEASONS Halftime Competitive Non-competitive Spirit based Performs pre-game and halftime at football games Styles include pom, jazz, kick, & hip hop Concludes at final home football game in October Designated as an activity at OHS IHSA competitions Performs pre-game and halftime at basketball games Competition dance styles include jazz and lyrical/contemporary Concludes at final home basketball game in February Designated as a sport at OHS Dancers may audition for EITHER season or BOTH.

COMPETITIVE EVALUATIONS Competition team over the summer will be no cut All dancers interested or thinking about participating in competitive season this year will go through an evaluation May 25-27 th 12-2 PM OHS Fieldhouse
COMPETITIVE EVALUATIONS At the end of evaluation week (May 27 th ) dancers will receive a score that will determine which team they will work with over the summer (JV or Varsity) This will not be a final determination of whether or not they will be on the competition team, team placement, or alternate positions

ALTERNATE POSITIONS (COMPETITIVE SEASON ONLY) Expected to dance during all components of practice every day Expected to attend all events on calendar Perform at all basketball games Exceptions: full dress rehearsal runs of competition routines before key competitions

Alternate positions are not permanent Injury Lack of effort/commitment Change in technical ability Prepared to be called on to competition floor at all times throughout season Bottom scores for each team will be put in the alternate position and notified at the post-audition meeting

TRYOUT REQUIREMENTS (Required for BOTH half. & comp. tryouts) Turn in a current physical to the OHS athletic office Turn in to Sarah Miller (athletic secretary) Register on 8to18 If either of the above items are not complete by the first day of tryouts you will not be able to dance until they are completed

Preference choices will in no way determine what team you are placed on or whether or not you are put in an alternate position If you have chosen that you would not accept a position on a team that your score falls on (or an alternate position) you will be cut Dancers who have earned floor spots (competitive season) will not be moved to an alternate position because they said they would accept it
For clinics: WHAT TO WEAR Clothes you can move in! Jazz pants/leggings, capris, shorts Tanks, short-sleeved fitted shirts, leotards Solid colors are best Please no Pantherettes gear at tryouts Jazz shoes or gym shoes No bare midriffs, baggy clothes, sweats, or bare feet For final audition: Same as above but BLACK clothing only Hair should be pulled back
TRYOUT NOTES Being a previous member of the Pantherettes Dance Team (JV or Varsity) in NO WAY guarantees placement on the team Every candidate will go through the same audition/selection process In addition to ability, each candidate s cooperation, effort, attitude, and general character will be considered during tryout week.
