FIXIE STEP BY STEP BUILD GUIDE TOOLS 1. 15mm Box Wrench 2. 15mm Pedal Wrench 3. 4mm, 5mm and 6mm Allen Keys 4. Grease 5. Gloves (optional) 6. Scissors/Clippers 1 7. Air Pump Compatible with Presta Valves

LET S GET STARTED a. Cut and remove the white straps around the box. b. Pop open the top lid of the box (if your box has staples, be mindful of them). c. Carefully pull your bicycle out of the box. d. Grab your clippers and get ready to remove some zip ties (be mindful to not scratch your bike). e. First, cut all zip ties off from the front wheel and carefully slide the front wheel off of the crank arm. f. Remove all cardboard and plastic covers from the front wheel. g. Next, cut all zip ties off of the accessory box and stem on the front of the fork. h. Finally, cut all zip ties off of the handlebars and turn the fork around so it s facing forward. i. Remove packaging material from the stem and handlebar. 2

INSTALLING THE HANDLEBAR a. Grab your 4mm Allen Key and unscrew the 4 bolts from the stem s faceplate. b. First, align the handlebar into place on the stem. c. Next, make sure the brake levers on the handlebar are facing away from the bike and that the brake cables are crossed. d. Finally, using your 4mm Allen Key, loosely tighten the stem s faceplate so that it gently holds the handlebar in place. (make sure the handlebar is centered evenly across the stem. We will fully tighten the handlebar later). 3

INSTALLING THE FRONT WHEEL a. First, remove all packaging material from the front of the fork. b. Next, loosen the axle nuts on the front wheel and place the wheel into the fork. c. Finally, being mindful that the wheel is centered between the fork, tighten the axle nuts with your 15mm wrench. 4

ALIGNING THE STEM a. While standing over your bike, take your 5mm Allen Key and loosen both pinch bolts on the backside of the stem. b. Next, align the stem to the center of the front wheel, making sure the stem and front wheel are both parallel when viewed from atop. c. Finally, tighten the stem s pinch bolts. d. Untie/cut the string holding the crank to the rear wheel. 5

INSTALLING THE SEATPOST a. Get started by applying a small amount of grease into the mouth of the seat tube. b. Next, insert the seatpost into the seat tube. c. Now set the seatpost to your desired height, making sure the seat is parallel and aligned to flat ground. d. Finally, tighten the seatpost clamp with your 5mm Allen Key. 6

OPTOMIZING THE BRAKE PADS a. Loosen the brake pad bolt with your 4mm Allen Key. b. Align the brake pad so that it is in line with the braking surface of the rim of the wheel. c. Now, squeeze the corresponding brake lever so that the brake pad is held into place on the rim. d. Finally, tighten the brake pad bolt into place. e. Simply follow the same steps for all the remaining brake pads. 7

PREPARING PEDALS FOR INSTALLATION a. First, remove packaging material from the frame. b. Next, open your accessory box and remove the pedals. c. Finally, lightly grease the pedal threads. 8

INSTALLING THE PEDALS a. Take note that the pedals are marked R and L for the right and left sides, respectively. b. First, insert the right pedal (the pedal marked R ) into the crank arm on the right (drive) side. c. Now slowly and gently turn the pedal spindle in a CLOCKWISE motion until the spindle catches the crank arm. d. Finally, use your Pedal Wrench to fully tighten the spindle. (do not over tighten or you will strip your pedals) e. Repeat the same process for the left pedal, this time turning your spindle in a COUNTERCLOCKWISE motion instead. (note: left hand pedal has reverse threads) 9

INFLATING THE TIRES a. First remove the valve cap. b. Then unscrew the presta valve nut. c. Now, insert your pump head onto the presta valve and inflate your tire between 90-100 PSI. d. Retighten the presta valve nut. e. Replace the valve cap. f. Repeat the same process on the rear wheel. 10

LET S FINISH UP THAT HANDLEBAR a. Find stable footing and sit on your bike. b. When you are balanced, place your hands on the handlebars and gently rotate the bars to your desired angle. c. Finally, tighten the stem s face plate with your 4mm Allen Key in an X shaped pattern, ensuring an even gap remains between the stem and the faceplate on the top and bottom, as you tighten. 11

FIXIE STEP BY STEP BUILD GUIDE OPTIONAL FIXED GEAR / FREEWHEEL INSTALLATION I WANT TO RIDE MY FIXIE OR URBAN TRACK MODEL AS A FIXED GEAR INSTEAD OF FREEWHEEL. HOW DO I DO THAT? Both our 6KU Fixie and Urban Track models can be ridden with your choice of freewheel or fixed gear (we ship them setup to freewheel) thanks to the flip-flop rear hub design. If you d like to ride fixed instead of freewheel, here s how to switch: 12

OPTIONAL FIXED GEAR/FREEWHEEL a. You ll need two optional tools that aren t pictured in this Build Guide: a chain whip and a lockring tool. b. Remove your rear wheel from the bike. c. The side of the rear hub with the fixed cog/lockring has two separate sets of threads on it - the first, closest to the middle of the hub, has righthand (i.e. normal ) thread and accepts the fixed cog. The second, closest to the outside of the hub, has left-hand (i.e. reverse ) thread and accepts a lockring. The lockring stops the cog from threading off when you attempt to skid, pedal backwards, etc. d. Use your lockring tool and turn the lockring clockwise to remove it. Set aside. 13

e. Use your chain whip and turn the fixed cog counter-clockwise to remove it. Set aside. f. Apply bicycle grease to the threads on the hub, fixed cog, and lockring. 14

g. Install the cog by turning it clockwise. Tighten with your chain whip until you reach a hard stop. h. Install the lockring by turning it counter-clockwise and tighten until it stops against the fixed cog. i. Re-install the rear wheel and go ride. j. Fixed cogs can tighten even further through pedaling action the first time you ride the bike, so it s a good idea to re-tighten the lockring after your first ride. 15
