Eligibility & Registration S/No Category Clarification 1 Individual Youth 14 to 21 years old, born between 1997 to 2004 (year inclusive) 2 Individual Masters 35 years old to 54 years old, born from 1983 onwards (year inclusive) 3 Individual Masters 55 years old and above, born from 1963 onwards (year inclusive) 4 Team Youth 14 to 21 years old, born between 1997 to 2004 (year inclusive) Team of minimum of 2 persons and maximum of 4 persons 5 Team Masters 35 years old and above, born from 1983 onwards (year inclusive) Team of minimum of 2 persons and maximum of 4 persons 6 Team Masters 55 years old and above, born from 1963 onwards (year inclusive) Team of minimum of 2 persons and maximum of 4 persons 7 *Corporate Individual 14 years old and above, born from 1997 onwards (year inclusive) 8 *Corporate Team 14 years old and above, born from 1997 onwards (year inclusive) Team of minimum of 2 persons and maximum of 4 persons 9 Individual Open 22 to 34 years old, born between 1984 to 1996 (year inclusive) *Corporate Category is for participants representing Multi National Corporation (MNC), Small and Medium Entreprises (SME), Institute of Higher Learning (IHL), Clubs, Associations, Government Agencies and Unions. **Permanent residents and foreigners are welcome to participate with a condition of he/she must be have a residential address here. 3. Event Venue & Schedule 3.1 The event will be held across Singapore on 5 Aug 2018 with Start Points and Pit Stops at our designated 4 Sport Centres: Date Timing Flag Off Timing: 0800hrs to 1100hrs 5 Aug 2018 Ride Duration: 0800hrs to 1800hrs Note: above schedule may change once the entries are finalised 3.2 Ride route will consist of Park Connector Network (PCN) and road riding. 3.3 There will be Four (4) Sport Centres Pit Stops 1 S/N Zone Sport Centre 1 West Zone Jurong West Sport Centre (JW) 2 Central Zone Sports Hub (SH) 3 East Zone Paris Ris Sport Centre (PRS) 4 North Zone Woodlands Sport Centre (WLD) Table 1. Participating Sport Centres 3.4 Riders will be able to commence their Round Island Bike Adventure Towards SG100 (RIBA Towards SG100) from any of the above sport centres. 3.5 Riders are encouraged to commence their cycling route from Sports Hub due to the theme of celebrations. 3.6 Riders are encouraged to ride in an anti-clockwise direction from their start point, example JW to SH, to PRS to WLD. 4. Ride Format 4.1 All Riders must bring along his/her valid Singapore pink or blue identity cards, valid driving license (with photo), valid passport or any other form of photo identification for verification, failing which he/she will not be allowed to participate in the ride. 4.2 Riders will be briefed on a recommended Route Map at their respective Start Point. 4.3 Riders will have a safety briefing before commencement of ride. 1 Ride route may change when nearer to event date. 4.4 Riders are to report to the Station Master upon arrival of next Pit Stop (Sport Centre). 4.5 Participants who are aged 16 and below, ie born in or after 2001, must obtain parental/legal guardian consent for their participation in the tournament. Consent forms can be downloaded from GA!S 2018 official website as follows: www.myactivesg.com/getactivesingapore 4.6 Riders will be despatched in a wave of 10-15 persons every ten (10) minutes to reduce possibility of overcrowding on the routes. 4.7 In addition, all riders will be issued a coloured wrist band to identify completion of each station. 5. Team Ride Format 5.1 Teams shall comprise of a minimum of 2 to a maximum of 4 members. 5.2 For team sports, each team must comprise of at least 70% Singapore citizens or permanent residents. 5.3 For corporate team categories, at least 70% of the team must consist of full time and/or contract staff of all private, public and non-profit organisations. In addition, at least 50% of the full time and/or staff must be Singapore citizens or permanent residents. 6. Ride Verification 6.1 All participants are required to verify total riding distance upon completion of last station. 6.2 Participants are highly encouraged to download the Velodash free application (available on Google Play Store and IOS App store) which provides live tracking function. 6.3 Alternatively, participants can take a screenshot of the total distance/route covered during the ride from cycling computers or other tracking applications and email to riba_tp@sport.gov.sg for post-ride verification with the following subject title: Example - Bib number 123 Singapore National Games 2018 Round Island Bike Adventure (Updated as of 25 June 2018) Page 3
7. RIBA BIB Number 7.1 All participants will receive a RIBA BiB number upon check-in on 5 August. 8. Participation souvenirs a. Limited cycling jersey will be issued to the first 200 online registrations and upon completion all 4 Pit Stops (inclusive of Start Point) E.g. Rider A commences his ride from Sportshub to Pasir Ris SC, continuing his ride from Pasir Ris SC, continuing to Woodlands SC and decided to end at Jurong West SC thus completing and checking into a total of 4 stations. Rider A will thus be entitled to a limited edition jersey if he is one of the riders within the 1 st 200 online registrations. b. Winners of jerseys will be notified within 2 weeks after the completion of Ride and collection will be from one of the 4 Sport Centres. c. Riders will be awarded a Medal in accordance to the Pit Stops covered within the stipulated timing window from 0800 to 1800 on event day. Medals can be collected upon completion of Ride at the respective 4 Sport Centres. There are also limited edition premiums awarded to the riders upon completion. Equipment and Attire a. All riders must wear a safety cycling helmet at all times throughout the duration of the ride. b. All riders are encouraged to wear bright visible clothing to ensure you can clearly be seen by other PCN and road users. 10. Safety a. S/N SIGNS AND MARKINGS EXPLANATIONS Watch out and beware of vehicles form side accesses 4 For your own safety, dismount and proceed by pushing forward 5 Watch out for on coming vehicles when crossing Speed Regulating Strips 6 To reduce the speed of cyclist approaching an area where conflicting movement ahead is expected (e.g. bus stops, junctions etc) Cyclist should slow down, give way or stop to dismount and push across these areas. S/N SIGNS AND MARKINGS EXPLANATIONS Bicycle Crossing Sign 8 9 Any cyclist who is within 50m of either side of a bicycle crossing as indicated by traffic sign, shall make use of the bicycle crossing for the purpose of crossing the road. Bicycle Crossing Signal Cyclist shall only cross when the green bicycle in the traffic light is illuminated b. Riders are recommended to adhere to the following when on the route. i. Cycling Path: 1. Use of front and rear light to illuminate; 2. Ring of bell only when necessary; 3. Always keep to the left unless overtaking; 4. Do not speed or ride in an inconsiderate manner; 5. Do not overtake others in a dangerous manner; 6. Always give way to pedestrians and other cyclists; 7. 8. Slow down to give way to vehicle when approaching car parks accesses; 9. Slow down to give way to pedestrians when approaching intersections with pedestrian access; 10. Slow down when approaching intersections with limited sight distances; 11. Stay on cycling paths where available; ii. On Road Cycling 1. Observe traffic road rules, light signals, signs and road markings; 2. Cycle close to the left side of the road so as not to obstruct vehicles moving at a faster speed; 3. Slow down when approaching road openings, bends, junctions, bus stops and pedestrian crossings; 4. Do not ride against traffic flow 5. Do not weave through traffic 6. Beware of passengers opening doors when passing a parked car. Keep a safe distance away; 7. Do not squeeze between a stopped bus at a bus stop and the kerb; 8. Use hand signals to alert drivers and other cyclists when you intend to turn; 9. Avoid staying close to the back of turning vehicles or squeezing between the turning vehicle and the kerb; 10. Do not cycle across pedestrian crossings. Dismount and push your bicycles. 11. Riders are advised to seek shelter during CAT 1 inclement weather.
