Website: www.woodstockmoose1329.com Governors Message February has arrived and it s amazing that we are just a few months away from the close of the moose year. Wow! Where has the time gone? I did want to take a moment to thank those who signed members over the past few months. Introducing your friends and family to this great fraternity of ours is a good thing. Members pulled together and our membership numbers are rising, while more and more people are learning about the benefits of being a Moose Member. I had a chance to meet a number of new members at some of our recent events, and they all seemed to be having a great time. I hope every member will continue to share our story with their friends and family. Every member we sign helps our children at Mooseheart and our seniors at Moosehaven. It helps our lodge keep the activities going, and it introduces so many other families to our many friends, brothers and sisters of the Moose fraternity. I also wanted to ask those LOOM members of our lodge to seriously consider running for a position on the board, chairing a committee, or volunteering on a committee. Elections are just around the corner and there are many places where your support is welcomed and needed. Please consider one of these positions in the future. Remember - The Time is Now! Randy Tipps, Governor decide if you want to be part of the decision making events for our lodge. The lodge needs dedicated people to help run the lodge for the ensuing year, great progress has been made by this lodge over the years and a better way to be an intimate part of that process is to be on the board of officers for 2010-2011. The improvements in this lodge have been great but more needs to be done as we head into the future of moosedom. Looking forward to the upcoming years we are sure to see the further combination of both LOOM and WOTM boards as great strides can be accomplished in joining of forces. What does it take to be a board of officer? The question is surely asked by all members with the busy lives that we lead, the obvious answer is dedication. If you are considering a board position you must realize that a portion of your time will be dedicated to the lodge, how much you dedicate is up to you. The more time you allocate to the lodge the more satisfying your adventure of being a board officer can be. There are several meetings a month for both men and women s boards along with a joint meeting of both boards. Being a board of officer gives you the opportunity to make changes and be part of the decision making process of the lodges future keeping our lodge growing and prospering through out the years. Begin your journey today by asking to be nominated to one of our boards the nominations begin in February. Fraternally Yours, R. H. Sweeney, Administrator From the Desk of the Administrator With the elections for the LOOM and the WOTM board of officers coming up in April it s time for all members to W.O.T.M. We would like to welcome new members Teri Holms and Nadine Krause into our Chapter. We are looking for new We urge all our members to visit www.mooseintl.org at least weekly, for the latest news on Mooseheart, Moosehaven, Moose Charities plus updates on fraternal activities, sporting events and other breaking news from around the Moose fraternity! In the Members Only section (password - nashville http://www.mooseintl.org/portal/default.asp you can also pay your dues instantly, and change details about yourself in your individual member file. LOOM Nominating Committee Meetings Begin Every lodge is required by the Constitution and General Laws to hold an election of officers in April each year. Every lodge is incorporated and required to have corporate officers. The corporate officers: President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer are the elected Governor, Junior Governor, Administrator and Treasurer, respectfully. The election of officers is important because lodge members are simultaneously electing both the fraternal and corporate officers of the lodge. No later than the last membership floor meeting in February, a nominating committee must be chosen. The nominating committee will hold three meetings on, March 3rd, March 10th, and March 17th at 5:45pm. If you wish to run for an office and I hope you do, please take a moment to read the nominating qualifications posted in the Lodge, or ask a current officer for more information. If you decide to run for an office, fill out the nomination form in this newsletter or posted in the lodge, to a current officer of the lodge. You also want to be at the lodge for the nominating committee meeting as well when that officer turns in your name for nomination. Only lodge members whose dues are paid and in good standing may be considered for elective office. To be an elected officer of a lodge, the officer must be a member of that lodge. The offices of Treasurer and Trustee only require that the member be in good standing at the time of the Nominating Committee report. A member is not eligible for the office of Governor, Junior Governor or Prelate unless his membership in the lodge in which he seeks office equals or exceeds six (6) months preceding the date of the election. (This does not apply to a newly instituted lodge.) A member must have served at least one(1) term [twelve (12) full months] in another elective office [not a combination of one (1) year in elective offices] of the lodge in which he seeks office before his name may be placed in nomination for the office of Governor. Peg Stock, Chair Benefit for Fellow Moose Member On Saturday, February 26th, we are having a benefit for my sister-in-law, Sue McEnaney. She had surgery last spring for a blockage in her intestine. Needless to say she had a mass which resulted in her spending the entire summer doing chemo treatments. After a waiting period, she returned to her doctor and the diagnosis wasn t what we had hoped for. Although they have health insurance, they have astronomical medical bills. She is back having more chemo treatments, because the first round didn t do the job. Sue and Terry are fellow Moose members from Harvard and I wanted to have the benefit with my Moose Family in Woodstock, after all, we are all Moose family, no matter the location we are members from. I would like to ask you to join us on the February 26th for a dinner of Roast Beef and Broasted Chicken. Doors open at 5:00pm and dinner will be served at 6:00pm. Tickets at a cost of only $10.00 will be available at the Lodge or from Deb Peters. Tickets include dinner, prize drawings and raffles. In addition to the prizes/raffles included in the ticket, there will also be 50/50 drawings and a silent auction of things that have been donated. A cash bar will be available as well as a DJ for entertainment. Help support a fellow Moose Member and if you can make it keep the date open! Deb Peters Half Way to Picnic Raffle We are thinking summer already. The Picnic Committee is going to hold a cash raffle in February/March. Watch for more details in the Woodstock / Harvard Lodges. Tickets will be available in both Lodges. Together let s make this the best Picnic ever. Harvard/ Woodstock Picnic Committee. Adult Holiday Party A special thanks to all the volunteers who helped make the party a success. Dave & Dianna Jayne, Bill & Sue Lock, Lloyd & Sally Slack, Linda McGee, Katrina & Keith Umbricht, Deb Peters, Dave Bublavy, Bruce Bailey, Randy Tipps, Bob Healy and Randy Thiede. I really appreciate all your help! A great time was had by all the Woodstock members who attended, and of course Santa even showed up with his jingle bells on ready to get the crowd rocking. If you didn t make it to the party, mark your calendars and plan to attend this event next year. Jeanne Thiede, Holiday Committee Chairman Chili Cook-Off Winners I would like to thank everyone who attended the cook-off. What a fantastic turnout. We had a tie for first place this year with Phyllis and Roger Close and Maureen and Chuck Friedel getting the same number of votes and Connie Avery coming in second. With 13 entries there was plenty of chili to go around, (thank goodness for Tums). Thank you to those who donated to the silent auction. A generous donation was made to The food pantry and Moose Charities. I would 77 Continued on page 7

March Of Dimes We are getting to that time again. The lodge is sponsoring a team again this year. The date is May 15th. I know that members money is tight this year. If you can sponsor anyone, it would be very appreciated. If a member ask you for a donation give if you can. We understand not everyone can do this. Our goal for this year is $3000.00. We have other people we ask also. Our team has family members and associates that give to us every year. Thanks to all of our members for their support. If any member would like R.
