XXII CENTRAL AMERICAN AND CARIBBEAN GAMES VERACRUZ 2014 DATE AND PLACE OF COMPETITION The Boxing competition at the XXII Central American and Caribbean Games will take place Friday, November 21st to Saturday, November 29th, 2014 at the World Trade Center in Veracruz, Ver. XXII CENTRAL AMERICAN AND CARIBBEAN GAMES VERACRUZ 2014 COMPETITION FORMAT The competition will follow the simple elimination format. The losers of the semi-finals in each event will receive a bronze medal. Combat duration As per AIBA s Technical and Competition Regulations combats will take place as follows: 6 a) Men s: 3 rounds, 3 minutes each. 1 minute break between rounds. b) Women s: 4 rounds, 2 minutes each. 1 minute break between rounds.

MAXIMUM NUMBER OF COMPETITORS In accordance to the quota set by CACSO, the Boxing competition will have a maximum of 148 athletes, 18 women and 130 men. Each NOC may enter a maximum of 1 athlete per division per weight category, as long as the AMBC s qualifying criteria are met for the XXII Central American and Caribbean Games, Veracruz 2014. COMPETITORS AGES Competitors birth dates must be between January 1st, 1995 and December 31st, 1974. 9
XXII CENTRAL AMERICAN AND CARIBBEAN GAMES VERACRUZ 2014 VERACRUZ 2014 QUALIFICATION SYSTEM a) Qualification for boxers will be defined through 2 qualification events which will take place between May and July, 2014. Exact location and dates of these events are yet to be confirmed by AMBC and will be reported to the Organizing Committee. b) Each NOC may enter a maximum of 1 boxer per gender per weight division. 10 c) Mexico, as host country may enter 7 athletes in 7 weight categories for both elimination events; 5 men and 2 women. The country will be able to determine which 7 qualification event divisions to enter; the other 6 weight categories, (5 men and 1 woman) will be able to enter without going through qualification events for the XXII Central American and Caribbean Games, Veracruz 2014. d) Distribution criteria per division for both men and women will follow the specifications in the following table: QUALIFICATION PROPOSAL DURING ELIMINATIONS Gender Cat. 1st Elim. 2nd Elim. The host country has sent official confirmation to AMBC of the 6 divisions that will be directly qualified: Men s 52, 56, 60, 69 and 81 kg; Women s 60kg. These are already reflected on the table. 2. The divisions with 2 available slots will qualify 2 finalists, the winner (gold) and second place (silver) of that weight division. 3. The weight divisions with 3 available slots will qualify the winners of gold and silver medals as well as one of the bronze medals (for the athlete who lost during the semifinal against the gold medalist for the event). 4. The weight divisions with 4 available slots will qualify gold, silver and both bronze medalists.

The weight divisions with 5 available slots will qualify the gold and silver medalists, both bronze medalists as well as the athlete who lost against the gold medalist during quarter finals. 6. The weight divisions with 6 available slots will qualify all 4 medalists (1 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze), as well as the athletes who lost during quarter finals against the gold and silver medalists. 12 7. The weight divisions with 7 available slots will qualify all 4 medalists (1 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze), as well as the 2 athletes who lost during quarter finals against the gold and silver medalists, the seventh qualified athlete will be the person who lost, during quarter finals, to the athlete who lost to the gold medalist during quarter finals. 8. The weight divisions with 8 available slots will qualify the 8 athletes who make it to quarter finals. 9. The weight divisions with 9 available slots will qualify the 8 athletes who make it to quarter finals, the 9th slot will go to the athlete who lost to the division champion during round of 16. 10. In the event of a qualified athlete cannot participate in the XXII Central American and Caribbean Games for any number of reasons, the athlete selected to take his or her place will be the person who lost against the departed athlete in the prior phase, following the specifications found under section d of this manual. Qualification system approval This qualification system was reviewed and approved by AMBC, October 2nd, 2012.
TECHNICAL MEETING The Technical Meeting will take place on Thursday, November 20th, 2014 at the Central American and Caribbean Village at a time to be confirmed. Up to two representatives from each NOC will be able to assist this Technical Meeting. The invitation card for the Technical Meeting will be available to the Heads of Team at the Sports Information Center at the Central American and Caribbean Village in Xalapa upon their arrival. The Technical Delegate and the Organizing Committee s Competition Manager for Boxing will preside the meeting, which shall take place in Spanish and English. TECHNICAL OFFICIALS Technical personnel will be designated by the American Boxing Confederation (AMBC) Judges and referees are designated by each country and by the American Boxing confederation as per the rules established by AIBA, these officials must have two-star or three-star certificates. PROTESTS AND APPEALS 13 Protests and appeals will be resolved in accordance to what is established in AIBA s international regulations.
XXII CENTRAL AMERICAN AND CARIBBEAN GAMES VERACRUZ 2014 DRAW Draw will take place November 21st, at 11:00. WEIGH-IN General weigh-in and medical exam 14 Date: Friday, November 21st, 2014. Time: 07:00 to 09:00 Place: Central American and Caribbean Village Daily weigh-in and medical examination for the day s competitors Date: November 22nd to 29th, 2014 Time: 07:00 to 08:00 Place: Central American and Caribbean Village MEDAL CEREMONIES Awards ceremonies will take place according to CACSO s General Regulations, Chapter XIII. First place: Gold medal and diploma Second place: Silver medal and diploma Third place: Bronze medal and diploma(2)
COMPETITION VENUE The Boxing competition will take place at the World Trade Center which can be found on Boulevard Adolfo Ruiz Cortines #3947, Boca del Rio, Ver. 15
