Gaylord, Michigan EAA Chapter 1095 June 2005 Pancake Breakfast and Flyin Saturday, June 18, setup work Friday at 6pm Ford Tri-Motor Visits TVC EAA's 1929 Ford Tri-Motor takes to the skies in June and July for a mini-tour to several cities, starting in Pontiac, Michigan, on June 11 and concluding at Traverse City, Michigan, on July 5. "We welcome everybody to experience true living history by flying in the world's first mass-produced airliner or seeing it when we land in their area," said EAA AirVenture Museum Director Adam Smith. Nicknamed the Tin Goose because of its corrugated metal skin, EAA restored the airplane in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Since then it has been based at Pioneer Airport, EAA's aerodrome that re-creates aviation in the 1920s and 1930s. Last year the airplane received a new paint job and was completely refurbished to appear as it did when it first flew more than 75 years ago. Flights are available for $40 per person when booked in advance, or $50 per person the day of the flights. A secure flight reservation system and complete information are available through EAA's Tri-Motor tour website: www.flytheford.org. Next Meeting June 8, 2005 in the Chapter House at 7:00 pm What s Up by Phil Curtiss It is time for our big show. Let s all pull together to push this one over the top. The work assignments you accepted are printed on page 4. We need all of you to make the Breakfast a success. If you are not on the list come Friday and Saturday and we will find something helpful for you to do. Saturday, May 21, Wally and I flew over to Bellaire to help the Harbor Springs chapter fly Young Eagles. It was a very busy time and the smiles were out in full face. Why do we fly these kids for the smiles. Monday, May 23, Ken, Phil and two other WW II pilots drove down to the Kalamazoo Air Zoo. Some photos are printed on the back page. Minutes of the May 11, 2005 Meeting Will Wottowa passed around a sign-up sheet and members agreed to certain tasks. The May 11, 2005 meeting of EAA Chapter 1095 was called to order by President Doug Hancock at 7:05 pm. Since there was no meeting in April, there were no minutes to approve. The Treasurer was absent so there was no Treasurer s Report. The work session on Friday, June 17, will begin at 6:00pm. Saturday we should start the final setup at 6:00am with the Breakfast hours being 7:00am to Noon. Plans for the June Fly In and Breakfast were discussed. Louie Aguilar will try to arrange for the radio station to broadcast from the Airport during the Fly In. Ken Schlemmer will contact a radio control model airplane club to see if they can have a presentation at the Fly In. Ken will also check with the Airport Manager about allowing the planes to fly. Ken will also look into sky diving demonstration. He will also check with the Airport Manager about using the County Hanger for the Breakfast. Phil will prepare posters and Bob Johnson will distribute them to various locations. Doug announced that he has formed a new Limited Liability Corporation (LLC) to own his planes. The new entity will be known as Old Buzzards Aviation, LLC. Wendy Briley will take care of eggs and potatoes at the breakfast. A $5 for the Breakfast was selected. [Editor s Note: What about children under 12? Would $3 be satisfactory?] Joe Seibold sent messages that he wants to hold a Breakfast in August to help the Northwestern Michigan School of Aviation. He would like 1095 and the Traverse City chapter to assist with this project. Phil Curtiss and Tom Lesinski will purchase the food supplies from Gordon s. Phil will work with the Old Buzzards and Young Eagles using the Terminal as his operations base. Phil Curtiss Acting Secretary Can you identify this photo? Have you ever been in one like this? Where did you go and how many flights? If we polled the Chapter how many can say they have flown in one of these? 45 North, EAA Chapter 1095 3 June 2005
