Sport for all page 11 GYMNASTICS Pre-School Gymnastics 18mths-5yrs Gymnastics is a brilliant sport for all ages. Our new programme for pre-school-aged children is filled with confidence building challenges and fun filled activities that will give your child an exciting introduction to sport. We offer classes seven days a week and at venues across East Renfrewshire. Gymnastics classes run in blocks, booked and paid for in advance. MiniGym 18mths 3yrs A brilliant start in sporting activity for little ones that will build their key motor skills, improve their co-ordination and develop their spatial awareness. Adults join in the class with their child. GymStars 3 5yrs Building foundations for strength, flexibility and skills, children participate independently in these classes and are introduced to key gymnastics elements on floor and apparatus. Gymnastics 5 16yrs Our gymnastics programme runs in line with Scottish and British Gymnastics regulations and develops key gymnastics skills, building strength, flexibility and agility. Children have the opportunity to gain award certificates, take part in display events and participate in our annual gymnastics competition. Beginner Classes A fun introduction to gymnastic elements and apparatus. Children will learn essential floor skills, vaulting fundamentals and basic beam and bar progressions while building fitness, flexibility and strength. Intermediate Classes Children progress into intermediate classes to improve their skills. Gymnasts will begin to link skills, work on tumbles, take on more challenging vaults and begin to develop skills on apparatus. Advanced Classes Using the physical preparation and understanding of key skills built up in previous levels, gymnasts will now progress to more complex tumble work on the floor, putting skills together into routines, advanced vaults and full elements on apparatus. Sport for all page 13 SWIMMING Our swimming programme offers a variety of swimming lessons and activities. We have a range of coach-led aqua activity sessions, swimming lessons for adults, swimming lessons for children and adults with disabilities, private lessons and coach led education programmes for people who want to be a swimming instructor. Little Splashers 3mths 3yrs Our Little Splashers classes are fun classes designed to build water confidence in babies and small children. Adults join in the class with their child. PAY ON THE DAY, NO NEED TO BOOK 5.60 or 4.70 with an All Access card or 2.85 with an All Access concession Eastwood Park Leisure Mondays 9.30am 10.15am Thursdays 10.15am 11am 11am 11.45 Eastwood High Sports Centre Saturdays 11am - 11.45am Please note: swimming lessons are non refundable Children s swim lessons 3 12yrs Our qualified swimming instructors have taught thousands of children to swim using our successful Learn 2 Swim programme. Children progress through a structured swimming lesson programme developing swimming skills, building confidence and technique. We have swimming lessons at each of our swimming pools; Eastwood Park Leisure, Eastwood High Sports Centre, Barrhead Foundry and Neilston Leisure Centre. Swimming lessons run 50 weeks a year and lessons can be bought in multiples of 10. Lessons are available Monday to Sunday, mornings, afternoons and evenings and are booked and paid for in advance. Disability swimming lessons Lessons are designed for children with physical disabilities, learning disabilities or sensory impairment. Children learn and have fun with the support of qualified instructor. Private swimming lessons We offer private one to one swimming lessons or lessons with one instructor for two children. Sport for all page 14 Aqua Activities 8 16yrs Our Aqua Activities are a progression from our Learn 2 Swim swimming lesson programme for those who want to continue developing their water skills. To join our aqua activities, children should be 8 years old and be able to swim 50 metres on front and 25 metres on back as these classes are in deep water at all times. Children who are 6 or 7 years old and have completed the Learn 2 Swim programme can join these classes. Aqua Adventure These classes encourage young children to participate in fun games and activities in the water. These classes take place during school holidays. Aqua Zone These classes encourage youngsters to participate in fun aquatic activities in the water such as diving, tumble turns or swimming with fins. Little Lifesavers These classes introduce children to water safety when playing in and around the water. The classes teach personal survival skills and children have the opportunity to try out rescue techniques and lifesaving CPR. Children must be able to swim 50 metres breast stroke and 50 metres back crawl. This class will be in deep water at all times. Junior swimming academy Junior swimming academy is for swimmers who want to continue to develop their skills, technique and stamina. Children must be able to swim 400 metres without stopping. Diving lessons Children will learn how to dive into the water from the poolside and from diving blocks. These lessons take place during school spring and summer holidays. Lessons are taken by qualified instructors who will teach you to swim, at your own pace. We have lessons for beginners and for improvers. We have adult swimming lessons at Barrhead Foundry, Eastwood High Sports Centre and Eastwood Park Leisure. Women only swimming lessons Our women only swimming lessons take place at Eastwood High Sport Centre. All swimming instructors and pool staff are women. Swimfit adult lessons Swim fit is a swimming class for adults who would like to develop their personal fitness and stamina.
