For those of you who couldn t attend this years AGM here s an update on your committee: Annual General Meeting As President of the Wanneroo Sports and Social Club (WSSC) I would like to welcome all new members to our committee. New Vice President: Dennis Hampton New Secretary: Paul Fowler New Committee: Pam McKenzie Danny Whittaker Greg Patman Derek Newton Now joining: Myself President Sarah Hills Vice President Carl Diletti Treasurer Wally Tyler Committee I would also like to thank our retiring committee members for all their great work and commitment to being part of achieving what we are today. WANNEROO SPORTS & SOCIAL CLUB (INC.) NEWSLETTER 2 I know it was a while back now, but did you enjoy our Tribute night? Wasn t it great, brought back a few memory for a lot of us, didn t it. Our last theme night was another great success. Thank you Brian McMurdo for arranging our Scottish Ceilidh (Party) with all those delicious Scottish treats. Did you enjoy our Pizza Sunday, if so stay connected to our FaceBook page for updates as to when the next one is. We also have another one of those great Quiz Nights coming up on the 15th September please book your table early as these events are very popular. Also coming up is Going Postal on the 22nd September. Tickets are currently available for both these events. After this year s AGM and with membership renewals are currently sitting at 480 Members. On behalf of your committee, a big Welcome to those new and returning WSSC members. We hope your enjoying everything we have to offer. If you haven t already renewed your membership, it s never too late. We really hope you want to continue to be part of the WSSC family, so please request a membership form over the Bar. New Bistro: Our kitchen is under new management, so why not come down any Friday night and try it out. We have had a great turnout for the past few weeks. It s been very popular, so to avoid disappointment please make sure you book 9405 1152. Like us to be open for Dining on other occasions? Suggestions welcome, we are here to serve you. Update on WSSC Committee items: Constitution Still with Liquor and Gaming for approval. Kids Room Don t forget we have a room available for your kids to have some fun also. Open every Friday night. Greenkeepers Shed Construction of the new Greenkeepers Shed has now been finalised. Regards: Peter Courtney President WSSC Suggestion Box Update: Due to a recent break-in, our suggestion box was stolen, as we value your suggestions just like the person who stole them, we will require you to re-submit your suggestion if it was submitted early in August. Foxtel: A suggestion has been put forward to install Foxtel. This has been put forward previously and the same arguments against it still exist. The cost of installing is prohibitive. At the moment the Club is paying around $160.00 per week to have Sky Channel. The cost of Foxtel is around $500.00 per week with an installation on top of this. Until things improve cost wise, the installation of Foxtel is not economically viable. No doubt this subject will come up again and it will be examined each time on a cost basis. Sorry about that. Keep the suggestions coming and I can promise that all of them will be considered and implemented if it is to the advantage of the Club or its members. New Stools Seating in TAB Area New furniture will be purchased as soon as funds become available. Looking for some that are durable for all occasions. Also please place your name on the suggestion so we can get back to you with an update and if necessary, clarification. Regards: Paul Fowler

WANNEROO SPORTS & SOCIAL CLUB (INC.) NEWSLETTER 3 Bowls Report by Bill Cowan A new bowls season is here again. Opening Day is Sunday 16th September 2018. We still require players for this up and coming Pennant Season. Green Fees from 1 September 2018 will go to $3.00. At this point I would like to wish all bowlers, good bowling for the new season. Chairperson Bill Cowan Darts Report by Charlie Hi fellow Dart Players Well! Half way through the season and the club is performing well. The 2 new teams are powering along with both sitting on top of their ladder. Great to see the new teams doing so well. Wanneroo Black and Wanneroo Red are poised for the run home to the finals. I think the competition has become a lot more competitive since the change of grades. This winter a lot of games are very close and it s only the pegs that separate them. Great to see our club hosting 2 games on a Tuesday night now. It has a great atmosphere, the place is starting to buzz! Even when a team has a bye they are coming down to the club for a throw. Great to see everyone mixing and to all the captains of the teams keep up the great work!

WANNEROO SPORTS & SOCIAL CLUB (INC.) NEWSLETTER 4 Remember to work on getting more players for next season. Imagine 3 games a night at the club. I can smell the SUPER NEW DART WALL the club is going to BUILD FOR US! Thanks to Jamie-Lee for looking after the drinkers and a big thank you to Jenna Proctor for taking over the recordings for the Blue Water Darts while Nathan is away. If you need anything of have ideas on how to improve our dart nights please ring me. Good arrows Charlie Golf Report by Gary Croucher Hi all, Well one year finishes and another starts. We completed the season with the final championship game in May being held at Wembley, a venue not visited by the society for a number of years. With final championship points for the year up for grabs, the event was well attended and the winner for the day with outstanding score of 44 points was Jason Skipper, well played Skippy. June is a busy month in the golf section, with the final social golf game traditionally sponsored by the Past Captains, this year played at Sun City in Yanchep. Congratulations to this year s winners, John, Lee, Luke & Henry, who produced an excellent Ambrose score with all team members playing well on the day. At the end of June we held our annual trophy evening at the club. This is always a popular social event where we celebrate the winners from all the golf games over the previous 12 months. The announcement of our club champion is the major award of the evening and this year the winner was not decided until the last putt of the last event. So please join me in congratulating out leading golfers of the season: A Grade - Barry Doyle B Grade - Steve Moseley C Grade - Lee Johnson Club Champion - Jason Skipper The 2018/19 season has already begun with a social game on a cold July morning at Chequers Golf Club in Bullsbrook. The year got off to a great start with the four man team of Luke Gerie, Dave Wilkinson, Jeff Giles and Jason Skipper winning on the day. We have an exciting year ahead with many new courses already booked for forthcoming fixtures. So if any members or their guests are interested in joining us at a game, please look out for listings on the noticeboard, it would be great to have you along. With thanks Gary Croucher Golf Section - Captain
