Attendance Policy Practices Early season practices will be held Tuesday through Thursday in the evenings. Once school is out for the summer, morning practice times will be available Monday through Friday. Swimmers are recommended to practice at least three times per week; however, they are welcome to practice every day. Practice Times: Mornings: Monday Friday 9:00 11:30 AM Evenings: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday: 6:30 8:00 PM Meet Attendance There are five dual meets during the season. All dual meets (home and away) start at 6:00 PM. Swimmers are expected to arrive at 4:30 PM for home meets. Arrival time for away meets is 5:00 PM. During the meets, swimmers are expected remain within the swim team in the designated team area. Swimmers are expected to attend each meet and will be scheduled as such. The Blue Marlins understand the value of family time and appreciate that families will take vacations in the summer. If you are unable to attend one of the regularly scheduled meets please make every effort to let the coaches know through one (or both) of the following methods: 1. Hey Coach forms for absence. Hey Coach Forms can be downloaded from the team website: http://www.amityacswimteam.org under important documents. Complete the form and turn hand it in to a coach after practice. 2. DICK s TSHQ App for absence. The DICK s TSHQ App has an RSVP selection for swimmers under the Event Details of each meet in the schedule. Swimmer attendance is marked as CONFIRMED by default. If you cannot make it to a meet, please select the X to indicate the swimmer will not attend that meet. Selecting absent only applies to the particular meet you are looking at in the schedule. If multiple meets will be missed, a selection must be made for each meet. Practice or meets will be cancelled if: Water temperature falls below 65 degrees. Air temperature below 70 degrees on an overcast day with no thunder or below 65 degrees if sunny. Thunder/Lightning Policy: All activity is to stop and the pool is to be cleared immediate for a period of 30 minutes when thunder is heard. Activity may resume after 30 minutes after the last thunder is heard. If Lightning is visible, the area is to be cleared immediately and evacuation to shelter is mandatory for a period of 30 minutes after each lightning occurrence.

County and Silver Championship Meets Swimmers will be automatically entered in Silver Champs or Counties if qualification standards are met. Please let the coaches know as soon as possible if you will not be able to attend either meet, an absence could impact a relay lineup. Invitational Meets Invitational meets are encouraged but not required. All invitational information will be posted on the bulletin boards and the team website. Please make note of the entry deadlines. If your entries and payment are not submitted by the entry deadline, your swimmer will not be entered into that invitational. Volunteering Volunteer signups will be managed through the Signup Genius website. You will receive an email from the volunteer coordinator each week with the volunteer needs for the next meet. Parent involvement through volunteering is critical for a successful swim meet. These are the jobs that are needed in order to have a successful home meet: Setup Prepare the pool and the area for the home meet Cleanup Clean up the pool area after each home meet. Concessions Sell food and drinks at home meet, coordinate 50-50 raffle. Timers - One for each lane and a backup timer Place Judges Record order of finish of the swimmers for each heat Official - Starter and at least one stroke and turn official. (Must be trained) Scorer s Table Enter times and order of finish into the scoring computer, meet announcer Zookeepers - Zookeepers are parent helpers who organize the younger swimmers to ensure they are at the starting blocks prior to their scheduled events. (One for each age group boys and girls: 8 and under, 9-10 and 11-12). Swimmers 13 and older are expected to be listening to the meet and be prepared to swim at the time of their event. If you have any comments, suggestions or ideas please feel free to reach out to any member of the board. GO BLUE MARLINS!!
