The Iowa Arabian Horse Association Iowa Spooktacular Arabian & Open Horse Show November 1 & 2, 2014 All activities will be indoors and horses are required to be stalled. Classes Begin 7:00pm Saturday, November 1, 2014 GREAT PRIZES FOR GRAND ENTRY AND WINNERS OF ALL THE CLASSES. All participants get a prize. No entry fees will be charged for the evening classes, but a donation would be appreciated. The SE District invites you to come early on Saturday and enjoy the Halloween activities we have planned. Come to the Show Office and sign up for the evening activities. GRAND ENTRY - Door Prize Drawing BEST COSTUME Horse & Rider have planned. - To be shown in any appropriate attire. Enter the ring in the counterclockwise direction at a walk. Judged on ingenuity of entry, and best crowd appeal. Peewee Spooks 10/under; Jr Spooks 11-14; Spooks 15 18; Sr Spooks 19/over; Family Spooks BEST DOG COSTUME- Yes, I said Dog Costume. Dog owner may dress in costume to compliment their dog, but not required. Judged by audience appeal. (Yes we will truly have a "dog and pony" show.) CATALOG RACE - This is a timed event. You will be given a page number before entering the arena. You will need to ride your horse to the barrel, dismount, and tear out the page with your number on it, remount, and ride out with the correct page. EGG & SPOON RACE- A fresh egg and spoon will be provided for each exhibitor. You will ride with one hand and balance the egg on the spoon in the other hand. Exhibitors will be asked to walk, trot, canter, or any other pattern or procedure to be called by the Judge. The last exhibitor to continue without dropping their egg will be declared the winner. LIBERTY CLASS - Horses will be judged on performance, movement, type, presence, and animation. Handlers will lead the horse to a designated marker and remove halter. Time and music will start when the halter is removed. While at liberty the horse may perform any gait. Noisemakers are allowed within reason. Only 2 handlers are permitted. Music, if desired, must be provided. Horse is not to be stood up at halter before being turned loose. Time expires after two minutes and horse will be eliminated if not caught in a further two minutes. Show-offs allowed, bring your own music - 2-minute/12 horse limit. ENTRIES & STALL REQUESTS CLOSE OCTOBER 24, 2014 No early arrivals before noon (12 p.m.) on Saturday, November 1, 2014 POST ENTRIES will be accepted as long as stalling is available. There is a one-time Post Entry Fee Charge of $10.00 per horse for all entries for Arabian Spooktacular show postmarked after October 24, 2014. Horses properly entered in the show on or before the deadline will be exempt from this penalty for additional classes entered after the deadline. All post class entries must be made before the start of the session in which the class will be held. Entries must be properly made on the official entry form in the name of the legal owner or lessee only, giving the legal owner s/lessee s complete address. Entries must be signed in all the required places. Show packets and exhibitor numbers will not be released until all the information on the entry form is properly completed. CLASS DESCRIPTIONS Stick Horse - Riders must provide their own stick horse. Leadline - Rider 8 yrs. and under as of Dec. 31, 2014. Stallions are prohibited. Handlers must be 14 yrs. or older. A/HA = Arabian/Half-Arabian AHA = Arabian Horse Association IaAHA = Iowa Arabian Horse Association Youth = 18 /under Adult = 19 /over Junior Horse = Horse 5 years and under Open = Any Breed Classes 14, 20, 24, 38, 49, and 54 are Saddle Seat Tack only RULES FOR SPOOKTACULAR SHOW 1. ALL horses participating in Saturday and/or Sunday events must pay for a stall and 2 bags of bedding. 2. AHA Membership is not required. However, by signing the entry form you are agreeing to abide by the rules of the current AHA Handbook and this prize book. 3. All Spooktacular classes will be judged according to the AHA Handbook standard class descriptions. 4. Exhibitors may cross enter between walk-trot classes and canter classes. 5. Show Clothes are NOT required, but appropriate attire in good taste is required. Training equipment is allowed. The Iowa Arabian Horse Association has been approved as a host organization for the Open Event Incentive Program of the Arabian Horse Association. The Open Event Incentive Program rewards both Riders and Horses that excel in all-breed competitions outside of the traditional Arabian horse community. As a participant in OEIP, you and your horse will accumulate points based on how you place in competitions and be rewarded for all of your achievements and hard work. EXHIBITOR INFORMATION ARRIVAL TIME: Stalls will be available at 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 1, 2014. The Show Manager will post stall assignments outside the Barn Office, located at the bottom of the ramp to the warm-up arena. Please do not stall any horse unless a stall has been assigned and shavings have been paid for. CHILI/SOUP SUPPER FUND RAISER SATURDAY NIGHT SPONSORED BY THE IaAHA YOUTH OUTSIDE THE SHOW OFFICE AT 5:30 P.M. DEPARTURE TIME: All horses and equipment must be removed from the Iowa Equestrian Center by 11:00 PM on Sunday. LOCATION: The Iowa Equestrian Center is located on the South side of the Kirkwood Community College Campus, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. From I-380 South of Cedar Rapids, take Exit 13 and go East to Kirkwood Blvd. Then turn left and go North until 76th Ave. and turn right. CAMPING: The IEC has electric hook-ups available for campers at $25.00 per night. All camping arrangements and fees are to be handled through the Show Office. Non-Electric camping is allowed at no charge. STALLING: The main facility has 206 10 X 10 stalls, additional stalling is available in a second barn where there are 107 8 x 8 stalls. Stalling is limited so make your entries early for best possible location. Every horse must pay for a stall. HOST HOTEL: Red Roof Inn, 3243 Southridge Dr. S.W., Cedar Rapids, IA 319-364-2000. Ask for the Iowa Arabian Horse Association rate of $47.99. Rooms will be released October 6th. There is an Iowa home football game that Saturday, so book your room early. Hotel rooms will be at a premium rate and have limited availability if you don't. IEC FACILITY RULES: The IEC facility is a No Smoking facility. All dogs must be on a leash at all times while at the Iowa Equestrian Center. All alcoholic beverages must he purchased from the Iowa Equestrian Center. Bringing alcoholic beverages onto the facility site is prohibited. All Bedding must be purchased through the show office and a 2 bag minimum is required, no bedding may be brought in. Manure is to be dumped in designated areas only. COLORING CONTEST: Color the enclosed picture and submit it by 9 p.m. Saturday night to the show office. Sign your name at the bottom with your age behind your name. Pictures will be hung on the show office windows to help decorate for the Spooktacular.
