General Entry Rules 1 The Top of the Range Arabian Event is conducted under the rules and regulations of the Arabian Horse Society of Australia (AHSA) together with the rules and definitions printed in this Schedule. Copies of the AHSA rule Book are available from the AHSA Ltd. 2 All horses must be registered with the Arabian Horse Society of Australia Ltd and the owner must hold current AHSA membership. 3 All horses must be the bona fide property of the exhibitor or under a written lease recognised by the AHSA at the time of entry. NOTE: Handlers, Trainers and Riders all entries for horses entered and exhibited by a person other than the registered owner or lessee, MUST be accompanied by a letter signed by the registered owner giving their authorisation for you to sign the entry forms on their behalf and compete with that horse. 4 The closing date of entries is 13 October 2017. All entries must be made in writing on forms supplied (or a photocopy thereof) and lodged with the secretary on or before the closing date for entries. Entries can be emailed to Ashleigh at sierralodge@bigpond.com.registration numbers to be stated for all exhibits on Entry form. A photocopy of the registration certificate MUST accompany entries. NO PENDING REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED. 5 The lodging of an entry shall bind the exhibitor to the Conditions of Entry set out herein and the signature of the exhibitor on the entry form shall signify acceptance of the conditions. 6 The Show committee shall have the power without assigning any reason to: a) Reject of cancel any entry at any time b) Prohibit the participation by any person or exhibit in any event or class for which it is entered; c) Cancel or combine any event or class/classes d) Alter the time at which any class or event is to take place e) Remove any exhibit from the showgrounds f) Transfer any exhibit or exhibitor from any class to another g) Declare any committee decision as final h) Act upon any report of cruelty to any exhibit on the grounds i) Act upon abusive comment to any volunteer or committee member 7 Payment in full must accompany all entries. Any cheque or negotiable instrument received or accepted by the Committee will be accepted as conditional payment only, until presented and cleared. Payment can be made by cash, cheque, money order or direct deposit. Any fees incurred with clearing of funds will be paid by the Exhibitor. Proof of direct deposit must be submitted along with entry. 8 Entry fees will not be refunded to exhibitors under any circumstance. Entry fees will not be refunded to exhibitors rejected due to non-compliance with Conditions of Entry. Stabling and/or camping fees may be refunded if notification is received by the secretary (in writing) no less than five (5) days prior to the show. 9 The Downs Arabian Club Inc. and its representatives shall not be held responsible for any loss, damage or injury occasioned to any exhibit or exhibitor from any cause whatsoever. 10 Any person causing annoyance by loud comments on Judges decisions or by unseemly conduct or by insulting behaviour will, after being cautioned by a DACI committee member or the Ring Marshall, be expelled from the showground and the said person may forfeit any awards already gained. 11 Any horse deemed not in full control by its handler or rider whilst in the marshalling area or the ring, may be dismissed from the ring at the discretion of the chief steward. Any horse, which becomes free from its handler or rider in the judging arena, may be excused from its class. 12 A veterinary surgeon will be on call throughout the Show. Exhibitors or their agents are responsible for all Veterinary expenses incurred. 13 If any handler, rider or groom is found using a whip or spurs on any exhibit in an improper manner, either in the show ring or otherwise, the exhibitor and exhibit may, at the discretion of the Committee, be disqualified. Exhibits which in the opinion of the Chief Steward or Judge appear to have whip or spur marks, will not be judged. 14 Insurance. All people handling a horse at the show must fill out an insurance declaration. Any person who is not a financial member of the Australian Horse Society of Australia and covered by another AHSA affiliate insurance, must become a member of the Downs Arabian Club for insurance purposes. The enclosed Insurance Declarations must be completed by each exhibitor/handler/rider before being allowed to compete. 15 Swabbing of Exhibits. Random swabbing of any exhibit competing at the show will be undertaken at the discretion of the Committee. It is a condition of entry of the show that permission is given by the registered owner for any exhibits entered to be swabbed by a qualified veterinarian should the Committee so request. Owners of any horse which tests positive to prohibited substances will be required to bear all costs associated with testing the relevant sample and will be stripped of any awards from this show. 16 Conduct. No exhibitor may leave the judging area until dismissed or excused by the Ring Steward. Use of noise making devises (ie: rattlers, shakers etc) in the marshalling area or outside the ring is not permitted. Excessive use of whips will not be tolerated. Lunging of horses in the marshalling area or on entry into the ring is NOT permitted. Marshals and stewards may issue a warning to any exhibitor infringing the rules. The exhibit number of the exhibitor so warned will be recorded by the steward on the back of the ring card for the class in which the exhibit is competing or about to compete. The Show Manager will be advised of any warnings issued. If a second warning is issued the exhibitor may be disqualified at the discretion of the show protest committee. Further action including a ban on competing in future years may be considered by the committee after the show.

General Show Rules 17 Two (2) calls only will be made in the marshalling yard a first call and final call. Competitors will only be allowed to enter the ring after the final call, at the Chief Steward s discretion. 18 The committee reserves the right to alter class times on the day as necessary. All changes in scheduling will be announced of the Public Address system and communicated to competitors as soon as possible. 19 Entries without their correct exhibit number will not be judged. Horses will be allocated one number for the entire show and it must be clearly displayed at all times by the handler/rider. 20 A handler, rider or driver shall show one (1) horse only in each class. 21 Any infringement of the Conditions of Entry may result in disqualification of the Exhibit and or Exhibitor, the loss of any or all awards gained and the prevention of any further participation in classes at the Show. At the discretion of the Committee, it may also apply disqualification from future DACI shows for a maximum period of two years. 22 Disputes/Protests. Must be lodged in writing with the DACI Secretary together with a fee of $50 (cash), which amount shall be forfeited if the complaint is not upheld. Protests must be lodged within one hour of the disputed incident. Definitions and Regulations 23 Egyptian E Effair: a) Straight Egyptian: Must be purebred Arabian and both parents lineage must trace to straight Egyptian bloodlines b) Egyptian Related: Must be purebred Arabian and must have a minimum of 50% Egyptian blood. 24 Crabbet Crusade: a) Pure Crabbet: Must be purebred Arabian and both parents lines trace to Pure Crabbet bloodlines b) Crabbet Related: Must be purebred Arabian and must have a minimum of 50% Crabbet blood. 25 Endurance Halter: Horse must be registered with the AHSA and the owner must be a financial member of the AHSA. The horse must be an open qualified AERA endurance horse ie. Have a yellow log book. The handler must be a qualified open endurance rider. 26 Egyptian E ffair and Crabbet Crusade events are graded B class and are Australian Championship Qualifying events. 27 Exhibits may be entered in only one feature section (Egyptian E ffair or Crabbet Crusade). 28 Progeny Classes: a minimum of two exhibits, the progeny of one sire or dam. The progeny only are to be shown, not necessarily bred or owned by the owner of the sire/dam. Entries to be in the name of the Sire or Dam only. 29 Youth: A person who has not turned 18 years of age by the day of the show. Youth exhibitors must wear approved safety helmets whilst mounted at all times. 30 Leading Rein: Leading Rein is for any youth aged between 5 and 7. Leading rein competitors are unable to compete in any other classes at the show. 31 Brood Mares: Brood mares may not be shown within 6 weeks either side of foaling. A brood mare, without a foal at foot must be three years and over, owner must have on hand a veterinary certificate showing proof of pregnancy or a copy of foal recording from previous progeny. A brood mare with a foal at foot must be 4 years and over. 32 Mares with a foal at foot must be shown with their foal. All foals must be haltered and led. 33 Horses under Saddle: Exhibits competing in these classes must be three (3) years of age and over and they are to be presented and judged as hacks. Presentation, manners, paces and correctness or workout will be judged. 34 Dual Registered: Exhibits entered in Dual Registered classes must enclose a photocopy of registration with another breed society with entries. 35 Tack Appointments: All tack will be gear checked by the Gear check Steward prior to each class, in accordance with the AHSA rule book. Competitors are requested to present for gear check no later than 10 minutes prior to their class. 36 Ribbons: Will be awarded to 6th place. 37 Hi Point Awards: A one horse/one rider combination only will calculated for Hi Point Awards. These will only be awarded in youth divisions. 38 Championships: All first and second placegetters must be on hand for Championship Awards. A first place winner that does not return for their Championship class will automatically forfeit their award. In this situation, the second placegetter will be eligible to contest the Reserve Championship. 39 Supreme Saddle Horse: Will be judged from Champion Open under Saddle, Champion Bridle Path Hack and Champion Show Hunter in that division Definitions and Regulations

40 Top of the Range Gala Events: These are a combined halter and performance class. Judging will commence with the halter component, to be followed by the ridden component. This event will be judged by a point score system and entry is limited to one horse per rider/exhibitor. Horses must be handled by the same exhibitor in halter and performance components and is to be shown in English tack and attire. Competitors may have only one (1) attendant to assist with gear changes. All horses are to be prepared for the performance section in the marshalling area; any exhibit leaving the marshalling area between the halter and ridden components will be disqualified. The Gala Event is a jackpot class with 75% of entries making the prize pool split between the first three placegetters. Prizes for both purebred and derivative Gala Events will be awarded as follows: o 1 st Place Prizemoney plus Garland and Trophy o 2 nd Place Prizemoney plus sash o 3 rd Place Prizemoney plus sash o 4 th 6 th Place Sash Showground Regulations 41 Camping: Camping is available on the grounds and will be charged per site. A charge of $15 per night / per site is charged by the RASQ. This fee is payable with your entries. Due to changes in RASQ regulations, this fee will be strictly enforced and checks will be made by the DACI throughout the show. Camping permits will be issued and are to be clearly displayed on the dashboard of your vehicle. 42 Stables: Ample stables are available for competitors. Hardwood shavings will be provided as a part of the stable fee, however if alternative bedding is required, this will be at the choice and cost to the owner/exhibitor. Competitors must leave stables clean and free of manure. This is an RASQ requirement. 43 Stable fees are charged per day (24 hours or part thereof). This means if you arrive Friday and leave Sunday you will be charged for 3 days stabling. If you would like to be stabled with your friends, then please note this on your entry form! 44 Entry to the showgrounds: Available from 7am on Friday 27 October 2017. Should you choose to arrive earlier, please contact the Stabling Coordinator Richard Sharman on 0408 668 326 to make suitable arrangements. (Early arrival will incur an additional fee). 45 DPI Regulations: The Toowoomba Showground is classified as a tick-free area. Please contact your local DPI inspector for spraying or inspection requirements. You must have a multi-purpose-movement ticket or a special permit to enter a tick free area. Note: All interstate competitors must stop at Border crossings to obtain entry and return documents to enable travel to any tick free areas. 46 Dogs: Any dogs brought onto the grounds must be kept on a leash at all times and away from the warm up, marshalling and show rings. 47 Biosecurity: A horse health declaration is required to compete at the show. DACI in association with RASQ have formulated a biosecurity plan for the protection of horses and people. You are reminded that any sick horse should not leave your property and should not be bought to the event.
