EVENT G UI D E
MESSAGE FROM ORGANISER PROGRAMME Dear Participants, We are glad that you are joining us for the 24th edition of SAFRA Singapore Bay Run & Army Half Marathon (SSBR & AHM), which remains one of the largest mass runs in Singapore. Jointly organised by SAFRA and the Army, the event promotes fitness and strengthens camaraderie among our SAF National Servicemen as they train and run together. It also provides an opportunity for families to strengthen their family bonds through their joint participation. They are a pivotal pillar of support to our national servicemen and play a crucial role in allowing them to give their whole-hearted commitment to defence. Our Strong Soldiers leverage on training for SSBR & AHM to build their fitness and endurance, with A Strong Body necessary to enhance their combat fitness to be competent, adaptive and resilient. The event theme, Together We Run, echoes the focus on imbuing camaraderie, fighting spirit and mental resilience among our soldiers. This exemplifies the Strong Mind of our soldiers. As our soldiers run along the scenic Marina Bay Skyline and Central Business District, they are reminded of the reason why they serve to protect their loved ones and our way of life. This adds to the Strong Heart of our soldiers. Enhancements have been made to the 21km running route to provide a smoother flow along Marina Barrage and bring runners closer to the iconic Singapore Sports Hub. Participants can also look forward to entertaining street-side festivities during their run to spur them on as they race along the cityscape, with belly dancers, cheerleaders and a series of new illuminated performances such as LED Stilt Walkers and LED Water Drummers providing exhilarating lights and sounds before the break of dawn. For the first time, two giant inflatables inspired by the SAF s Standard Obstacle Course have also been introduced as part of the 5km Fun Run to provide more fun bonding opportunities for families. The five-metre-tall inflatable Apex Ladder and the inflatable Rubble obstacle will be located at the Promontory @ Marina Bay and participants can choose to attempt it during the run. We are also glad that more family members are running together in the Families for Life 800m Challenge now that the category has been opened to mothers for the first time too. After the run, 21km and 10km runners can enjoy Muscle Rub service at the carnival held at the Padang, while children can have fun at bouncy inflatables. You can also enjoy a wide variety of food options sold in food trucks at the carnival. There will also be colorful stage performances and fun fitness challenges by SAFRA EnergyOne. We thank you for your continuous support and hope you will have a memorable experience at the run. See you there!
