PSA BASKETBALL WELCOME TO THE SUMMER 2018 SEASON

WELCOME TO PSA BASKETBALL COACHES MEETING There is NO coaches meeting for the summer season. Please contact your Players and Parents

UNIFORMS PSA Shop 972-208-3860 All uniforms must have legible numbers on the front (4 ) and back (6 ). Numbers may be up to 2 digits (0-5). Jerseys should have a PSA logo on it starting Winter 2018 season. Reversible uniforms are recommended but not required. When possible, the Home Team should wear light colors. A limited number of loaner jerseys are available at the PSA Customer Service Desk, only until the teams get their uniforms.

SUMMER SEASON DATES Season Starts June 18th 2 practices to schedule during the season (Please contact the front desk to schedule a practice at 972-208-5437). Practices have to be used during the season. Games are played Monday-Friday. Season Ends August 10 th

PSA COACHES BADGE Everyone sitting on the Bench during game must have a Badge How to obtain a Badge Must be listed on the Team Roster Must have an approved Coaches Application https://www.psaplano.org/onlineforms/default.aspx click on link to fill out application Must have photo taken at PSA Strongly recommend teams to have a backup coach If Badge is Forgotten, game will be a forfeit. Officials will ref the forfeited game

TEAM ROSTERS Double check your League (Grade and Gender) and Division assignments. If you are a full team, fully paid, no one should be added to your team unless you requested. If players from your team did not register and pay, they may have been left off your roster or replaced. Only players listed on your roster are eligible to play on your team. Players are restricted to one (1) team per grade.

DASH WAIVERS Everyone must sign a waiver. Your players must sign a waiver before they can play. Most have, but the ones that have not need to go in to their profile and sign the waiver. Paper waivers are also available. All Coaches and Manager must fill out a coaches application go to www.psaplano.org/onlineforms/default.aspx

PRACTICE ASSIGNMENTS Each team gets 2 practices for the season Practices has to be after 6pm during the week but can be earlier on the weekends (depends on availability). Green, Blue and Red Courts are all at PSA 1 st Center Silver Courts are all at PSA2 PSA Murphy Courts 1-8 (Court 9 & 10) PSA McKinney Courts 1-8 (Court 9 & 10) Practices will be at either PSA, PSA2, PSA Murphy and PSA McKinney

GAME DAY REMINDERS WEAR YOUR PSA COACHES BADGE!!! Do not bring basketballs to PSA on game days. Ask for a Pre-Game briefing with the referees, including at least one coach from each team. Coaches must write numbers on the PSA Game sheet and exchange with the other team No outside food or drink (except water bottles for the players) are allowed at the PSA Star Center or PISD gyms. Unattended children -- Please don t let them wander unattended they are your responsibility

PSA GAME SHEETS Game Sheets will be provided by PSA (except the first week of the season) Players & Coaches listed on Game Sheet Coaches must write down player numbers Officials will verify the game sheets

SCOREKEEPERS The home team provides the official scorekeeper and keeps the official scorebook. Scorekeepers are required to sit on either side of the timekeeper. Scorekeepers may not sit in the stands or on the team bench. Scorekeepers must list all players on each team by full name and number.

SCOREKEEPERS (CONT.) Record game score, individual scoring, personal fouls, team fouls, time-outs and player participation. Scorekeepers must track mandatory playing time. Scorekeepers must compare their scorebook at the end of each quarter to ensure no discrepancies. If a team is ahead by more than 25 points the scoreboard will be turned off unless the losing coach wants it left on. Scorekeepers will still keep a running score.

PLAYERS Players must tuck in their shirts No jewelry no metal hair holders. Players must check in at the scorer s table and give their number to the scorekeepers prior to entering the game and the Referee will wave them in.

MANDATORY PLAYING TIME RULES Coaches are responsible to ensure that all players meet their Mandatory Playing Time rules. Suspected violations need to be brought to the attention of the referee and opposing coach in time for it to be resolved during the game. Players can be substituted if injured or ill

MANDATORY PLAYING TIME RULES Kindergarten - 2nd Grade: Teams with ten (10) or less players: Each player must play at least one (1) full quarter from start to finish in each half. Teams with more than ten (10) players: Each player must play one (1) full quarter from start to finish in the game and no player may play in more than one (1) quarter in each half. No Substitution if you have ten players

MANDATORY PLAYING TIME RULES 3rd Grade and above: Each player must play at least one (1) full quarter from start to finish in the 1 st half unless you have more then 10 players Each player must play a minimum of 6 minutes during the 2 nd half. It is realized the 6 minutes could be slightly less or more but the intent is for everyone to play the equivalent of 6 minutes or more. No substitution in 1st Quarter No substitution in 2 nd Quarter if ten players If team has 11 or 12 players, then substitution starts in 2 nd Quarter remaining 6 or 7 players must play a full Quarter in 2 nd or 3 rd Quarters - must sub 1 or 2 in 2 nd Qtr

BENCH CONDUCT Only eligible players and coaches (2) on the official roster are permitted on the bench. Coaches/Adults must wear PSA Coaches Badge During the game, coaches are not permitted on the court and must stay within the bench area. Referees may require that coaches remain seated. Failure to follow the referees instructions may result in a technical foul.

PERSONAL BEHAVIOR Remember that you are a role model for the kids Review the Coaches Code of Ethics Inappropriate behavior by a coach, player or parent will not be tolerated. PSA Basketball Board will review issues and determine action to take

TECHNICAL FOULS & EJECTIONS Two technical fouls in a game against a coach or player (not including bench technical) results in an ejection, which is an automatic one-game suspension. The ejected player or coach must leave the gym area immediately. The ejected player must sit out the NEXT scheduled game. Coaches are responsible for enforcing all player suspensions. Ejection of a coach requires suspension until review by disciplinary board. Coaches are also responsible for their Fans, teams can receive a Technical foul for Fans Conduct. So keep your fans under control. All technical fouls will be reported to the Disciplinary Committee.

GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP Running up the score please don t. 25 points ahead - the scoreboard will be turned off. Remember that these are kids. Shake hands after every game No hard slaps or jabs with fingernails

RECORDING GAME RESULTS Timekeepers record results at the scorer s table. Immediately following the game, Coaches ensure that the correct score has been written on the scoresheet. Coaches enter scores online (Coaches tool) usually the winning coach When entering score, comments can be added about the game officials, other team, overall experience E-mail your league coordinator with missing or incorrect scores. CONFLICT REQUESTS Requests are not guaranteed. Forfeited games will not be rescheduled. Game Swaps are encouraged.

RESCHEDULE POLICY: GAME SWAPS Game swap is when you get one coach to agree to swap times and dates of a particular game on your schedule with his/her schedule. You will have to do a game swap first if that is unsuccessful then a game change could be possible. Coaches make sure to cc your league coordinator when attempting a game swap so that they are aware of it. A team only needs 5 players to play and in most instances only 4 players. Please contact your league coordinator if you need help with game swaps and to receive your league contact list.
