Congratulations to you both on achieving the positions. I am sure you will do the club proud. CLUB NEWS AND HAPPENINGS Our club month started off with the social on Sunday 12 th November. This was attended by around 20 members which was quite good considering how hot the afternoon was. However, Greg slowed the music down somewhat so we did not expire of heat stroke. The raffle, which was 2 tickets to any R.R.I dance, was won by Craig Thomas. We held our Valentine s dance on 17 th February. We only had around 40 people there but the ones who did not come missed a great night of dancing. Thankfully, the air con was working really well because Gary Quinlan kept us all dancing all night. He only stopped once during the night which co-incided with our supper break. He really is a great musician who knows our club members and plays what we like. Gary Quinlan playing Below are our raffle winners Best dressed winners, Janet and Phil Col Hooton on his first duty as president

DANCE LESSONS Dance Lessons are held every Tuesday night at the Masonic Club, corner of Kent and William Streets. The first lesson is free and beginners start at 6.30-7.30p.m. with intermediate lessons after this. Cost is $5 for members and $7 for non-members. Everyone is welcome. The first lesson is free. The raffle we now hold each Tuesday night has proved successful so will be continued. Tickets are $1 each and the prize is 2 free dance lessons, not bad for a possible $1 investment. Thank you to all who support the raffle each week. This brings in much needed funds so the club can continue holding the dances for all and paying bills, of course. I often forget to say thank you to the members who give up their time to teach on Tuesday nights. Without you all, there would be no lessons and I believe the club would not be in such a good financial position so thank you all. Thank you Clair, who has once again, stepped up to take on the role for the lessons. NEXT DANCE Our next dance will be held on 10 th March, 2018 at Gracemere Hall with Billy Guy. Theme is, of course, St. Paddy s. Set up time will now be 5.30 p.m. as the earlier time seemed to suit most members. People can do the setting up and stay for the dance without extra travelling back and forth. Please remember we are now B.Y.O. Tea, coffee and cold water provided free.

THIS IS YOUR NEWSLETTER Please members, this is your newsletter put out to keep everyone in the loop about what is going on in dance circles. If you have any news which you would like to share, please forward to club e-mail address or my own, dcthomas2@westnet.com.au Please also remember photos. We have functions and gatherings and members take photos. It would be appreciated if you could send some of these photos onto Rocky Rockers so they can be used in the newsletter as well as Facebook if you are willing. Thank you. Please find out about us on Facebook and webpage addresses above on our title page. Also, we list our functions and some of the other events on the back page of our newsletter. Thank you to Craig Stewart for once again taking on the job of keeping our page and web page up to date. One more thing I would like to mention here. When a club member is sick, hospitalised or whatever, please let me know so, on behalf of the club, we can send the appropriate response, whether it be a card or flowers and get well wishes from all of us at the club. Thank you in advance for this. SOCIAL AFTERNOONS The next social will be next year 11 th March, the following afternoon after our dance at Pipe Band Hall at 2.30 p.m. NEW MEMBERS We have 3 new member this month. Welcome to Debra Matheson, Betty Petrie and Doug Vaschina. We hope you enjoy the dancing and friendships that have become part of our club.

CLUB CLOTHING Echidna still have the club logo on their computer. They have polo shirts available for $30.70, up only $2 from a long time ago. Not bad at all. To put the logo on the front shoulder, cost is $11.00. To put a large logo on the back is $22.00. They will also put a logo on a hand towel for you at a cost of $15.00, but you must provide your own hand towel. Turn around time is about 2 weeks Contact Echidna Embroidery at 29 Denham Street. Ph 49227564 NEXT MEETING Our next meeting will be held on the 21 st March at 6.30 p.m.at the Masonic Club in William Street. Please remember all meetings now start at 6.30 p.m. As a club member, you are all entitled to add things to the agenda. By our club rules, agendas are supposed to go out 2 weeks before a meeting, so please, if you have an item you would like to be discussed at the meeting, please send it in to me in good time. Come along and join us every third Wednesday of the month. Thank you all who take the time to attend. PRESIDENT S IDEAS Clair has hit the ground running with ideas for the club. 1. Clair would like to put a float into the Mt. Morgan parade on May day weekend. If interested in this idea, please contact Clair. We have to know by middle of March if we are to have time to do anything. The theme is sport. 2. Clair has contacted Ray and Lyn from Gladstone and they would be happy to hold a 2 hour workshop up here on a Saturday afternoon, for free. This was spoken about at the meeting and it was thought maybe a Sunday afternoon instead of the social might work better. Clair was to contact them and see what could be worked out. 3. Clair would also like to start up socialising as a club, not necessarily including dancing. Ideas put forward were Ferns for lunch and/ or weekend maybe, Bbq at Mt

Morgan dam, go to Cool Waters again as we once did and all had a great time.. Please contact Clair with any ideas and if you would be willing to join in these events. 4. Clair has already made a start on the socialising bit. She has organised a social afternoon at Greg and Sharons place at 2 Neilsen Ave, Glenlee on 17 th March. At 3 p.m. Bring along your bathers, dancing shoes, singing voices, chairs, food to share and byo. Food can be hot cold or whatever you like. It will be a communal supper. Come along and have a great time and catch up with everyone. Their home is easy to find. Just drive out of town as if going to Mackay, past Heritage village and Parkhurst school and Kortes. Keep driving til you see a sign, just over a rise, saying Angela s road. Their street is the next turnoff on your left and theirs is the first home on your right. The committee is interested any other ideas club members may have to help keep our club moving forward. Please contact either the club or Clair with any answers or ideas.
