SYNOPSIS A high school student Sandy is a tech whiz. However, in real life she s far from being popular. She doesn t have any friends, her parents are always busy working and she can t even dream of having a boyfriend. The only life she has is the one on the Internet. Her nickname s Alex. This Alex is a girl, too, but with a guy s name and character. Unlike Sandy, Alex is brave, sociable and funny. All Sandy s classmates like chatting with Alex. Sandy has made up a whole virtual life for her. Its credibility is confirmed by dozens of accounts, which Sandy virtuously manages. In this empire of lies Alex has understanding parents, faithful friends, fans and followers. And yet she s been online-dating Danny the most handsome guy in the world and Sandy s crush since she first saw this newbie in their class.
SYNOPSIS Danny s been pushing Alex to have an offline date. He s never seen her face so far, but is already in love. Sandy feels like go there and confess to Danny, but at the very last moment she hesitates, gets drunks at home, cries a river on the sofa and passes out, while Danny has been texting Alex again and again. Next morning Sandy finds out that Danny s been killed not far from the very same café where they were supposed to meet. And now everything leads to his last night date as the most likely murderer. So, now everyone is looking for the mysterious Alex, who can t be identified either by IP-address or anything else Sandy s a tech whiz, indeed, and she has always protected the anonymity of her virtual life. Sandy doesn t remember anything about that night, but is she really capable of having killed Danny? Sandy tries to figure out what happened and yet to divert any suspicion from herself. However, the harder she tries, the more this circle tightens up around her
SYNOPSIS That s when Alex shows up in Sandy s apartment. She looks exactly like Sandy, but has a lot cooler outfit and make-up. At first Sandy thinks she s hallucinating but then it turns out that others can see Alex, too. She s absolutely material, flesh-and-blood, and can even punch you in the eye, if anything. Alex offers Sandy her help: she can temporally substitute Sandy in her life and sort it out. Having decided that things can t go worse, Sandy agrees. Alex goes to school instead of Sandy everyone thinks it s her, but with different style and character. Alex rebuts all suspicions in a blink of an eye. She shuts down all the bullies at school, both students and teachers, who ve been pushing a shy smart girl around. Alex finds a common language with Sandy s parents, too. Now her real life is even better than the made-up, virtual one. She s surrounded by friends and popular.
SYNOPSIS But now it s Alex who lives that perfect life, not Sandy. Who is still isolated in her room, one on one with her laptop. And now she doesn t have even a virtual life. Sandy understands that Alex took it all away from her, so she unsuccessfully tries to rewrite their story, to make up another life for Alex. The one where she goes to study abroad or gets into hospital. But Sandy fails, and Alex is furious. She faces Sandy with the fact that they ve switched places forever, and by having agreed to give her life to Alex, Sandy herself has become an avatar. And now she doesn t belong here, in real world, so it s better for her to commit suicide and let Alex enjoy real life. The same story happened to Danny: he used to be a so-so guy with a spotty face, but then agreed to be replaced by his character and became a popular hottie. He didn t want to give his life away and paid for that: Alex had to kill him.
