1. IDENTIFICATION OF THE MATERIAL AND SUPPLIER Product Name: Other name(s): Recommended Use: PROPYLENE GLYCOL 1,2-Propanediol; 1,2-Dihydroxypropane; Methylethylene glycol; Monopropylene glycol; MPG. Generally accepted for use as a component in the manufacture of unsaturated polyester resins, functional fluids, paints and coatings and plasticizers. Supplier: Orica Australia Pty Ltd ABN: 99 004 117 828 Street Address: 1 Nicholson Street, Melbourne 3000 Australia Telephone Number: +61 3 9665 7111 Facsimile: +61 3 9665 7937 Emergency Telephone: 1 800 033 111 (ALL HOURS) 2. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION Based on available information, not classified as hazardous according to criteria of Safe Work Australia; NON- HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCE. Not classified as Dangerous Goods by the criteria of the Australian Dangerous Goods Code (ADG Code) for transport by Road and Rail; NON-DANGEROUS GOODS. Poisons Schedule: None allocated. 3. COMPOSITION/INFORMATION ON INGREDIENTS Components CAS Number Proportion Risk Phrases Propylene glycol 57-55-6 100% - 4. FIRST AID MEASURES Inhalation: Remove victim from area of exposure - avoid becoming a casualty. Seek medical advice if effects persist. Skin Contact: If skin contact occurs, remove contaminated clothing and wash skin with running water. If irritation occurs seek medical Eye Contact: If in eyes, wash out immediately with water. In all cases of eye contamination it is a sensible precaution to seek medical Ingestion: Rinse mouth with water. If swallowed, give a glass of water to drink. If vomiting occurs give further water. Seek medical Medical attention and special treatment: Treat symptomatically. Following cases of gross overexposure, investigation of liver, kidney and eye function may be advisable. Records of such incidents should be maintained for future reference. Page 1 of 5

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES Hazards from combustion products: Combustible liquid. Precautions for fire fighters and special protective equipment: On burning will emit toxic fumes, including those of carbon monoxide. Fire fighters to wear self-contained breathing apparatus and suitable protective clothing if risk of exposure to vapour or products of combustion. Keep containers cool with water spray. Suitable Extinguishing Media: Fine water spray, normal foam, dry agent (carbon dioxide, dry chemical powder). Unsuitable Extinguishing Media: Water jets. 6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES Emergency procedures: Shut off all possible sources of ignition. Clear area of all unprotected personnel. If contamination of sewers or waterways has occurred advise local emergency services. Methods and materials for containment and clean up: Slippery when spilt. Avoid accidents, clean up immediately. Wear protective equipment to prevent skin and eye contact and breathing in vapours. Work up wind or increase ventilation. Contain - prevent run off into drains and waterways. Use absorbent (soil, sand or other inert material). Collect and seal in properly labelled containers or drums for disposal. 7. HANDLING AND STORAGE Classified as a C1 (COMBUSTIBLE LIQUID) for the purpose of storage and handling, in accordance with the requirements of AS 1940. Refer to State Regulations for storage and transport requirements. Conditions for safe storage: Store in a cool, dry, well ventilated place and out of direct sunlight. Store away from incompatible materials described in Section 10. Store away from sources of heat or ignition. Avoid temperatures >40 C. Nitrogen blanket recommended for large tanks (capacity 100m3 or higher). Exposure to nitrogen may cause asphyxiation or death. Personnel must observe strict safety precautions when involved with a confined space entry. Keep containers closed when not in use - check regularly for leaks. Precautions for safe handling: Avoid skin and eye contact and breathing in vapour. Vapour may travel a considerable distance to source of ignition and flash back. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. 8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION Propane-1,2-diol (propylene glycol) (total: vapour & particulates): 8hr TWA = 474 mg/m 3 (150 ppm); (particulates only): 8hr TWA = 10 mg/m 3 Page 2 of 5

As published by the National Occupational Health and Safety Commission. TWA - The time-weighted average airborne concentration over an eight-hour working day, for a five-day working week over an entire working life. These Exposure Standards are guides to be used in the control of occupational health hazards. All atmospheric contamination should be kept to as low a level as is workable. These exposure standards should not be used as fine dividing lines between safe and dangerous concentrations of chemicals. They are not a measure of relative toxicity. Engineering controls: Ensure ventilation is adequate to maintain air concentrations below Exposure Standards. If inhalation risk exists: Use with local exhaust ventilation or while wearing organic vapour respirator. Vapour heavier than air - prevent concentration in hollows or sumps. DO NOT enter confined spaces where vapour may have collected. Keep containers closed when not in use. Personal Protective Equipment: The selection of PPE is dependant on a detailed risk assessment. The risk assessment should consider the work situation, the physical form of the chemical, the handling methods, and environmental factors. Orica Personal Protection Guide No. 1, 1998: B - OVERALLS, SAFETY SHOES, SAFETY GLASSES, GLOVES. Wear overalls, safety glasses and impervious gloves. Always wash hands before smoking, eating, drinking or using the toilet. If risk of inhalation exists, wear organic vapour respirator meeting the requirements of AS/NZS 1715 and AS/NZS 1716. 9. PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES Physical state: Liquid Colour: Colourless Odour: Odourless Solubility: Miscible with water. Specific Gravity: 1.036 @20 C Relative Vapour Density (air=1): 2.5 @20 C Vapour Pressure (20 C): ca. 10 Pa Flash Point ( C): 99 Flammability Limits (%): 2.6-12.6 Autoignition Temperature ( C): 421 Boiling Point/Range ( C): 186-189 ph: Not available Freezing Point/Range ( C): -59 Page 3 of 5

10. STABILITY AND REACTIVITY Chemical stability: Conditions to avoid: Stable. Hygroscopic: absorbs moisture or water from surrounding air. Avoid exposure to heat, sources of ignition, and open flame. Avoid temperatures above 40 C. Incompatible materials: Incompatible with strong oxidising agents, and strong acids. Hazardous decomposition products: Hazardous reactions: Carbon monoxide. None known. 11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION No adverse health effects expected if the product is handled in accordance with this Safety Data Sheet and the product label. Symptoms or effects that may arise if the product is mishandled and overexposure occurs are: Ingestion: Eye contact: Skin contact: Inhalation: No adverse effects expected, however, large amounts may cause nausea and vomiting. May be an eye irritant. Not irritating to the skin. Breathing in vapour may produce respiratory irritation. Long Term Effects: Non-carcinogenic based on animal studies. Non-mutagenic. No reproductive or developmental effects. Cats given high doses of MPG in diet showed a decrease in red blood cell survival. Toxicological Data: Oral LD50 (rat): >5000 mg/kg 12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION Ecotoxicity Persistence/degradability and mobility Avoid contaminating waterways. The material is readily biodegradable. 13. DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS Disposal methods: Refer to local government authority for disposal recommendations. Material can be recycled. Waste material should be combined with an inert material such as sawdust to form a stable sludge which can then be disposed of at a licensed hazardous waste landfill. 14.
