1. RULES 1.1. The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2017 2020. 1.2. The prescriptions of Yachting Australia (YA) will apply. 1.3. YA SR Part 1, Category 5. 1.4. The Sailing Instructions may change the rules. 2. ADVERTISING 2.1. Advertising will be restricted to Category A. 2.2. Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organising authority. 3. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY 3.1. The regatta is restricted to yachts of 6 meters overall length or longer that satisfy Rule 4 below, with the exception that: 3.1.1. Yachts of the Jubilee Class may enter. 3.2. Eligible boats may enter by completing the on-line form and paying the required fee to WMSC by Wednesday, 2 nd May. 3.3. Late entries will be accepted as detailed in the Sailing Instructions. 4. MEASUREMENTS 4.1. Yachts will be eligible to enter Division 1 or Division 2 if they: 4.1.1. Are designed or built prior to 1973. 4.1.2. Satisfy the description of spirit of tradition, which is a yacht considered by the Organising Committee to be of traditional appearance. 5. DIVISIONS 5.1. Division 1 Traditional Boats shall be 32 feet LOA or longer. 5.2. Division 2 Traditional Boats shall be of LOA less than 32 feet. 5.2.1. Division allocation can be varied in consultation with the handicapper. 6. FEES 6.1. The entry fee for the regatta is $55.00.
7. SCHEDULE 7.1. Sign on at WMYC 5 th May, 08:00 hrs. 7.2. Briefing at WMYC 5 th May, 08:00 hrs. 7.3. Course selection for 5 th May available at clubhouse, 08:00 hrs. 7.4. Dates of racing 5th and 6 th May 7.5. Number of races per day: 7.5.1. Saturday: Two. 7.5.2. Sunday: One. 8. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS 8.1. The sailing instructions will be available after 11 th April, 2017, from the event website: wmyc-events.com.au 9. VENUE 9.1. 510 542 Royal Esplanade, Manly, QLD 4179 10. LOCATION 10.1. The location of the regatta is Moreton Bay: South of the Main Channel, west of the Rous Channel and north of Coochiemudlo Island. 11. THE COURSES 11.1. The courses are detailed in the Sailing Instructions. (The courses will be selected from the WMYC / WMSC Course Booklet) 11.2. The OOD will endeavor to set courses so that the duration of each race is approximately 2 to 3 hrs duration 12. PENALTY SYSTEM 12.1. Rule 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty. 12.2. Decisions of the Protest Committee will be final, as provided in Rule 70.5. 13. SCORING 13.1. The Low Points System shall be used. 13.2. Two races are required to be completed to constitute a series.
14. SUPPORT BOATS 14.1. Support boats shall be marked with WMYC burgee. 15. HAUL-OUT RESTRICTIONS 15.1. Keelboats shall not be hauled out during the regatta except with and according to the terms of prior written permission of the Race Committee. 16. DIVING EQUIPMENT AND PLASTIC POOLS 16.1. Underwater breathing apparatus and plastic pools or their equivalent shall not be used around keelboats between the preparatory signal of the first race and the end of the regatta. 17. RADIO COMMUNICATION 17.1. Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither initiate radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones. All boats shall carry a VHF radio. Radio function shall be demonstrated by use of the radio to log into the start vessel on 72 MHz prior to the 1st warning signal. Yachts that fail to log on by radio shall be scored DNS. 17.2. It is a minimum safety requirement that yachts demonstrate their radio function outside the boat harbour. 18. PRIZES 18.1. The Committee reserves the right to vary the prizes without notice. 18.2. Prizes will, as far as possible, be detailed in the Sailing Instructions. 19. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY 19.1. Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS Rule 4, Decision to Race. 19.2. The organising authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with, prior to, during, or after the regatta.
20. INSURANCE 20.1. Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance, with a minimum cover of $5,000,000 per event or the equivalent ($10,000,000 is preferred). Boats not berthed at the WMYC marina are required to provide have a copy of their current insurance with their entry. 21. COLREGS (1972) 21.1. The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) apply only between those yachts that are participating in the event, for the duration of the event. Should interaction occur with non-participating ships, the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea 1972 apply. 22. SHORE BASED CONTACTS Skippers will provide the name and contact number of a Shore Based Contact for their yacht. The Yacht Shore Based Contact shall have a full list of yacht s crew and their individual respective Shore based Contact name and phone number. It is the Skipper s duty to ensure the Yacht Shore Based Contact has a current crew and contact list and that the yacht Shore Based Contact is aware that in the event of an emergency they will be contacted by Race Control or Water Police and asked to supply the detailed crew contact list.
