April Rally change of times / AGM Please note that there is a change of times and format for this rally as there is a twilight harness meeting at the racecourse on Sunday afternoon. We need to vacate the racecourse by 2.30pm so we will only be running 3 riding sessions to allow time for our AGM. Please refer to the rally plan for details and please note that to gain attendance for this rally riders must participate in all 3 sessions and have a family member present for the duration of the AGM. For bio-security reasons we will be unable to use the stalls area at this rally. Please ensure you tie your horses securely to your floats and clean up ALL manure and hay at the end of the day. Due to time constraints we will not be able to run theory classes at this rally and the group photo will now be done at the May rally. Please consider putting your hand up for a role at our AGM. Parental support is vital to the successful running of our club and you might even have some fun along the way!! Membership renewals By now you should have received via email an invoice for membership renewal along with membership, horsemanship and medical forms. Please ensure that fees are paid by Sunday 19th May and that completed forms are returned to our secretary, Tracey Newnham, at Sunday s rally. This information is required in order for the club to submit the yearly strength return in order to comply with PCAV regulations. CTD now in August Due to clash with another local equestrian event our Annual Combined Training Day will now be held on 25 August (4th Sunday in August) instead of May. This event will be classed as our official August rally. ALL families are expected to assist in running of this event, which is our main yearly fundraiser. Please mark the date in your calendar. Rider Profile Name: Haylea Wright Age: 13 Horse/s: Diesel My horse is special because... Diesel is special because I have taught him everything about eventing as he was a polo horse before we bought him. What I like most about pony club... I like seeing all my friends and I look forward to learning new things. What I dislike most about pony club... I dislike that we don t have many big jumps on our cross country course. (Editors note: expect to see some new jumps on the xc course very soon!!) When I m not riding I like to... play netball. This year I really want to... go up to Grade 2. If I could have one wish it would be... to be eventing in the Olympics. New qualifying rule Any riders wishing to bring two horses to a rally can now have attendance marked on their cards for BOTH horses, provided they ride each horse for two sessions. ie. each horse participates in 50% of the rally program. This will make it easier for those with more than one horse to achieve their minimum requirement of two rallies on each horse to enable them to be graded and to compete in pony club events. First Aid Course We have organised a first aid training day on Saturday 11 May. The venue is to be confirmed but will hopefully be the Trainer s Bar at Kilmore Racecourse. The training is for a full day and will give participants a Certificate II in First Aid. There will be a focus on injuries associated with horse riding. The cost is $150 per person. Please book in by contacting Tracey Newnham on 0409 511 439 or emailing newlec@bigpond.com. A big thanks to Donna Green for organising this important training.
Danielle Wright competing at State Horse Trials Congratulations to Danielle Wright who has qualified to compete at the PCAV State Horse Trials Championships to be held at Deniliquin Pony Club on the 4th & 5th of May. Danielle has qualified on Mondiso Park Jackson in Grade 2. State Horse Trials State Championships are usually held on the first weekend in May. This is a three-phase competition of dressage, cross-country and show jumping for Grade 1 and 2 riders. Grade 1 riders wanting to compete in this event must qualify by completing two Grade 1 accredited Horse Trials in the 12 months prior to the Championships, without elimination or incurring more than 60 jumping penalties in the cross-country. Grade 2 riders must complete three Grade 2 events. According to PCAV rules, at least one qualification must be gained during the calendar year of the Championships. Each of the ten zones, in rotation, host this event. Danielle and Jack achieved the following results to qualify: 29 Sept Werribee PC HT Grade 2 19th, 24 Feb Glenlyon PC HT Grade 2 5th overall, Gisborne HT Grade 2 4nd overall & Best. Danielle has done very well to achieve these results as she is also studying Year 11 at Kilmore International School this year. We all wish Danielle the best of luck at the Championships and look forward to seeing photos and a report in the May newsletter.
