Thank you Novice Room Coaches For all of your time and dedication to Media Youth Wrestling You are wonderful!!!! ** Will Giles ** We are so proud of how well you have wrestled this season! Keep up the good work! We love you! Mommy, Daddy, Harry & Andrew Media Youth Wrestling History Media Youth Wrestling was founded in 1997. Lee Sitkowski, then Penncrest Wrestling Head Coach, worked with Penncrest Assistant Coach Ron Frank and active wrestling booster Roy Bell to recruit volunteers and conduct our first youth wrestling clinics. They saw the need to build a strong high school program through a strong youth program. Even today, the bonds between Media Youth Wrestling, Springton Lake Middle School, and Penncrest High School are strong. Today most of the PHS varsity wrestling team is comprised of former MYW wrestlers. One of their first recruits was Hank Ternove, an active local resident who saw the need to establish Media Youth Wrestling in the community. He worked with local officials, school district representatives, and anyone with an interest to formalize the group as a sustainable youth program. Big Hank still appears at club events, and our Most Valuable Wrestler award is named the Ternove Trophy in his honor. Some of the early coaches and leaders of Media Youth Wrestling were John Best, Dave Clifton, John Pantle, Ray Resnick, John Westby, Tom Muir, Bob Arbaugh, and John Guy. From the outset, the emphasis has been on sportsmanship and fun, and those goals have kept Media Youth Wrestling a strong and enthusiastic group. The first practice room for Media Youth Wrestling was located in a detached utility building behind Penncrest High School. It was a sweat oven, where the padded walls fell down and there were no bathrooms or decent water fountains. It was the perfect place to start a wrestling tradition. Now the club is hitting its second generation of leadership, having graduated many of these founding parents and wrestling groups to the next level. Rebuilding is a normal part of any volunteer organization. A new coaching staff of familiar and new names now leads the program Ron Frank, Sean Orr, Chuck Chuckie Mulloy, Steve Bear Resnick, Mark Walsh and Neil Davis. Dave Voghel, Marc DeJong, Joe Guinan and Lee Tassoni continue to direct the program, working to keep Media Youth Wrestling informed and together. In 2003, Media Youth Wrestling hit a pinnacle with its inaugural Media Wrangletown Invitational tournament. We thank all the wrestlers who celebrated our first tournament with us, and hope you re coming back to these future events. 1998-1999 Taylor Clifton 1999-2000 Jimmy Resnick 2000-2001 Will Resnick 2001-2002 Nick Stephens 2002-2003 Andrew Mariani 2003-2004 Will Resnick 2004-2005 Patrick Kirk 2005-2006 Liam Frank 2006-2007 Ryan Stocku 2007-2008 Brendan Stocku 2008-2009 Liam Frank 2009-2010 Christian Bateman 2010-2011 Blair Orr 2011-2012 Dayton Delviscio 2012-2013 Christian Reed 2013-2014 Blair Orr 2014-2015 Dayton Delviscio
