Tips Don t assume that being a Motorsport company is enough Learn the market, use the right language, bring in knowledge Build a presence Be at your customers side, attend their events, if your always there they know you are serious Build on partnerships, select customers Press The Marine Press embrace new technology and new ideas Build a contact base of press and be ready to provide stories Listen to the market Your potential customers will lead you to the opportunities We are not always right!!
Motorsport to Marine Programme Back in 2006 I was asked to present at an MIA/BMF meeting during Cowes week, explaining what we had done with the RYA After the presentation I spoke to a lady who was representing the National Boat Shows, I asked her if she knew anyone at a Marine Electronics Company called Tacktick Turned out the company was owned by her husband and she called him to come off the race course and meet me. We worked closely with Tacktick to create a wireless interface between our products (Pi Garda and Tacktick T108) Last week at the London Boat Show, Cosworth and Tacktick announced a co-distribution partnership agreement to sell and distribute each other products Thank you to the MIA and BMF...
What we do! Black Boxes - Data Logging & Processing Recording of Sensors and Systems into a single data file with everything synchronized at up to 1000 readings a second Real Time processing and applications Sensors Standard and Intelligent sensors for accurate measurements Video Synchronized video, Frame by Frame, data point by data point Multiple cameras viewing crew, sail shape, foils, etc Analysis Powerful analysis tools for analyzing the data and Tack, Gybe, Tuning, Start line and 2 boat testing
Who s it for? Performance Team (Driver and Team Strategist) How good was the Gybe, did we get a shift, did we drop too early Was it the best line, what was my corning speed, did I brake too.. Designers (Engineers) Is the design as we expected, are the loads correct, does the sail shape agree with CFD, what do the Polar s look like? Are we achieving the expected grip, are the damper settings correct, are we getting the right horsepower, what s the drag figure? Media.. Why is one boat quicker, heart rate in the pre start, communications at the mark. Why is Hamilton faster than Button in Sector 2? Car to Pit Comms,
Education & Progression Early in the career of a Racing Driver we teach the ability to analyze performance, Racing line, speed in the corner, braking, accelerating, turn in. We now try to bring our youth squads of dinghy sailors along the same path, to be self critical and to analyze and train in an organized manner. Min Speed in a tack, line round a mark, sheeting, tiller control, weight transfer.
