The Wildcats opened Big Sky play with an 87-75 win at Montana State Thursday night. WSU knocked down 17 3-pointers in the win. Weber State has won four-straight games and is 6-6 overall this season. Montana is 6-8 on the season and has won three straight games. The Grizzlies opened Big Sky play with a win over Idaho State Thursday night. WILDCATS OPEN BIG SKY PLAY WITH WIN AT MONTANA STATE Weber State won its fourth-straight game with an 87-75 victory at Montana State Thursday night in Bozeman to open Big Sky Conference play. The Wildcats shot 54 percent from the field and 54 percent from 3-point land. WSU also dished out 17 assists and had just eight turnovers. The Cats never trailed in the second half. 3-POINT SHOOTING Weber State knocked down 17 3-pointers in the win over the Bobcats Thursday night, which is tied for the third most in a game in school history and is the most ever by the Wildcats against a Division I opponent. WSU finished 17-of-31 from 3-point range. Weber State leads the conference and is 13th in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage at 41.2 percent. The Cats have made at least nine 3-pointers in all six wins this season. WSU is averaging 13.3 3-pointers per game in the six wins, but only 5.7 3 s a game in the six losses. SENGLIN SETS ALL-TIME 3-POINT RECORD Eight of Weber State s 17 3-pointers in Thursday s win came from Jeremy Senglin who finished the game 8-of-19 from 3-point land. He made his first seven 3-pointers, all in the first half. His third 3-pointer made his Weber State s career leader as he moved past Scott Bamforth for the school record. Senglin finished with a game-high 27 points on 9-of-16 shooting and had four rebounds and four assists. This season the Arlington, Texas, native currently ranks fifth in the Big Sky in scoring and 19.7 points per game and is now third in the nation in 3-pointers per game at 4.3. In 102 career games at Weber State, Senglin now has 264 career 3-pointers, which ranks fourth in Big Sky Conference history. He is 45 3-pointers shy from becoming the Big Sky s all-time leader. Senglin also needs 19 more points to pass Jermaine Boyette (2000-03) and move into fourth and 30 more points to pass Jimmy DeGraffenried and move into third place on the Weber State career scoring list. CAREER-HIGH FOR CODY JOHN Weber State sophomore Cody John posted a career-high 16 points in Thursday s win at Montana State. John was 5-of-8 from the field, 2-of-3 from 3-point land and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line for his 16 points. He also had three rebounds and three assists in the win. It was the sixth time this season John has scored in double figures. The Mississauga, Canada, native has started all 12 games for the Wildcats this season and is averaging 9.0 points and 2.8 assists per game. 16 POINTS FOR DUSTY BAKER Weber State junior Dusty Baker also scored 16 points in Thursday s win as he was 5-of-9 from the field, including 4-of-8 from 3-point range in the win. Baker lead the Big Sky in 3-point field goal percentage at 62.2 percent. He has scored in double figures in six of WSU s 12 games this season. The Coto de Caza, California, native is second on the Wildcat team in scoring at 9.8 points this season. ROAD WARRIORS Weber State is in the midst of a four-game road streak and will play five of its first Big Sky games on the road. WSU is 2-3 in true road games this season. The Wildcats will close out the year with five of the last seven games at home. HAPPY NEW YEAR S EVE This will be Weber State s fifth-ever game played on New Year s Eve. The Wildcats are 2-2 all-time on December 31 with the last game being played in 2011. The Wildcats last road game on New Year s Eve was in 2010 at Montana, where WSU lost 75-56. LOOKING AHEAD After Saturday, Weber State will conclude its four-game road streak with just one game next week, playing at Idaho State on Saturday, Jan. 7. The Cats will then return home the following week to host Idaho and Eastern Washington. 2

Montana opened Big Sky play with a 74-62 win over Idaho State Thursday night. After starting the season 1-6, UM has since win five of its last seven games. Montana ranks second in the Big Sky and 22nd in the nation in free throw percentage at 76.3 percent. The Grizzlies are also fourth in the league in scoring defense, 3-point percentage defense, blocks and assists. UM ranks 11th in rebounding at 32.9. Individually, the Grizzlies are led by sophomore Ahmaad Rorie who is ninth in the Big Sky in scoring at 16.1 per game. Rorie, who transferred to Montana from Oregon, scored 24 points in the win over Idaho State Thursday night. Senior Walter Wright is averaging 10.6 points per game and lead the Big Sky in free throw percentage. Junior Fabijan Krslovic is fourth in rebounding at 7.6 per game. Montana finished 21-12 overall last season and was second to Weber State in the Big Sky at 14-4. The Wildcats beat the Grizzlies in the Big Sky Tournament championship game in Reno. The Grizzlies have eight letterwinners returning off last year s squad and were picked to finish second in the media poll and fourth in the coaches poll this season. HEAD COACH TRAVIS DECUIRE The Grizzlies are coached by Travis Decuire who is in his third season at Montana. Decuire enters Saturday s game with a career record of 47-33 at Montana and is 29-8 in Big Sky games. Decuire is a former Montana player and spent six seasons as an assistant at the University of California before coming to Montana. SERIES HISTORY Saturday s game will be the 125th all-time meeting between Weber State and Montana, two charter members of the Big Sky that have met every year since 1963. Weber State holds a 69-55 all-time series lead and the Cats have won three of the last five games. WSU won 2-0 last season, winning in Ogden and then beating the Grizzlies in the Big Sky Tournament championship game in Reno. Coach, 88-89 HEAD COACH RANDY RAHE Randy Rahe is in his 11th season as the head coach for the Weber State men s basketball program. Rahe is now Weber State s all-time winningest coach and is the Big Sky Conference s career leader in conference wins. In his 10 seasons at Weber State, Rahe has led the Wildcats to five Big Sky titles and eight postseason tournament appearances, including three trips to the NCAA Tournament. He is also the first coach in Big Sky Conference history to be named conference Coach of the Year four times and has coached six Big Sky MVP s in his 10 seasons at Weber State. Rahe has a career record of 214-119 (.643) with the Wildcats and is 130-43 (.751) in Big Sky games. He has the most in Weber State history and the third most in Big Sky history and the 129 wins are the most conference wins in Big Sky history. During the 2015-16 season, Rahe led the Wildcats to a 26-9 season that included a Big Sky regular season title and the conference postseason tournament championship. Weber State also made its second trip to the NCAA Tournament in the last three years. Rahe coached Joel Bolomboy to Big Sky MVP and Defensive Player of the Year honors as well as Jeremy Senglin to first team All-Big Sky honors. Bolomboy was drafted in the second round of the 2016 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz. Rahe has had great success at the Dee Events Center, amassing a career record of 129-23 at home. He also has an incredible 76-10 home record in Big Sky regular season games. In 2013-14, WSU set a Big Sky record with 27 straight conference regular season home victories. The Wildcats have led the Big Sky in attendance for six straight seasons and have had and one of the best attendances of any school in the western United States. In addition to being named Big Sky Coach of the Year for a record four times, Rahe has also been a finalist for the Skip Prosser Award, Rahe s career record honoring the nation s head coaches who also exhibit strong moral against Big Sky opponents character. Rahe has coached 29 Big Sky All-Conference performers and 21 Big Sky Academic All-Conference performers in his team with the Wildcats. The Wildcats have won 10 or more conference wins in nine of his 10 seasons at Weber State. Rahe has coached five players to Big Sky MVP honors six times, including Joel Bolomboy in 2016. Bolomboy joined Davion Berry in 2014, Damian Lillard, who won the award in 2010 and 2012, Kellen McCoy and David Patten as MVP s under coach Rahe s watch. Returning with the Wildcat coaching staff is Associate Head Coach Eric Duft who is in his 11th season at Weber State. Garrett Lever returns for his fifth season at WSU and new this year is assistant coach David Marek. David Moats returns for his third season as the Director of Basketball Operations. Rahe was born June 12, 1960. He and his wife Laura are the parents of two sons, Luke and Kade. Laura is a women s basketball official in the Mountain West, WAC and West Coast Conferences.
