CCC Welcomes New September Members Michael Taillon ~ Associate Lee Postal ~ Associate Tom Summerford ~ Associate George Lusk ~ Jr. Associate Andrew Palmer ~ Social John Smith ~ Social Michael Murphy ~ Social Dear Members, On my desk at work, I keep a quote attributed to Helen Keller. Rendered deaf and blind by illness as an infant in rural Alabama, she was a remarkable woman by any measure. Reflecting on her limitations, she said, I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do. In some ways, I think our club is the very embodiment of that quote. We cannot do everything we d like, but still, we can do something. Just because we cannot do everything, we shouldn t refuse to do the some things we can do. The recent announcement of the assessment unanimously approved by the board was the culmination of a great deal of deliberation and hard work by the board and the club s management. No one, including the board, likes an assessment. However, we firmly believe it is the right thing to do now, and for the future of our club. I believe the board was elected to make decisions that are in the best interests of the entire club, even though those decisions may not be popular. The vast majority of those who have contacted me or the club agree with the assessment, even though they may not like it. As a club owned by and governed by the membership, we share a unique responsibility to ensure our club is healthy and viable now, and for the future. I appreciate the fact that so many members contacted me to discuss our situation, and I appreciate their dedication and devotion to our club. No one can accuse our members of being apathetic, which I think is a great thing. The board and I appreciate your support, and your enthusiasm for making our club the best it can be. You may be only one, but you are one get involved, sign up for a committee, volunteer for a project you re passionate about. We can t do everything, but together we can do an incredible lot. Board President, CCC

The recent cool weather has begun to slow turf growth and golfing conditions could not be better at CCC. Between mowing, spraying weeds and installing the new Forward Tees, the staff and I stayed busy throughout the month of September. In October, we will be adjusting our mowing schedule as the weather allows and only mowing on an as needed basis through the fall. This will allow us to begin working on some of the projects and repairs that have been overlooked during the summer months. Also, we will be overseeding the Driving Range tee and the area around the Chipping green with Perennial Ryegrass. After seeding, our watering and mowing practices will be altered until the Ryegrass is sufficiently established. I would like to remind everyone to be courteous to your fellow golfer and remember to rake out bunkers and fill your divots. The golf course maintenance staff and I look forward to seeing everyone on the golf course enjoying the wonderful fall weather! Golf Course Superintendent As I write this Fall weather has finally arrived!!! Come out and enjoy the club!!! Whether it is playing golf, eating dinner or sipping on a nice beverage outside fall is the perfect season to spend time with family and friends at your club. The fall season is a busy time at the club with Monday outings and other outside events in addition to member activity. Keep in mind these outside events bring in significant revenue to the club and are necessary in helping to sustain the club. The golf staff will attempt to minimize member inconvenience but please pay attention to the schedule so you are informed as to the activities at your club. PGA Golf Professional / General Manager
