For market & commercial animals, Louisiana bred ear tag numbers are needed if they are LA Bred. If you don t fill that out on the entry form, they will NOT be entered as LA Bred.

RULES** Seafood Cookery Contest Rules: 1. Bring to the contest a prepared seafood dish. This dish must be cold and you ONLY bring one (1) serving. The recipe must contain at least one cup of fresh, frozen, pasteurized or dried Louisiana Seafood*. No canned seafood may be used. Surimi or artificial crab made from fish cannot be used. There can be NO RAW seafood in the final dish. Entries in Divisions 1 thru 5 may contain a small amount of a second seafood but not more than ½ of the amount of the primary seafood. For example: a recipe could contain one cup of crab as the primary seafood and ½ cup of shrimp as the secondary seafood. *See the Louisiana Seafood list attached. The 5 divisions are: CRAB, CRAWFISH, FISH/OTHER SEAFOOD, OYSTER and SHRIMP. 2. Bring a copy of the recipe with the dish. Your name, school & division should be on the back. This must be written in recipe form on 8 ½ x 11 sheet and placed under the dish. Recipes may be used in publicity and printed on publications by the donors. 3. A contestant may enter as many divisions as he or she wishes, but may only enter one dish per division & can win overall in only one division. All parish contestants will receive participation ribbons. Overall winners will receive a plaque and represent the Parish in the District Cookery competition on May 1st. 4. Scoring Factors: #1. Recipe - correct format and requirements - 15 points, #2. Appearance / Presentation - 35 points, #3. Taste - 50 points **PLEASE NOTE: Participants are NOT to deliberately enter more than one entry of the SAME DISH in the same category. For example, you may not cook one dish and have two siblings/friends/classmates/etc. enter the identical dishes** Commodity Ambassador Program: ask leader for details or email office! (Public Speaking Contest) Talent Show: Dec 8, 2015-6 p.m., Amite Elementary School: There will be a talent show during the judging of the Seafood Cookery. The leader needs to let the 4-H office know what you will be doing no later than December 7 at 3 p.m. There can only be 2 talents per club, with each talent lasting no more than 3 minutes (talent will be cut off if longer than 3 minutes). Please only age appropriate performances. Points will be given in this order: 50 points for Club participation -- 15 points for 1 st Place -- 10 points for 2 nd Place -- 5 points for 3 rd Place. Southeast District Junior Livestock Show Poster Contest: Open to all 4-H members; Division I is 6 th grade and younger and Division II is 7 th grade and older. Poster dimensions are 17 ½ X 22 ½ with a 1 white border around the perimeter of the drawing. The poster will be the original work of the participant. The poster must be drawn/painted/sketched by the participant only. Pen and ink, pencils, paints, markers, colors, watercolors are all acceptable media. Place name, division, grade, address, parish and 4-H on back upper left hand corner of the poster. The theme for 2016 will be 2016 Southeast District Jr. Livestock Show 4-H/FFA Steers You On The Right Path. A $50.00 gift will be given to the first place winner in each division. 2 nd place will receive a $15.00 gift and third place a $10.00 gift. All entries are due to the 4-H office no later than December 8, 2015. 4-H Adopt-A-Resident for Christmas: We will again assist Evergreen Life Services (formally Hammond State School) with the 4-H Adopt-A-Resident Program. We have requested a list of names of residents who will not receive gifts unless a 4-H club adopts them. Let us know if your club wishes to participate. Your leader has details about this community service project and all gifts will be due in the office by December 8 th by 4:00 p.m. All gifts must be in a gift bag, NOT wrapped. Call or email us by December 8 th if you need gifts to be picked up. (Residents are ADULTS) Sewing Workshop: November 23, 2015, Monday at the Amite office. Call the office to sign-up, class is limited to 25. Each 4-H er must bring their own sewing machine, material, pattern, scissors, thread, pins, & extension cord. Participants will receive assistance in cutting out garment and beginning sewing techniques. Garments may need to be completed at home. If you cut your garment out at home, you will probably be able to finish your garment at the workshop. The finished garment will be modeled during the Fashion Show on March 1, 2016. There will be 3 categories for 4 th - 7 th graders: aprons, skirts and pajama bottoms. 4-H ers may only enter one garment for parish competition. 4-H ers in grades 8 thru 12 must make a complete outfit. 8 th 12 th grade garments will need to be turned into the 4-H office no later than February 23, 2016 (with the Ready to Wear form) and the garment will be judged on construction. All 4-H ers entering the Fashion Show must turn in a 30-40 word script describing their garment. This

script will be read aloud while the 4-H er models their garment and will be due to the 4-H office no later than February 26, 2016. All contestants will be interviewed prior to modeling garments. Bike Hike / Wetlands Day: Tuesday, November 24, 2015, Tickfaw State Park, 10 a.m. Registration deadline November 18, 2015- $5.00 per participant, leader has entry forms and they were given out at October meetings. NEW State Rabbit Show: The State 4-H program has voted to offer a state rabbit show this year. The show will be separate from the State Livestock show in Gonzales and held on March 12 th at het LSU AgCenter Evacuation Facility on the LSU Alexandria Campus. The entry forms, schedules, etc. haven t been formulated as of yet. Contact Ms. Megan at the 4-H office if you are interested. She is creating an email database of anyone interested in showing rabbits so she can inform them once the details have been set. She has the rules and they have been sent out to members already on the rabbit list. Rabbits will not be included at the parish or district livestock shows. JoAnna T. Tangi 4-H Pet Parade and Family Fun Fest 4-H Club / School Booth Information 4-H Club Booths: Each 4-H club is asked to run a fundraising booth or table (bake sale, face painting, raffle, games, photos, etc. Be creative! Try to think of "pet related" activities, if possible.). Leaders please send an email to: tangipahoa@agcenter.lsu.edu or jpesson@agcenter.lsu.edu to secure booth activity ASAP to avoid duplicate activities/food. There are no restrictions on booth size for 4-H clubs. Clubs must bring all tables and materials that they need for their booth as well as provide members and/or parents and leaders to conduct the activity at their booth. The Pet Parade Committee will have space assigned to each club. 4-H clubs will only have to pay a $20.00 space fee and all the remaining money can be kept by the clubs. Please reserve your spot now. The $20.00 fee should be turned in to JoAnna or Melissa before Monday, January 18 th. Booths may open as early as 11:00 a.m. Please ensure that someone is stationed at your booth prior to the end of the parade and that your booth is not unattended at any time during the event. Tangipahoa Parish 4-H PET PARADE POSTER / TSHIRT DESIGN CONTEST Due December 1, 2015 4-H members may participate in the Pet Parade poster/t-shirt design contest by turning in posters to their leaders at their November club meeting or to the 4H Extension Office in Amite no later than DECEMBER 1 ST at 4:00 p.m. RULES 1. Poster must be half of a full-size poster board, horizontal or vertical on poster board only. 2. Do not attach anything to the poster that is more than 1/16 inch thick. 11 th Annual Tangipahoa Parish 4-H Pet Parade Superhero 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run Monday, January 18, 2016-at Chappapeela Sports Park, 19325 Hipark Blvd., Hammond, LA 5K ($25 early, $30 after Jan 4, 2016), 1 Mile ($15 early, $20 after Jan 4, 2016), Pet Parade ($15 early, $20 after Jan 4, 2016), Pet Contests ($5 early, $10 after Jan 4, 2016) Registration 11 a.m. 1 p.m., 5K without pets starts 1:15 p.m., 1 Mile without pets starts 1:30 p.m., Pet Parade starts 1:45 p.m., Pet Contests start 2:30 p.m. Dogs and Cats ONLY (must be on leash or in pet carrier), OPEN TO THE PUBLIC! 3. Overall Winning Poster will be used for the Pet Parade T-shirt design and student will receive a $60 credit towards the participant s age appropriate 4H camp of their choice (4H summer camp, Challenge Camp, 4H University, etc.) 8. (Not required, but may include) Fun pet contests include Best Superhero themed float, Best Other Themed float, Best Original Costume, Friendliest, and Pet / Owner Look A Like. Activities and Concession Booths! Family Friendly Festival Atmosphere! Entrants will receive points and ribbons as in other contests. Additional prizes will also be awarded to overall winners. Tangipahoa Parish 4-H SPRING GARDEN DAY POSTER CONTEST (Posters are due at your January club meeting or by February 2, 2016) Posters are due at the 4H Extension Office in Amite no later than Tuesday, February 2, 2016 or if you have them ready they can be turned in at your club s January meeting. Posters will be used throughout the parish for advertising Spring Garden day. The posters should be pretty, attract attention, and easy to read from at least 10 feet or more away since they may be displayed in a business window as advertisement for the event. RULES 1. Poster must be half of a full-size poster board, horizontal or vertical on poster board 2. The poster must contain the following information: Spring Garden Day, Saturday, March 12, 2016, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Hammond Research Station, 21549 Old Covington Hwy, Hammond, LA. Admission $5.00 per vehicle. 3. The poster must also include the following information: Kids Activities; Master Gardeners Plant Sale & Plant Swap; Educational Gardening Exhibits; Gardening Advice; Educational Seminars; Concessions also available. 4. Event sponsored by the Tangipahoa Parish Master Gardener s Association and LSU AgCenter. 5. Be sure to place your name, school (and/or club), and grade on the back of the poster in the upper right hand corner (for judging results). 6. There will be two categories for judging computer generated posters (all or part) and non-computer generated. 7. Posters will not be returned to 4-H members. Winning posters will be displayed around town to advertise the Spring Garden Day event. 8. Cash award(s) will be presented at Achievement Day to the overall winners. Awards as per other 4-H poster contests: Points and a 1 st, 2 nd or 3 rd place ribbon to each qualifying participant. Two overall winners (one in each category) get 25 points and $25.00 cash each from the sponsors the Tangipahoa Parish Master Gardeners Association. Club points per age division: 15 for 1 st place, 10 for 2 nd place, and 5 for 3 rd place. Award ribbons will be sent to club leaders. Posters WILL NOT be returned, they will be used for Advertisement. The winners checks will be presented by Master Gardeners at 4-H Fest.
