GENERAL INFORMATION The enjoyment of Golf depends a great deal on the cooperation, sportsmanship, consideration and courtesy extended by fellow competitors. It is essential that our personal behaviour contributes to the enjoyment of the game for the rest of the field. The standards of a Golf Club may be judged by the etiquette of its members. SAFETY NOTICE The Work Health and Safety Act requires that the Club must maintain a safe working environment for its staff, volunteers and contractors. Procedures to prevent injury to ground staff, volunteers and contractors from golf balls are as follows: Green Maintenance: When the flag has been removed the green is out of play and golfers are NOT to hit to the green until the flag is replaced. Fairway and Rough Maintenance: Golfers MUST wait for an approaching vehicle or mower to pass behind, or out of range before playing their shots. Alternatively golfers may be called on to play their shots by the operator. Other Situations: In all other situations golfers MUST receive acknowledgement from ground staff, volunteers and contractors who are in range before playing a shot. Failure to comply with the above procedures could result in the Club being prosecuted under the Work Health and Safety Act. DRESS CODE Applies all areas of clubhouse and on course Members, guests and visitors are requested to present themselves in a neat, clean and tidy manner of dress, which at no time will provoke complaints, be offensive or embarrass other members. Indecent language and unruly/aggressive behavior will not be tolerated. Children must be under the strict supervision of their parents/guardians at all times. Hats and thongs may be worn in the Sprig Bar. STAFF AT ALL TIMES HAVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE TO ANY PERSON WHO DOES NOT COMPLY WITH THE ABOVE GUIDELINES. GENERAL Club members are to refrain from making direct complaints to any staff members. Any complaints or issues must be directed to the Club Manager in writing. Check local rules appearing on score card and on notice board. Club Competitions Handicaps for grades will be at the discretion of the Match Committee. Conditions of play for major competitions will be displayed in a prominent position for members to view. The following practice areas are provided for members: PRACTICE AREAS 1) 10 th Fairway From this practice area, which is located between the 10 th Tee block and the 18 th green, members can hit to the 10 th fairway. NOTE: Practice in this location is NOT permitted on either Wednesdays or Saturdays before 3.30pm or on Tuesdays before 11.30am. Members must report to Golf Shop Staff (during open hours) before practice. 2) Adjacent to 8 th Fairway From this practice area, which is located to the right of the 8 th green, members can hit to the 8 th fairway. Note: Practice in this location is NOT permitted on either Wednesdays or Saturdays before 3.30pm or on Tuesdays before 11.30am Members must report to Golf Shop Staff (during open hours) before practice. 3) Practice Nets Can be used at any time. 4) Putting Green adjacent to the Clubhouse Can be used anytime 5) Bunker Practice Subject to Golf Shop staff approval the 18 th greenside bunkers can be used for practice. 6) On Course Practice Members can have a practice round on the course provide they use only 2 balls. Note: Chipping and putting practice on ALL greens is strictly forbidden.

COURSE ETIQUETTE The player with the lowest handicap shall be the captain of the group and is responsible for the observance of the rules of golf, local rules and course etiquette. All players are required to carry a bucket of sand to fill all divot holes. Ball marks on greens are to be repaired before leaving to play the next hole. Foot and club marks are to be raked out before leaving a bunker. Players should refrain from walking up the face of bunkers, except when playing the ball. Bunker rakes are to be replaced at the centre base of bunkers. Care should be taken not to damage the edge of the hole or the green surface when removing and replacing the flagstick. Call following players up IMMEDIATELY, when the ball is difficult to find. Competition competitors have the right of way on the course at all times. In taking practice swings players should avoid causing damage to the course (by removing divots) particularly on the tees. In the course of their duty, Ground Staff have, the right of way at all times. Metal Spikes are barred on the course. MURRAY BRIDGE GOLF CLUB SLOW PLAY SLOW PLAY should not occur at our club. Club members can assist in the pace of play by ensuring that the following 10 points are adhered to. 1. The captain of the group (lowest handicapper) is responsible for the etiquette and pace of play but should be assisted by other group members. 2. Know the order of play. Golfers should be aware of the order of play on the tee, for subsequent shots and on the putting green. The furthest away from the pin, plays first. This is where most time is wasted. 3. Buggies should be parked at the exit from the green being played, in a direction towards the next tee. 4. On the green, the player whose ball is closest to the pin should tend the flag and indicate the order of play if there is doubt. 5. You should leave the green briskly and not mark cards on the side of the green. 6. Marking of your card. Your first priority after leaving the green is to recognize the order of play from the next tee. The marking of your card is the second priority. If the group in front is safely out of range, the Honour should be on the tee ready to play a shot and not marking the card. This is done after the shot. 7. Keep your eye on the ball being played especially the person whose card you are marking. Watch it come to ground and fix a reference if in the rough. 8. Walk briskly to your ball in between shots. 9. When searching for a ball, you must call the group behind through as soon as they are ready to hit and the hole is clear in front, not after five minutes of looking for the ball. 10. If your group is getting behind in the playing of a hole we encourage you to dispense with the order of play by consensus and play Ready Golf (exception - Match-Play) The best way to ensure slow play is kept to a minimum is to ensure you keep up with the group in front.

HOT WEATHER POLICY Should, at 4.00pm on the previous day, the Bureau of Meteorology predict that Murray Bridge s forecast temperature will be 38 degrees or over the following conditions will apply for any Club competition. All Club Competitions: The competition will be played as an 18 hole event and will commence between 7.00am 9.00am off the 1 st Tee block or from 7.20am 9.00am off the 10 th Tee block at the discretion of the starter. Note: All players are advised to take sensible precautions when playing in hot weather and to please note the following tips: Ensure you keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water; Wear appropriate clothing to cover yourself from UV rays (i.e. wide brimmed hat, long sleeve top, etc.) Always use an SPF 30+ sun screen; Immediately inform your playing partners if you are experiencing any health problems. The Murray Bridge Golf Club is committed to the Duty of Care of its members under the guidelines of Golf SA and Sport SA in general. STORM / LIGHTNING POLICY Cessation of Play In the event that the Club representatives deem that it is too dangerous to continue play they shall take the following action: Sound one (1) prolonged note of the siren To advise players that play must immediately stop. Players must mark their ball if they are part way through a hole and then cease play immediately. Repeatedly sound three (3) notes of the siren To advise players that play has been suspended. Players may elect to finish the hole they are playing but must then cease play on completion of the hole. Resumption of Play When it is deemed that it is safe to continue play on the Course the following action shall be taken: Repeatedly sound two (2) notes of the siren To advise players that play may resume. INTERPRETATIONS The Management Committee shall be the sole authority for the interpretation of the Club s Constitution and Club policies. The decision of the Management Committee upon any question of interpretation or upon any matter which is not provided for in the Constitution, conditions of play or Club policies, shall be final and binding upon the members. The key benefits of playing golf include improvements in life expectancy (it says golfers can live up to five years longer than nongolfers on average) as well as physical and mental health benefits.
