Ballare Teatro Performing Arts Center Dress Rehearsal And Recital Information Packet 2017

Introduction There will be only 9 weeks of class when we return from Spring Break (7 weeks for Saturday and 8 for Monday classes no class Memorial Day weekend*). Therefore, we would like to ask that there be NO ABSENCES from class after Spring Break. We are trying to firm up choreography and get our dancers confident and ready for the stage. When students are gone it affects the whole class. If a dancer has a graded school event or is feverish or vomiting, please call the studio (612-721-8619) or e-mail us at ann@ballareteatro.com and let us know. Otherwise, we will see all dancers in class! Ballare Teatro Dress Rehearsal Information Thursday, June 8 and Friday June 9, 2017 Please be in costume and appropriate hairdo (see class type below) at Minnehaha Academy North Campus 20 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE SCHEDULED REHEARSAL TIME. Minnehaha Academy is located at 3100 West River Parkway in Minneapolis. Parking is available in the lot on the East side of the building, nearest the River Road. Please refrain from bringing soda, gum, candy or food into the auditorium at any time. Please remain with the class from when you arrive until after you have rehearsed. Each class will rehearse their piece 1-2 times. After your class has rehearsed, you may leave, or watch other classes perform during the rehearsal. A parent needs to stay with each child during the dress rehearsal. Teachers are not there to supervise the students when they are not on stage. Thank you for your cooperation. Please have your dancer s name written on the inside of their shoes. We get A LOT of lost shoes during this event. If we have the name on them they are not lost!! Video taping and non-flash photography is allowed at the dress rehearsal ONLY. Videotaping of the performances on Saturday will NOT be permitted. Professional videos of the show will be sold and you may order them prior to the show and during the show. Flash photography is prohibited at all times, as this is very dangerous for the dancers.

Costume You/your child should come dressed in costume. Please wear a large T-shirt over the costume on the way to and from the theatre to protect the costume from damage. If you/your child are in more than one dance, wear the costume of the dance to be rehearsed first and change into the second costume after the first is rehearsed at the school. For girls, an older pair of tights must be worn for the dress rehearsal to save the worry of last minute runs or tears. New tights should be worn the day of the show ONLY. DO NOT WEAR UNDERWEAR WITH THE COSTUMES (Boys excluded) as they are detectable through the costumes. Please ensure that you/your child have the appropriate dance shoes and that they fit securely. Please consult your instructor for special costume instructions. Flower or ribbons that are part of the costume must be worn on the right side of the bun, unless otherwise specified by the instructor. No jewelry may be worn. We will try to accommodate all requests, but please know that sometimes it is simply impossible to get every family with multiple children a convenient schedule. You must purchase tickets for both shows if you have children in both shows. You can volunteer backstage, handing out programs and taking tickets to receive a free ticket to one of the shows. Let Ann know if you would like to volunteer. There will be a meeting for volunteers on Saturday, June 4 at 12:30 PM at Ballare. For students who are in all shows, we will be having a potluck between the 3:00 and 6:30 pm shows. We would like to ask that students bring something to share, if they are able. BALLARE will also provide munchies for the students. You will receive an e-mail to sign up for the potluck. Please sign up to bring something, and think healthy! How Do I Do My Make-Up For The Recital??? Note to the parents: Due to the bright lights, people need to wear more make-up than usual on stage to look their best. That being said, do your best on the little ones. We understand that large amounts of make-up on little children make many of you uncomfortable. These are make-up guidelines from our many years of doing recitals and professional performances. Please use your best judgment. FACE Please use lots of foundation, more than you would normally use. (Remember, you would never go out looking like this this is FOR THE STAGE) Then apply heavy blush to cheeks and blend it in. Powder comes next all over your face to set your make-up. You might want to put some foundation on your neck so it doesn t look so much like a mask. EYES Take dark blue, black or brown eyeliner and start at the corner or the eye (nearest the nose) and begin lining the bottom of the eye. When you get to the edge of the colored part of the eye (the iris) take the line straight out (see below). You don t need to go very far out. Put a dot of white pencil in the corner of the eye nearest the nose and between the two lines. This makes eyes look bigger to the audience. Then put eye shadow on in shades of brown or gray, darker on the lid and lighter as you get close to the brow. Please use eyebrow pencil and mascara. LIPS Please us a darker red or pink lipstick. Line your lips. Please!! BOYS Boys need to simply wear some foundation, powder, a little blush and some Vaseline on their lips.
