Fairmont Junior High School Cheer 2014-2015 Code of Conduct RESPECT RESPONSIBILITY REPRESENT RESPECT. at all times: A Vikings Cheerleader is expected to show respect towards her fellow teammates at all times. A Vikings Cheerleader is expected to show respect to all Coaches, Parents, Teachers, and Administrators. A Vikings Cheerleader is expected to respect their fellow peers at all times. RESPONSIBILITY. A Vikings Cheerleader is responsible for herself and her actions. A Vikings Cheerleader is responsible for being a team player. A Vikings Cheerleader is responsible for being on time and prepared to do her best. A Vikings Cheerleader is responsible for taking care of all of her schoolwork. REPRESENT. A Vikings Cheerleader MUST remember that she is not only a representative of her cheer squad, but of Fairmont Junior High School as well. She has chosen to be role model, both in and outside of school. 1. Cheerleaders must maintain a minimum 70 in all subjects for each 9 week grading period and must be passing at the semester. Failure to maintain a passing grade will result in suspension for the following nine-week period per UIL regulations. 2. Cheerleaders must maintain a Satisfactory conduct report throughout the school year. Any cheerleader receiving a(n) N/U within the 9 weeks grading period may be suspended for the following grading period. Any major infractions resulting in disciplinary action may result in suspension or removal of the team. Any assignment of DAEP or suspension from school will result in the immediate removal from the team. 3. As per the DPISD Athletic Code of Conduct, any in-school or off-campus activity that brings disgrace or discredit to the squad, school, or the district may result in removal from the team. This includes anything posted on social media sites that are deemed inappropriate by the coach and/or the administration. Removal may be at the discretion of the cheer coach(es) or the school administration, and without prior warning. 4. Cheerleaders will not wear their uniform outside of the cheerleading activity when the squad is not present, unless approved by a coach. 5. Cheerleaders are required to participate in in all activities to promote school pride and spirit. 6. Cheerleaders are required to aid and assist the coaches at all events with any task needed, unless otherwise discussed with a parent or guardian. 7. Cheerleaders are required to attend all scheduled practices. Failure to attend without a written & signed parent excuse will result in demerits. 8. If a cheerleader is absent more than 3 class periods on a game day/event, they will not be able to participate/cheer at that game or event. Both my parent/guardian and I have read and understand the above rules and regulations and agree to fulfill all the requirements listed and more if I am selected to be an FJH Vikings Cheerleader for the 2015-2016 school year. Fairmont Junior High Cheerleader Anticipated Expenses (Requirements & Obligations) If you are chosen to be member of the FJH Cheerleading squad there are several requirements and fees that you need to be aware of. Please be sure to read over the following information carefully & have your parent/guardians approval BEFORE trying out for the squad. The total spent for the entire year as an FJH Cheerleader varies, but is estimated to be between $1,000 and $1,500. THIS IS ONLY AN ESTIMATE!!!! Summer Camp: June 9 th 12 th, 2015 (This will be held at Texas A&M in College Station). If you cannot attend this camp, you CANNOT be a member of the squad. Camp is a mandatory event for all incoming squad members. Cheerleaders will learn the majority of their performance material for the school year during these days. Estimated cost for camp is approximately $350.00. Summer camp fees are to be paid by each cheerleader at the first squad/parent meeting. This will take place the week of March 23 rd 27 th. Uniforms and Practice Wear: Each cheerleader will purchase 3 complete outfits to be worn at camp and during practice. This includes, but is not limited to shorts, shirts, bows, etc. In addition each cheerleader will purchase his or her individual uniform (top and skirt, hot pants, show bow, and shoes). Additional Items Purchased: Each squad member may purchase extra uniform or practice items (shoes, bows, tops, etc.) at their own expense. Payments: Uniform and practice wear payments may be made in up to two installments. The amounts will vary according to the individual totals. No part of the uniform will be given out until full payment has been received. Care of Items: The care of the uniform and practice outfits will be the responsibility of the cheerleader. Any items that are lost or ruined will be replaced at the expense of the cheerleader. Megaphones and Pompoms: These items are the property of Fairmont Junior High School Cheer. If either is damaged or lost the cheerleader will be required to reimburse the cost. Other Expenses: Throughout the year the girls may participate in various events that may require extra funds, such as: fundraising activities, athletic physicals, camp extras, squad gifts, etc. All of these fees are subject to change! When the team has been selected, we will issue a packet that will give exact costs and exact due dates for all fees I have read the above and agree to the financial obligations as listed. Fairmont Junior High Statement of Understanding & Agreement for Student to Tryout My child, has my permission to tryout for a position as a cheerleader on the Fairmont Junior High Cheerleading Squad. I understand that he/she must abide by the rules and regulations set forth by both the coaches and the administration of FJH & must be present for all meetings and practices. I have read the rules and regulations and understand that any violation of these rules may lead to disqualification from tryouts. I understand that all forms attached must be completed and turned in on time, or my child will not be allowed to tryout. I understand that my child must have passed all cheerleading tryout qualifications and requirements listed on page 3 of this packet in order to continue on with the first round of the tryout process. o I understand that in line with all DPISD Junior High Cheer Tryouts, the cheer coach will select the judges for the Fairmont Junior High tryouts. o I understand that each judge will evaluate the performance of the candidate in a group dance and cheer, two jumps, overall ability, and spirit/rapport. o I understand that the tryout process will be broken down into two parts: Student Achievement Evaluation and the Performance Evaluation o I understand that the 10 candidates with the top combined scores will be named to the squad. o I understand that tryouts and mock tryouts are closed to all spectators, including parents. o I understand that score sheets will be made available for parent review beginning Monday (3/23/15). Parents MUST schedule a meeting with the cheer coaches to discuss these scores. Parents may not pick up score sheets without a meeting with the coaches. Meetings to discuss scores will be held Tuesday March 24 th Tuesday March 31 st. NO SCORES Will BE AVAILABLE AFTER MARCH 31 ST.
