FORT DORCHESTER HIGH SCHOOL CHEER PROGRAM Tryout Dates: April 16 19 th 4:30 7pm Tryout Attire: Theme Tryout! Show your spirit --- T-shirts, shorts, soft sole tennis shoe, ponytail no tank tops, spaghetti straps, camisoles, Sports bra only or compressions shorts only. Please wear compression shorts under regular shorts. No jewelry, no nail polish to include gel, no acrylic nails. Physicals: A physical is required for tryouts. All physicals must be dated on/after April 1, 2018. They must be done electronically this year. www.arbiterathlete.com see information inside packet ***AFTER APRIL 1 St. (using same username and password) Report Card: - 3rd Qtr report card needs to be attached to cheer application Discipline: All discipline records will be pulled, a cheerleading candidate with more than one discipline action will not be eligible for try outs (only exception will be tardies those will be examined on a case to case basis). Mandatory parent meeting for those who make the team will be on Monday, May 7, 2018. Registration will take place online. Anyone who does not register online will need to come early to complete the registration. Highly recommend this is done online. Meeting will take place promptly at 6:30pm at FDHS. Fort Dorchester High School Cheerleading Rules and Regulations I. Practice A. All practices (including Saturdays and tumbling) are mandatory. Penalty will result in extra conditioning, losing competition spot, suspension or grounds for dismissal. B. A doctor s note is required for all illnesses that results in more than one missed practice. Parent documentation is required for practices missed due to family emergencies. C. If a cheerleader misses three (3) practices/tumbling for reasons that were not approved by the coach, they will be suspended from cheering the next event, but will attend and be with coaches. Additional missed practices, the cheerleader can be dismissed from the squad. D. If cheerleader is not in school on practice day, game day or an event, they cannot participate in the event. E. If a cheerleader is late to practice for an unexcused reasons, they will not be able to practice until have completed the designated consequence. F. Coach must be notified for missed practice by the cheerleader and/or parent. G. All nails need to be cut short and cannot be seen when looking at the hand, no acrylic nails H. Practice clothes, to include all outerwear gear, can only be worn by the cheerleader. No family or friend should be wearing designated cheer clothing. I. Practices are closed to everyone but coaching staff. J. Cheer shoes must be worn at all practices no shoes = no practice. K. No jewelry can be worn at practice. L. Tattoos may not be visible in any FD attire practice or game/comp day. II. Games/Competition A. All games/competitions are mandatory, including playoff games. B. Any missed game/competition for unexcused reasons could result in suspension or dismissal from team. C. If a cheerleader is late to a game, they will sit out an appropriate time designated by the coach. D. Cheerleaders must ride to all away games/competitions with coach. E. Cheerleaders may only ride home with THEIR parents from away games/competitions. Prior notice must be given to coach in form of a written communication before boarding the bus. F. No cheerleader will leave a game/competition until dismissed by coach. G. Home games - all cheerleaders who drive to games must leave immediately following dismissal from game. You many not hang around for any reason. H. Cheerleaders are to stay with their squad at competitions until all awards for all teams have been completed. Cheerleaders must sit together as a team and cannot sit in stands with family and friends. I. Cheerleaders must be picked up on time for practice and games. J. All cheerleaders are responsible for clean up after the games. Cheerleaders will be designated days that they are responsible for flag/pom and sign duty. It is their responsibility to carry the items to and from the fields. K. Cheerleaders are expected to bring all appropriate items to the games, including warm ups, hoodies, gloves, etc. Not bringing those items could result in sitting out of game. L. JV and Varsity will cheer basketball games making up 4 teams ***this is subject to change

III. Uniforms A. Uniforms must be kept neat and clean. All warmups will be laundered professionally before returning. Any new uniform will be laundered professionally before returning. All must be turned in with the tags from a dry cleaner. Uniforms should be washed according to the tag/label. Please hang to dry. B. The cheerleader is the only person that is to wear the uniform and only wear to designated events. C. Cheerleaders and parents will be held responsible for any lost or damaged uniforms. An obligation will be put on your student s account range from $150 - $360 uniform/warmup D. Shoes are to be kept clean at all times. Only wear cheer shoes with cheer uniform. E. Hair is ALWAYS up in a ponytail, hair away from face. F. No nail polish including gel, no jewelry, no gum, no acrylic nails, no colorful hair, no body graffiti will be shown with uniform at any time. IV. Conduct A. Cheerleaders will show their teammates, coaches, school staff and opponents respect at all times. B. Cheerleaders are representatives of FD. Any actions that result in a bad reflection of the program or Fort Dorchester High School will result in suspension or dismissal this is to include social media. The degree of consequence is at the discretion of the head coach. C. Any blatant disrespect to any of the above will be grounds for suspension or dismissal. D. Refrain from using foul language could result in suspension or dismissal. E. Cheerleader must maintain a 70 or better in all classes. Grades will be checked at progress and report card time. Failure to comply at any time will result in suspension or dismissal. F. Smoking, drinking, any illegal drug use or pregnancy will result in automatic dismissal from squad. G. Out of school suspension from school for any reason will result: 1st offence suspended from game/practice for one week, 2 nd offence -dismissal from squad. Depending on the offense this is at the discretion of the head coach. H. In School Suspension for any reason will result in: ISS 1 st offense suspension from next cheer event/game (not practice) @ coach s discretion, 2 nd offense suspension from practice/game for one week, 3 rd offense dismissal from team I. PDA public display of affection in or out of uniform is not tolerated and could result in dismissal from squad. V. Commitment A. Every senior is responsible for running tryouts for the next year. B. During season, weekend practices could be called. These are mandatory. C. All cheerleaders are required to sell $300 worth of ads for the program. Parent is responsible for any ads not covered prior to the start of football season. D. JV cheerleaders will sell programs at Varsity home games. B team will sell at JV home games. E. All cheerleaders will be responsible for participating in fundraisers, community service, tumbling and any event the program partakes in. F. Cheerleaders/Parents are responsible to return all uniforms, warmups and have their balances cleared. G. First deposit is due May 3, 2018. There will be a payment schedule. H. There will be no refund for a cheerleader who quits once a deposit is accepted. I. Any conflict with any cheerleader or coach should be discussed with your coach first. If no resolution, then head of the program can be consulted. All consequences for any of the above offenses will follow the same plan: extra conditioning, suspension, dismissal. J. One banquet will be held after basketball season ends for all teams. Cheerleaders must be in good standing (no balance and uniforms/warm up turned in) in order to receive Varsity letter and/or certificate. Student signature: Date: Parent signature: Date:

Discipline Policy FD Cheer 18-19 Discipline violations of more than 1 depending on severity will result in probation for the remainder of current year. Parent/coach/cheerleader meetings will take place for discussion on all matters that reach this point. Possible dismissal from the team will occur if discipline is not improved. All decisions are at the discretion of the coaching staff. Probation consequence: (at coach s discretion) 1 Extra physical conditioning 2 Cheerleader will be suspended from next cheer event/game 3 Dismissal from team OSS dismissal from team ISS 1 st offense suspension from next cheer event/game (not practice), but must attend w/ coaches 2 nd offense suspension from active participation in practice/game for one week but must attend w/ coaches 3 rd offense dismissal from team I understand the Discipline policy for FD Cheer 18-19 Cheerleader Date Parent Date
