After many weeks of reviewing resumes, discussions and interviews, the Pro Selection process for NVTA has been completed. NVTA is proud to announce that effective September 1, 2016. Peter Burwash International (PBI) will be the new Pro at NVTA providing Pro services, clinics, private lessons, group lessons, etc. Jacob Hansen, Katie Dellich and Isriz Balase are developing the programs that will be offered to our members and are in need of your assistance. Please share your thoughts and interest in what types of clinics you'd like (and the best time, morning, afternoon or evening), themes of clinics, and events. Please email your thoughts and feedback directly to isriz.balase@pbitennis.com and cc Jacob at jacob.hansen@pbitennis.com by August 27th. We are excited to have PBI as our partner and we are looking forward to working with them as they build a diverse tennis program and meet the needs of the tennis community. Welcome to NVTA Jacob, Katie and Isriz! See you "down the line"... Thank You! Ericka Iten, Board President New Members: Wel come New Members! Your NVTA Membership Dues is tax-deductible. NVTA is a 501(3)c non-profit-- Don't forget to include this donation on your taxes in April. ****If you are having difficulty seeing all the great photos in our newsletter, please be sure to click on"display Images" on your computer.**** All Players Must be NVTA Members Please make sure all your team members are current NVTA members and have paid their annual dues. Reserving Courts for Matches Captains: PLEASE email Victoria, our court scheduler, of cancelled matches so she can take the match off the calendar. It is inconvenient for other captains and NVTA members who check the calendar to see if matches are scheduled. Twice this week, two captains asked for courts for make up matches but neither had notified Victoria that they didn't need the courts for the originally scheduled match. Please be considerate of your fellow captains and all NVTA members. Farewel l Sharon Howel l The Board of Directors accepted Sharon Howell's resignation as Board Member and Secretary on August 10th. Sharon and her family are relocating to Idaho where much of her family resides. Although we wish Sharon the best in her move and in her new community, she will greatly be missed. Jane Matijasic has been elected to the Board to fill Sharon's position, and she also was elected to the position of Secretary. She was unanimously voted in and graciously accepted. Welcome Jane to the NVTA Board of Directors! Should you see Sharon in her short time left here, please thank her. Also, give Jane a big welcome as you will be seeing a bit more of her. (Editor's note: Thank you, Sharon, for all your help during the annual 4th of July tennis classic. We couldn't have done it without your great organization skills! -lf) USTA News -- Attention 3.0 Women Captain Marissa Roche is looking for 3.0 Women players to join her 6.5 combo team. Please contact Marissa if you are interested. USTA News -- 55+ 6.0 Team Captain Victoria O'Donnell reports: The 55 and over Women's 6.0 team will be in the playoffs. We have two teams and, at this point, only one is in the running for the playoff. USTA News -- Adul t 70 & Over l eague Captain Bob Walsh reports:

Registration for teams in the Adult 70 and over league has closed. There are 28 men's teams and 16 women's teams. USTA held three 70's Kickoff events prior to the closing. One of the events was held at Laguna Creek Tennis club in Elk Grove. The pictures are from that venue. Two of the players were in their 90's. See picture below. Tee-shirt: "EAT. SLEEP. TENNIS. REPEAT." Great advice from a Nonagenarian! Support The Vintage Ladies Tennis Team Our ladies tennis team at Vintage High School needs our support. If you can come cheer on their team any of the next few home matches, Coach Cole would love to see us there!

Update your Member Profil e Wed, Aug 31, 3:45pm Vintage v. Vacaville Thurs, Sept 8, 3:45pm Vintage v. Napa Wed, Sept 14, 3:45pm Vintage v. Wood Mon, Sept 19, 3:45pm Vintage v. Vacaville Our high schoolers could use our support - especially from all of us who love tennis. Come on out and bring your family and/or your friends to cheer them on. Important Info! On Friday, September 30---gates to NVTA parking lot will be closed all day until approximately 6pm. THANK YOU! It' s your Annual Membership Dues that paid for our court resurfacing.

Take Full Advantage of your NVTA Membership! Perhaps you want to play with new players or need to find some players for your Sunday foursome? This is why we encourage you to log on to the NVTA website and update your profile! You can list your phone number, email and level of play and we encourage everyone to do so! Here's how: 1. Go the NVTA website (Napatennis.org) 2. Go to Member Login in the bottom left corner of the page and log in (if you have not created one, you will need to) 3. Once logged in, in the bottom left corner is User Menu. You may update your Profile here and view the membership list. So the next time you are trying to put a match together, invite a new member or someone you haven't played with by going to the membership list. If each of us takes the time to update our levels and contact information, it will be a great tool for our Members. Thank you! Recycl e Your Tennis Bal l s The recycling bins are located next to courts 4 & 5, at the courtyard entrance. So far we have sent about 1600 balls to Rebounce for recycling. The only unfortunate part is that some of our members insist on including trash and other types of recyclable materials in the ball containers. It makes it much easier to recycle these balls if we don't have to sort through the trash. Wal k to End Al zeimer' s in Napa Val l ey Please click on the link for information on the upcoming fundraiser for Alzheimer's. Saturday, September 10, at 8:30am in Yountville,or donate if you don't wish to walk. For more information, click here. SNMWTL News The 2015-16 Sonoma/Napa/Marin Women's Tennis League (SNMWTL) season has drawn to a close. NVTA fielded three teams--one at the Division 6 level and two at the Division 4 level. In Division 6, the team captained by Joan Sibley came in at a respectable fourth behind three teams who had the exact same number of points. Sharon Howell's Division 4 team placed second, and Rosemary Quinn's team came in at ninth. All in all, the NVTA

teams did very well and will be back next year. The SNMWTL is a day league with practices and matches on weekday mornings. If you are interested in playing on one of the teams, please contact Nancy Gardner at 707-944- 1345 or ngondrycreek@gmail.com. Sportabout is Our l ocal Tennis Shop!
