1. Skatey balance surfer product description The Skatey balance surfer is a clever device. It is a personal transporter that reacts to how your weight is distributed. It is important to relax when standing on the board, then it will be easy to hold your balance. Driving the Skatey is easy; the board will react directly if you distribute your weight unevenly ; lean forward to move forwards, lean to the left to ride to the left, etc. All Skatey components are manufactured and assembled by hand with great care. Take careful note of the instructions and safety measures in this document and your Skatey Balance surfer will provide you with many hours of fun. 4

2. Content packing A Skatey Balance surfer comes complete. The following parts are included: Skatey balance surfer with battery Charger Quick start manual with unique serial number 3. Start with your Skatey 3.1 Safety measures When you ride your Skatey balance surfer you need to use protective equipment. You should at least wear a helmet, wrist, elbow and knee pads. If you fall, this protective equipment will absorb a great deal of the impact thus preventing serious physical injury. 3.2 Activate the Skatey balance surfer To activate the Skatey balance surfer press the chrome-colored button on the side of the board next to the charger socket. The blue LED strip (around the board), the headlight (front bottom of the board) and the battery indicator (top of the board) light up on the Skatey balance surfer. 3.3 Stepping on and off Make sure that you have enough space to practice. Carefully put your dominant foot flat on the backside of the board. Place your other foot on the front side of the board. Carefully divide your weight on both your feet so the Balance Surfer tilts to a horizontal position. 5

Note: if you do this too fast you tilt too far, because the motor does not have enough time to start. To step off first come to a full stop. Then lean your body forward, when the side of the board with your toes touches the ground you can step off the board. If you step with the board titled to the front or back the board will start riding and you may fall. 3.4 Relax It usually takes some time before you can really stand properly and relaxed on your board. Get some support to start with. You remain still (in balance) by distributing your weight equally over your body. 3.5 Riding forwards and backwards Make sure that you have enough riding space!! Step on your board stand up straight and relaxed. Now, carefully, bring your weight forward, you will drive forwards. Carefully bring your weight backward and you will stop. If you keep your weight backward you will drive backwards. After a few attempts you will notice that you become more secure and you get the hang of driving and steering the Balance surfer. Warning: adapt your driving speed to your skills!! 3.6 Turning with the balance surfer Stand up straight and relaxed. Lean to the right to make a right turn. Lean to the left to make a left turn. First practice a left turn followed by a right turn. Now try to follow a right turn with a left turn, slalom in other words. 6

INSTRUCTIONS 7

3.7 Deactivating balance surfer The Skatey balance surfer will switch off automatically if it has not been used for 5 minutes. The board can be switched off manually by pushing the power switch on the back left side of the Skatey right next to the charging connector. The battery indicator light will dim. 3.8 Charging the balance surfer Only use the adapter supplied. Insert the adapter plug into the wall socket (the adapter light will turn green). Plug the connector on the other side of the adapter into the socket on the board located next to the chrome colored on/off switch. The battery indicator will start flickering and the adapter light is now red; charging has started. Tip: do not charge the Skatey for longer than is necessary. The quality of the battery will deteriorate and the battery will drain faster if you do so. Never charge the battery for longer than four consecutive hours. Longer charge may irreparably damage the battery. 3.9 Indicator lights The indicator lights are located on top of the board. The four blue lights indicate the status of the battery. When all the lights are lit up the battery is fully charged. When the battery is very low only one light on the battery indicator will light up. You will also hear an alarm sound. Stop riding immediately and charge the battery again. Your board can stop suddenly and you may fall. 3.10 Setting the driving angle A new balance surfer is set with a horizontal driving angle; this means that if you want to drive you bring your weight 8

forward. Once the board in a horizontal position the engine will start and the board will move forward. It is possible to adjust the driving angle to a position you like best. For example hanging a little bit back. Now the engine will start before the board is in a horizontal position and the board will move forward. To change the driving angle you follow these steps: Place the board on a flat surface. Move the deck in the angle you like best for driving. Press the front pedal with your hand to activate the sensor. Press the on/off button until you hear a long beep. Switch the board off. When you switch on the board again the driving angle is set to your programmed position. 4. Warnings and advice This section contains some warnings and advice. It is important that you read and understand these warnings and advice in order to ensure that your experiences with the Skatey balance surfer are always positive and enjoyable. Failing to observe these measures may result in injuries and serious, possibly fatal wounds. BBiZZ Adventure in Sports B.V. is under no circumstances responsible for any damage caused by any person to himself or others. The warnings and advice Always check if the Skatey is in perfect working order every time you use it. Make sure that all screws are tightened and that all axle units and other mechanical- and electronic components are functioning properly. Riding a Skatey is not allowed on public roads. 9

Pregnant women and disabled persons may not use the Skatey balance surfer. The Skatey should only be used if you are physically fit. A Skatey must be operated by only one rider at a time. Our balance surfer is designed for use by responsible riders ages 14 and up. Never use the Skatey if you are under the influence of alcohol or medication that infects your driving skills. Always wear suitable clothing and protective gear if you are riding the Skatey. This includes elbow, wrist and knee pads and proper footwear. This protection will not provide 100% protection against injuries. If you re riding a Skatey balance surfer for the first time always make sure that there s someone nearby that can help if necessary. Before using the Skatey balance surfer, make sure that you have enough riding space. When you are riding your Skatey, don t endanger persons, animals or objects. Be considerate towards other people and animals and make sure that nobody else is exposed to danger or injury, or is obstructed or inconvenienced. A Skatey is electric powered and is not waterproof. Don t ride in rain, on wet streets and trough puddles of water. Avoid slippery ground such as ice, snow and wet ground. The Skatey may slip. Avoid roads with branches, loose stones and other objects. Be cautious when riding on an irregular surface. User s weight should be within skateboard s max load capacity. The Skatey should not be used for tricks, jumps, ramps, grinds, rough handling and prolonged steep hills. Never hitch a ride from a car, bicycle, etc. On your board you are about 10 cm taller than you usually are. Keep this in mind when you drive. 10

5. Maintenance To keep your board in top condition make sure you respect the following rules. 5.1 Cleaning To clean the Skatey balance surfer only use a damp cloth and do not use corrosive cleaning solutions. Always prevent water, moisture or dirt from entering the electronic components, the On button, the charging port, under the rubber mats. This can lead to irreparable damage. Check before and after using the Skatey for dirt between the moving parts, if present remove immediately. 5.2 Battery When the Skatey is not being used for a long time it s very important that the battery is charged at least ones a month. Otherwise the battery loses its capacity. 5.3 Check your board before driving The Skatey has been manufactured in such a way that it requires virtually no maintenance. However, you must still make sure that all screws on the wheels and axles are well-secured. If screws are loose, they must be tightened. 5.4 Wear and tear Because the wheels are subject to wear and tear, they need to be replaced after some time. You can find these parts under spare parts on www.skatey.com 11

6. Storage Stick to the following rules to keep your board in top condition. Ensure that your board is fully charged. When storing it for longer than three months, charge the battery every month in order to keep the battery in good condition. Store your Skatey indoors in a dry room at a moderate temperature. Ensure that no dust gets into your board by keeping it in the original box or bag. 7. Performance There are some factors that could reduce the range of 15-20 km. These are the following factors. Weight The rider s weight will affect the distance. If you are a light rider, your board use less energy to transport you thus increasing the range and the battery will drain slower. Surface Riding on a flat smooth surface will ensure that you can cover longer distances. Traveling uphill or on a rough or uneven surface means that your Skatey needs to work harder in order to transport you. The battery will drain faster. Speed and riding style You will get further when you drive calmly and evenly. Frequent braking and accelerating takes much strength from you battery and shortens the distance you can drive. 12

Temperature The Skatey performs best between 15 and 35 degrees Celsius. Charging the battery Make sure that you do not leave the Skatey on charge for too long; never longer than 6 hours. This may reduce the battery s capacity. The consequence of this will among other things be that you are no longer able to cover long distances and that you will only be able to enjoy your Skatey over shorter distances. 8. Skatey Balance surfer specifications Net weight 11,1 kilogram Electric motor 1 x 500 Watt Max load 100 kilogram Maximum speed 18 kilometer per hour Maximum distance 15 kilometer Charge time 1-1,5 hour Battery 1 x 36V 4,4Ah Lithium Ion Power supply AC 100-230V Dimensions in cm 84 x 24 x 19 Tyres 6,5 inch massive tyres 13

9. Battery details 9.1 Specifications The high quality Skatey balance surfer battery s are have the following specifications. Type of battery Voltage Capacity Samsung Lithium Ion 36V 4.4Ah Operational temperature -15 to 50 C Charging temperature 0 to 40 C 9.2 Too low battery capacity If only one light on the battery indicator lights up, this means that the battery is nearly empty. In this case, you should stop riding and place the Skatey on charge. You run the risk of the board stopping suddenly and you may end up falling if you continue to ride. You may also damage the battery meaning that the battery no longer works optimally. 9.3 Special situations Call Customer Services if you notice: A strange smell coming from the battery; That the battery is very hot while you are on the Skatey; That something appears to be leaking from the battery and/or your Skatey. Do not attempt to solve the problem yourself as you may end up damaging the battery and your Skatey. 14

10. Warranty Skatey will give a one-year warranty on manufacturing errors. Your invoice is your warranty. The invoice date is also the date on which the warranty commences. The warranty does not cover parts subject to wear such as the battery or the wheels. The warranty will expire if: Unexpected damage occurs due to the user himself, in the event of heavy vibrations (no flat surface), wear and tear, a collision with a person or an object or water damage. You have failed to adhere to the advice in these instructions; think for example of the method of storage, weight limits and how you should maintain and use your Skatey. You have attempted to repair your Skatey yourself. The defect has occurred due to typical wear and tear, excessive use, water damage and damage resulting from extreme weather conditions. Other damage has occurred that is not related to the product design, the technology, manufacturing errors or quality control. Please contact Skatey s Customer Services to find out whether your defect is covered by the warranty. 11.
