WOMEN S FITNESS TESTING POLICY June 2016
All officials standing for an international rating or renewing an international rating are required to pass two fitness tests. The tests are to be administered by a member countries recognised and approved testing facility or under the administration of the FIL Officiating Chair prior to or at the event where the official is receiving their assessment. All on field officials must complete either the Beep Test (twenty metre multistage fitness test) or FIFA Fitness Test 1, followed by the Cooper Test (twelve minute run). A maximum 30 minutes is to be provided between the Beep or FIFA, and the Cooper Test. The FIL reserve the right to alter these tests in the future for agility, flexibility, core strength, and speed. Member countries will receive notice of any new fitness test requirement one year prior to the initiation of such test. Using the tables shown at the end of the policy, officials need to pass (based on gender and age) either a) the Cooper Test at the Good or Very Good level and the Beep Test or FIFA Fitness Test 1 at the Good level or b) the Cooper Test at the Fair level and the Beep Test or FIFA Fitness Test 1 at the Very Good level. Passing standard Cooper Test Beep or FIFA Fitness Test 1 Good or Very Good + Good Fair + Very good Any official who does not pass the fitness test after two attempts at the assessment venue would not be eligible to either receive an international rating or renew an international rating at that venue. To officiate tier 1 games, officials must achieve either Very Good or Good on all their tests. Those achieving fair or below, may only officiate tier two and below games. Beep Test Resources: Flat non-slip surface; 30 metre tape measure; Marking cones; The Multi-Stage Fitness Test CD or MP3 player, ipod or similar; CD Player, ipod or similar with audible speakers; recording sheets; assistants at either end of the 20m to ensure rules are met. Protocol: The test requires the athlete to run 20m in time with a beep from the audio track recording. The athlete must place one foot on or beyond the 20m marker at the end of each shuttle. Ø The athlete warms up for 10 minutes Ø A 20 metre section is to be measured using a tape measure, with the ends clearly delineated by cones and where possible a solid line Ø The audio track, which the athlete must be able to hear for themselves is to be played from that start when the participants (maximum eight) are ready to go Ø If the athlete arrives at the end of a shuttle before the beep, the athlete must wait for the next beep and then resume running Ø If the athlete fails to reach the end of the shuttle before the beep they will be allowed two further shuttles to attempt to regain the required pace before being withdrawn. Participants must be warned by the official in charge that they are in danger of being stopped and encouraged to get back on track; Ø Once each participant stops, their level and number of shuttles completed must be clearly recorded in writing Ø The following links offer you an audio and a visual version of the test that may prove useful to those who are unfamiliar with running and/or administering the test. Flat non-slip surface; 50 metre tape measure; Marking cones; Stopwatch; Recording sheets; Assistants at either end of the 40m to ensure rules are met Protocol The test requires the athlete to run 6 x 40m, each within a 90 seconds timeframe, in time with a whistle. The athlete must start behind the starting line and may have a 1-2 step walk/rock/step into the start. Ø The athlete warms up for 10 minutes Ø Timing gates (preferred) and marker cones are placed 40 meters apart to indicate the sprint distance. Ø A start line is also marked 1.5 meters before the timing gates. The subject's front foot is placed behind the starting line, and when ready begins the first sprint, running maximally through the gate 40m away. Ø The sprint time is recorded. A stopwatch is used to record the recovery time. Ø The subject has 1.5 minutes to return the start, before sprinting again (it is assumed that each sprint starts on 1min 30 sec, e.g. 3min, 4.5min, 6 min etc. - not 1 min 30 sec.
