Golf News From the Golf Shop 3 Club Recap 3 Club Scramble Flight Winners On February 17th the annual 3 Club Scramble was played on another dreary, rainy Saturday. We had quite a close race for the Overall Gross Champions with the winner coming down to a three team chip off on 18. The team of Richard Pentecost and Jamie Hennessy prevailed and claimed their back to back Overall Gross Champions in this event. It should be noted that Pentecost and Hennessy were the Overall Net Champions two years ago as well. These guys are obviously better with three club than a full bag! There were two flights for the Net portion, the Hogan and Snead Flights. The team of Dave Oster and Pat Ludeman shot a blistering 59 to claim the Hogan Flight while the brothers Steve and John Callaham shot a team total of 60.7 to claim the Snead Flight. Congratulations to our flight winners. The final results in both flights can be found below. Thank you to everyone who came out to play! Overall Gross Champs Richard Pentecost & Jamie Hennessy 64* Hogan Flight 1st Place David Oster & Pat Ludeman 59 2nd Place Wes Nobles & Robbie Millard 60.2 3rd Place Richard Ryan & Ken Jordan 60.6 4th Place Brian Kelleher & Bubba Gwyn 64.5 5th Place Chad Kunstel & Jack Benson 64.9 Snead Flight 1st Place Steve Callaham & John Callaham 60.7 2nd Place Paul Bauer & Dylan Bauer 61.4 3rd Place Joe Lindenmayer & Dean Waters 61.7 4th Place Matt Falkowski & Justin Stenger 62.3 5th Place David Sheiman & Michael Campbell 63.1 Overall Gross Champs Richard Pentecost & Jamie Hennessy 64* Snead Flight 1st Place Steve Callaham & John Callaham 60.7 hole-in-one Jason Spicer made a hole-in-one on #14 2/23-18 Hogan Flight 1st Place David Oster & Pat Ludeman 59 Terry Hogan made a hole-in-one on 2/14 on #11 David Skidmore made a hole-in-one on #4 2/20-18

Superintendent News March 2018 I know it s a little early to talk about it, but I want to make sure everyone is prepared for the work we are going to do on the greens beginning May 14th. Instead of aerifying this year, we are going to rip apart every green down to the soil. What we are trying to accomplish is a possible smoother and firmer putting surface. I do not think they will be any quicker than before. Over time, you see a lot of our old pin positions grouped together. It will be interesting to see when the green grows back how many of the old cups will disappear. What you will need to expect during the process will be each day we will have two holes closed at a time while we are cultivating each green. Each green will take on average two and half hours to finish. Once we finish the first two, then we will open those greens and close the next two. Weather permitting, I hope we will finish all the greens in 5 days. When we did our research green last July, it took 18 days to be back to normal. Remember July is much warmer than May. As long as May treats us well, I hope for the same results in the same time or a week longer. While you are playing, expect the greens to be very stemmy, slow, bumpy, and sandy. But it will be very playable. If you have any questions, please stop and ask. Chris Purvis Upcoming Events for 2018! Men s Spring Kickoff On Saturday March 10th we will host the annual Men s Spring Kickoff. This is a 4 man team, 2 Better Ball format with no handicap restrictions! The cost to enter is $55 per player with an 8:30 AM shotgun start. This is a very popular event so grab your favorite foursome and sign up soon! The Big Pig Hard to believe but April in Georgia is just around the corner. We will be hosting the annual Big Pig tournament on April 14th, the weekend after The Masters. This is a two person Scramble format with partners handicaps to be within 10 shots. The tournament is flighted by handicap with the Masters Flight available for teams over the age of fifty. This is a very fun tournament and the course will be in great condition in the spring time, save the date!
