Second half, if desired may include more than one baton and novelty baton. No props (2 point penalty). Novice, Beginner, Intermediate Pageants MARYLAND STATE SCHOLARSHIP The N.B.T.A. Maryland Chapter offers a $500 scholarship to a senior in high school with direction to continue your education or are attending an institute of higher learning. Requirements: 1) Contestant must be a permanent resident of the state of Maryland (attending a Maryland college, university or institute of higher learning does not qualify you as a resident). 2) Contestant must enter Scholarship Solo, Scholarship Super X, State Solo and State Super X. 3) Scholarship contestants must forward their official sealed transcript with their commutative GPA, ending the second semester of the 2010 school year to: Ms. Estelle King, 6133 D Springwater Place, Frederick, Maryland 21701. Open to all competing levels (Nov, Beg, Int, Adv) Events and Percentage Credit Modeling 20% Strut 40% Twirl 40% Events and Time Limits Circle "T" Modeling 1:00 minute maximum Super "X" Solo Novice 0:30-2:00 0:30-2:00 Beginner 1:30-2:00 1:30-2:00 Intermediate 1:30-2:00 1:50-2:10 Event Change: Novice contestants will perform Basic Strut in place of Super "X". Determination of Winner: The NBTA Maryland Chapter determines the award by the twirler acquiring the lowest points in the following four categories: (25% in each) Transcript (GPA), Scholarship Solo, Scholarship Super X, Interview. Placement equal points: 1st place = 1 point, etc. The twirler with the lowest amount of points will be awarded the scholarship. Ties will be broken by (in order of), Academic transcript, Solo, Super X, Interview. The scholarship award can be won more than once. Check will be made payable to the college or institute of higher learning. All current N.B.T.A. rules will prevail. N.B.T.A. judges will officiate. Judge s decisions are final. The N.B.T.A. Maryland Chapter, its officials, Contest Director, Mt. St. Mary s University, its officials will not be held responsible for accidents, injury or loss of property. Order of Appearance for all 3-Part Events: Modeling will start with "C"; Strutting Events will be 1/3 down from Modeling, Solo will be 2/3 down from modeling. Teams and Corps will begin with the letter P (line-up to be adjusted due to conflicts). State strutting events will start with the letter P, State twirling events will start with the letter D. Reporting to Lanes. Contestants are responsible for reporting to their lanes on time. Failure to do so may result in a 2.0 penalty. Lane will be held open only if the contestant has notified the judge of a conflict. Once lane is closed, it will not be reopened. Pictures. Flash Photography: Absolutely no flash photography can be taken during the course of the contest. Video taping: Own child, own student, own team/group! Awards Presentation: At the conclusion of the competition an announcement will be made as to where contestants will need to line-up for the awards presentation. Open Events Awards Presentation: Awards for all open events will be posted after the equivalent 3-part or state event has been completed. Score sheets. All 3-part and state event score sheets (unless posted) will be distributed at the conclusion of the awards ceremony. Please review your score sheets. A fifteen (15) minute discrepancy period will be allotted. Any discrepancies must be reported within this time. DIRECTIONS Mt. Turn right onto James Phelan Way and make an immediate right and continue on James Phelan Way around to parking lot. From North of Baltimore: Follow I95 South to Route 695 toward Towson. Continue on Route 695 to the Exit #19 (Route 795 North). Follow Route 795 to the end and you will take Exit # 9B (Route 140 North). Follow Route 140 approximately 18 miles through Westminster, through Taneytown to the exit for Route 15 South. Follow Route 15 approximately 5 miles and you will see Knott Arena. Turn left onto James Phelan Way. Take immediate right an continue on James Phelan Way around to parking lot. From West: Take Route 70 toward Frederick. Follow Route 70 to the exit #53B (Route 15 North). ***Follow Route 15 approximately 20 miles and you will see signs for Mt. St. Mary s. You can see Knott Arena on the right. Turn right onto James Phelan Way and make another immediate right and continue on James Phelan Way around to parking lot. From Washington: Take Route I95 to Route 495 toward Silver Spring. Follow Route 495 to the exit for Route 270 North. Follow Route 270 to Frederick and then take Route 15 North. Follow Route 15 approximately 20 miles and you will see signs for Mt. St. Mary s.
