11 BIRD RESCUE & WATER SYSTEMS Special Access Behind-The-Scenes Area Bird Rescue & Conservation San Diego is home to many endangered bird species and SeaWorld actively participates in a breeding and reintroduction program. A team of aviculturists will introduce several feathered friends and discuss Species Survival Plans. You will get to visit the Oiled Wildlife Care Center, home of our Bird Rescue Program. Our Water Systems The animals in our care reside in more than 13 million gallons of fresh and salt water. Each species receives just what it needs in water quality and temperature through the complex system of treatment plants, fi lters and heating/cooling elements. A team of water quality professionals work around the clock testing water, cleaning pools and monitoring systems to ensure habitats stay clear and comfortable for all the animals. Did you know... pelicans are the bird most commonly rescued by the SeaWorld team?

HOW CAN YOU HELP? WHAT TO DO IF YOU SEE A STRANDED ANIMAL Do not touch, pick up, feed, or pour water on the animal. Watch the animal from at least 50 feet away. It is not unusual for some animals to rest out of the water, on sand or rocks. Take note of details such as the exact location of the animal, physical characteristics, and the condition. If you are sure the animal needs help, notify SeaWorld or another authorized animal rescue organization, a lifeguard, park ranger, or animal control. SeaWorld Rescue Hotline: 1-800-541-SEAL (7325).
