Upcoming Shows & events The Canadian National Wildfowl Carving Championship / Wood Art in the Cities The 2017 Show will be held March 17, 18, 19 at RIM Park in Waterloo March 2017 in Whitby Ontario Brooklyn wood carving show Niagara Carving Show The next show will be in early April, 2017. Quinte wood carving show Belleville sports and wellness center April 8 2017 Upcoming carving course The club is sponsoring a carving course to be held on May 15 to May 19 2017 Location: At Serge Moisan's home near tweed. The instructor is: Glen McMurdo The subject is a Killdeer. We will paint and carve this bird during the week. We have 12 openings available and would like to fill this course. The cost is $265.00 and includes: A casting of the Killdeer, which we will paint. A CD of the course subject A wood blank prepared by Glen McMurdo All instructional materials. 2016 summer BBQ We had another fun BBQ this year. We would like to thank Bob and Carol Derry (Earl s parents) for allowing us to hold it at their place this year. Also we would like to thank Earl Rita and Stu for organizing it and Serge for bringing some lawn games that everyone enjoyed especially the dogs. There was a fun round of golf on their small course and a lot of fun talking to each other Bobcaygeon show Quinte Woodcarvers were well represented at this year s Kawartha Carving Competition in Bobcaygeon, with seven entries and 3 ribbons won. Both Ken Hicks and Dave Hatton received 2 nd place ribbons and Serge Moissan received an honourable mention. Big thanks goes out to Serge Moissan, Ken Naunton (with his wife and son) and myself (Lisa Thompson) for representing our club at the Quinte Woodcarvers table. We must remember to support other clubs as they support ours. This was my first time at this organized competition which I look forward to going to again. It really is nice to go to other shows and completion to make new friends and touch base with old ones. We Would like to Welcome All Our New Member to the Club Craig Alderson, Gail Alexander, Jade Babcock, Bill Downham, Andrew Doxtator, Mark Feller, Maura Hoye, Kiki Rousseau, Raymond Saunders, Carol and Noelle Wiwczaruk. We will Be needing Volunteers for multiple things Bob Trottier Will be asking for volunteers to sell Door prize tickets at the mall. This year carvers will not need to bring any of their carving to the ticket sale. We will be needing volunteers for Friday April 7 to help set up and registration and volunteers for Sat April 8 for multiple things at the show. David Hatton will be coming around in late Feb. early March looking for volunteers if there is a job you want let him know. We will be needing items for our silent auction table we will have donation letters ready in January It Is also our 30 th show if any one has any ideas to help celebrate this milestone please let one of the executive know Page 4
