We will not know fully until Football schedule comes out. Our ultimate hope is to have each squad only cheer 1 game per week. Football ultimately depicts this. Sweethearts will cheer 1 hour, at 1 game per week. Competition Squad Who : 6th-8th are allowed to try out for the competition squad. Barring we are under the required 17 spots for Junior Comp Large Division we will then be open to 5th graders by coach invite ONLY. Fee: Competition fee is TBD. This includes a new bow and shirt. They will also be getting a new body liner and black shoes. The fee will also cover registration fees for competitions, coaching fees, facility fees and tumbling costs. Cheer Practices Sweetheart Squad will practice one time per week. All other squads will practice two times per week. Practice begins August 9 in the outdoor covered area of Laurel Ridge Middle School. Practice will move into the Edy Ridge Gym once school starts. Athletes should wear their SYC t-shirt, black soffee shorts and tennis shoes to each practice. Be sure to bring water. All practices are closed practices until the last 5 minutes. ¾ parents must make coach contact for pick up. K-2 parents must check in and out with coaches or child WILL NOT be released.
Tumbling Practices SYC proudly includes one hour of instructional tumbling per week, in addition to the cheer practices. More information will be forthcoming. Competition Squad is required to hold all tumbling practices (this will also be where comp practice is 2x a week date TBD) at ODT in Beaverton. NO exceptions. All other squads TBD we strongly urge parents to coordinate carpooling. Uniform Fee: Our full Uniform Fee is $400.00, which includes the SYC items listed above. For returning cheerleaders, a cost sheet will be provided for new or replacement pieces. Uniform Drop off Deadline May 1 If you want to sell your body liner, skirt or pant which no longer fit, you must turn them in by May 1. Each piece must be in a separate Ziplock bag with cheerleader s name, size of item, skirt/body liner/pant, and your mobile number. Please call or text Jill (503-887-9212) for address. Uniform Re-Sell May 3, 4-7, Rebekah Lodge This is a great chance to buy pieces of the uniform at half cost. These are the previously used of girls who have outgrown the pieces. You can pay by cash, check or Venmo. Uniform Fitting May 15, 4-8, Edy Ridge Cafeteria THIS IS MANDATORY : this is the only night we will have our Varsity rep available to size the cheerleaders for their individual uniforms. Remember everyone will need to be measured for the new jacket.
Please have athletes come to fitting in a sports bra and Nike Pros or a swimsuit. Also, bring your patience. We have one rep who will fit each girl. This is a very busy night. The uniform fee will be due at this fitting. To help the flow of the night, please arrive in these time slots: K-2: 4:00-5:00pm 3-4: 5:00-6:00pm 5-6: 6:00-7:00pm 7-8: 7:00-8:00pm Cheer Boot Camp July 23-25, 6:30PM Our coaches host a Cheer Boot Camp in Snyder Park. This is for SYC cheerleaders only. This is not required, but we would love to see you and get everyone ready for the cheer season! This is for 5th-8th grade and it is a FREE camp. Overnight Cheer Camp August 5-8 in Blue River Oregon For SYC Cheerleaders 10+, there is an overnight Cheer Camp hosted by Oregon Dream Teams (ODT). If you are interested in learning more, please contact Sheri coachofcoaches@sherwoodcheer.org This is OPTIONAL but strongly urged for anyone trying out for comp. Total cost is $375 per athlete. This includes: lodging, food and instruction. $187.50 is due on May 13, 2018. Remaining balance is due July 18, 2018. All payments made to SYC. 8-10 year olds, invitation by coach only. Robin Hood Festival The Robin Hood Festival is not mandatory, but it is a tradition for SYC. If you are on vacation, we completely understand. If you are in town, this is a great way to kick off the season and show our community your spirit! We decorate vehicles and the cheerleaders have an amazing time. Practices: July 16, 18 and 20, 6:30-8:00PM, Sherwood Middle School Track - if you choose to be in the parade you MUST be present at all 3 practices. Conflicts speak to your coach. Parade: Saturday, July 21. We will meet at 9 AM at the Walmart Drive Up Pharmacy Area. Pick up after the parade will be at the same location. Uniform: TBD, more details at the first practice. 8 th Graders at the Parade: Our 8 th grade Cheerleaders will be performing with the High School Cheerleaders. There will be a few practices scheduled with them, details to come. Cheer Pictures We are pleased to have Happenstance Photography as our photographer this year. The package is $50 comes with a printed color 8 x10 plus a digital download of cheerleader and team photo. Date and location TBD. Fundraisers 1) Mandatory Fundraiser : Cookie Dough Fundraiser is MANDATORY! Cheerleaders must sell 25 boxes of Cookie Dough (this is the minimum amount). If your cheerleader does not sell this amount, there will be a chart to show the balance you will have to pay. We offer an Opt Out option that is $200.00. More information will be shared on Kick Off night. There are two ways to participate in this fundraiser: Pre-Order Option: We encourage you to ask family, friends and neighbors to pre-order the two card types. You collect the money as you sell and maintain your log of who has purchased which cards. You will then purchase the cards at their original value and you keep the profit to apply towards your fees. Buy in Advance Option: You may choose to buy a set of cards before you have sold them. You will buy them at their original value and as you sell them, you keep the profit to apply towards your fees. More details to come, but this will help your competition fees and just in time for the holidays! 4) Dine Out with SYC : We schedule a Dine Out event at a Sherwood restaurant each month. In addition to helping local businesses, a percentage of the proceeds are donated to SYC. We encourage you to attend and invite friends and family (everyone enjoys a night off from cooking!). We have enjoyed three Dine Outs already you will treasure the family spirit and seeing the cheerleaders grow closer together. These events will be added monthly the SYC online calendar with social media and email reminders. Attached is a handy chart of upcoming events as currently planned. Over the course of the season, more events will be added and some may change; please confirm with the online calendar or by asking on the SYC FB page! Other Important Details DO NOT get your child s ears pierced until after the season ends. We will have to be mean and are required to take them out by OCCA rules. No exceptions. No jewelry of any kind allowed. We will check before line up. Nail polish or polish stickers are NOT allowed per OCCA rules. Gel and vinyl nail stickers are allowed if no lifting or chipping. Registration Fee : Our Registration Fee is $150.00. This is to cover coaches fees, tumbling costs, facility rentals and administration fees.
Credit Card Payments : Payments made by credit card have a 2% Handling Fee that will be passed on to you. We prefer you pay by cash, check or Venmo. Tax Deduction : We are non-profit organization. We do monitor our athletes social media accounts. Team Communications : Coaches and Tionna (Volunteer Coordinator) will do the majority of the communication with parents. TVYFL Weather Cancellations : Sherwood Youth Cheer will follow Tualatin Valley Youth Football for all weather related cancellations. Please ensure that we have both your cell phone number for text messages & phone calls, AND your email address. Sometimes these decisions are made last minute and we want to let you know as soon as we do. Bonding Days : These will be scheduled throughout the season; Coaches will let you know dates and times. Your Cheerleader may be asked to provide money to participate in these activities. SYC Family Sherwood Youth Cheer is a FAMILY. There will be triumphs and tribulations during the season, please keep lines of communication open and positive. 24 Hour Rule : Issues and concerns may arise during the season with Cheerleaders or parents involving other Cheerleaders, Coaches, Team Parents, Parents or Board Members. We ask that you wait at least 24 Hours to bring the issues and concerns to your Coach or SYC Board Member(s) so that your side is heard clearly and not in anger. Code of Conduct : The Code of Conduct (COC) that you and your child will sign is taken very seriously. We ask that you sit down and read this together before signing. Our coaches carry a COC with them at all times and will refer to this as needed if issues arise. Registration know all : reviewing payment due dates as well as options to pay. NEW OPTIONS added!
