COLORADO ROCKIES (8-7) vs. LOS ANGELES DODGERS (10-6) RHP Jon Gray (2016 debut) vs. LHP Scott Kazmir (1-1, 6.43) Game #16 / Home #7 Friday, April 22, 2016 SOMETIMES IT SNOWS IN APRIL After a 3-3 road trip, the Colorado Rockies return home for a two-team, seven-game homestand host the Los Angeles Dodgers three times this weekend, then play the Pittsburgh Pirates four games. On the first extended road trip of the season, the Rockies took two of three at Chicago s Wrigley Field they dropped two of three at Cincinnati. I HATE U The Rockies and Dodgers play 19 times this season, 10 in Los Angeles and nine at Coors Field play three times this weekend and don t play again till the second week in June when Colorado visits Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers won 11 of 19 meetings last year Colorado was 5-4 at home, 3-7 in LA. Colorado won the final three meetings last year, Sept. 25-27, and also won four of the last five, five of the past seven and six of nine a win tonight would give the Rockies four consecutive wins over Los Angeles for the first time since 2010 (Aug. 28-Sept. 18). Carlos Gonzalez 19 home runs vs. the Dodgers rank tied for third among active players his 61 RBI are sixth, while the.325 batting average vs. LAD (99-for-305) is fourth CarGo s slugging percentage vs. Los Angeles is second. SIGN O THE TIMES Dodgers starter Scott Kazmir has made only one other start at Coors Field a 7-4 win on June 17, 2007 he has only faced three players on the Rockies active 25-man roster: Brandon Barnes (1-for-4, HR), Carlos Gonzalez (0-for-5) and Ryan Raburn (3-for-18). DELIRIOUS Colorado begins a stretch of 20 consecutive games until their next off day, May 12. Since the start of the 16 campaign, the Rockies have had three off days, April 7, April 11 and yesterday, April 21. The Rockies play the Dodgers (April 22-24) and Pittsburgh (April 25-28) at home, then travel to Arizona (April 29-May 1), San Diego (May 2-4) and San Francisco (May 5-8) the Rockies long stretch ends with a three-game series at home vs. the Diamondbacks May 9-11. GETT OFF The Rockies starting pitchers posted a 3-2 record and a 2.45 ERA (33.0 IP, 9 ER) during the 2016 Rockies vs. Dodgers (0-0) Date H/R Result WP LP 4/22 H 6:40 p.m. MDT 4/23 H 6:10 p.m. MDT 4/24 H 2:10 p.m. MDT 6/6 R 8:10 p.m. MDT 6/7 R 8:10 p.m. MDT 6/8 R 8:10 p.m. MDT 7/1 R 8:10 p.m. MDT 7/2 R 8:10 p.m. MDT 7/3 R 2:10 p.m. MDT 8/2 H 6:40 p.m. MDT 8/3 H 6:40 p.m. MDT 8/4 H 6:40 p.m. MDT 8/29 H 6:40 p.m. MDT 8/30 H 6:40 p.m. MDT 8/31 H 1:10 p.m. MDT 9/22 R 8:10 p.m. MDT 9/23 R 8:10 p.m. MDT 9/24 R 7:10 p.m. MDT 9/25 R 2:10 p.m. MDT 2015...8-11 2015 vs. LAD at Coors Field... 5-4 2015 at Dodger Stadium... 3-7 All-Time vs. LAD... 161-217 All-Time vs. LAD in Denver... 90-101 All-Time vs. LAD at Coors Field... 150-205 All-time at Dodger Stadium... 71-116 COLORADO ROCKIES GAME NOTES facebook.com/rockies Colorado Rockies Communications Coors Field 2001 Blake Street Denver, CO 80205 www.rockies.com road trip April 15-20. recorded four quality starts while opponents hit a combined.186 (22- for-118) over the six games. Over the past seven games, the Rockies starters have tallied a 2.72 ERA (39.2 IP, 12 ER), getting five quality starts. From April 15 through Tuesday s first inning, starters allowed two earned runs over a 26.0-inning stretch, the third-longest string of its kind in franchise history the 02 club had two such stretches of allowing two runs or less April 28-May 2 (29.0 IP) and April 27-May 1 (27.1 IP). At Chicago last weekend, Colorado s starters allowed two runs over 18.0 innings (1.00 ERA). LET S GO CRAZY Carlos Gonzalez, who logged his 1,000th Major League hit Wednesday at Cincinnati, has hit safely in 13 of the team s first 15 games (.367; 22-for-60) average ranks fifth in the National League. 22 hits are tied for second in the NL. His 11-game hitting streak to begin the season ended Sunday going back to last season, Gonzalez had recorded a hit in a career-high 21 consecutive games. According to Elias, Gonzalez is the fourth player in the past 50 years to end one season with a hitting streak of at least 10 games and begin the next season with a hit in each of his first 10 games (also: David Wright, 2006-07; Ryan Ludwick, 2008-09; David Ortiz, 2012-13). I WOULD DIE 4 U Nolan Arenado is tied for second in the Majors with 16 RBI in fact, since the start of the 2015 season, Arenado s 146 RBI leads all MLB players by eight has 24 more RBI than anyone in the National League over that span. The NL co-player of the week (April 11-17) has hit safely in eight of his past 12 games, going 14-for-47 (.298) with five homers and 13 RBI sinceapril 14, he is 10-for-33 (.303) with four homers and 11 RBI. His six homers are tied for third in MLB behind Trevor Story s and Bryce Harper s eight. PURPLE RAIN Trevor Story s eight homers this month are the most by a National League rookie since St. Louis Albert Pujols also hit eight in 2001 the previous Rockies record was Clint Barmes and Brad Hawpe, each with four in 2005. The Major-League rookie record for April is 10 by the Chicago White Sox Jose Abreu in 2014. U GOT THE LOOK Trevor Story hit his eighth homer Monday at Cincinnati and is tied with Washington s Bryce Harper for the Major-League lead he went 27 at-bats between home runs. Only Major League player in history to hit home runs in his first four career games and the first player ever to hit home runs as his first four career hits. Is the first National League player to hit two home runs in his debut (sixth player overall), and the first player to hit two homers in his debut on Opening Day. Is the first player in MLB history to hit seven home runs over his first six games and he is the first player, rookie or not, to hit seven home runs over his team s first six games of a season is the first rookie who ever hit seven homers over a six-game span at any point of a season. Story is also the only player in MLB history to record six home runs in his team s first four games and the first player in history to record two games with multiple home runs within his first four career games is the first Major Leaguer, rookie or not, to hit six home runs over his first four games in a season. Home runs in his first four consecutive games is the longest streak with a homer to begin a season in Rockies franchise history (previous: Charles Johnson, three-straight games with a home run to begin the 2004 season) and tied for the longest streak in Major League history (also: Chris Davis, 2013; Nelson Cruz, 2011; Mark McGwire, 1998; Willie Mays, 1971). 20TH & BLAKE Saturday, all fans in attendance will receive the Rockies Monthly Wall Calendar, Presented by ROOT Sports Bike to the Game is back every Sunday home game beginning this Sunday, April 24 Purple Monday vs. the Pirates April 25, the first 5,000 fans through the Coors Field gates receive a Purple Monday News Boy Cap The Rockies 5K, Home Run for the Homeless, is Mother s Day, May 8. twitter.com/rockies twitter.com/losrockies PROBABLE PITCHERS Saturday, April 23 vs. Los Angeles Dodgers 6:10 p.m. MT RHP Tyler Chatwood (2-1, 2.79) vs. RHP Kenta Maeda (2-0, 0.47) ROOT SPORTS Rocky Mountain KOA NewsRadio 850 AM & 94.1 FM Sunday, April 24 vs. Los Angeles Dodgers 2:10 p.m. MT RHP Jordan Lyles (1-1, 6.00) vs. LHP Alex Wood (1-1, 4.50) ROOT SPORTS Rocky Mountain KOA NewsRadio 850 AM & 94.1 FM Home games broadcast in Spanish on KNRV 1150-AM ROCKIES AT A GLANCE Record...8-7 NL West Standing...T-2nd, 1.5 Home...3-3 Road...5-4 Day...5-3 Night...3-4 Current Streak...
