March Newsletter 2018 Happy St. Patrick s Day! What a fantastic Winter Beach Blast! I think that maybe it was one of the best! If you missed it, you missed a great party! Debbie Brown and her WWB Committee did a great job! The Black Water Rhythm and Blues band and Gene Hensley did an excellent job of getting the dancers on the floor. The table of food was full all during the night, no one went hungry, in fact some took plates home for a late night snack. Ronnie Jackson, the winner of the Igloo cooler full of assorted liquors, is my bestest friend and I expect him to share some of his winnings during SOS! We have to compliment the entertainment! The Smother brothers, Prince, 60 Minute Man, Connie and the Debettes, and the King (Judy Baker) were very good! How would anyone have known that was Judy? Check out the pictures that are posted on Judy Baker s Photos under our www.rockhillshagclub.com, Bob Klimas Facebook pictures or Mary Gregory s on www.shagdance.com. Don t miss our March St. Patrick s Day party on the 17th with DJ Butch Metcalf (who is one of the best). There will be a business meeting at 7 before this party. We are having a 5th Saturday Party on the 31st at the Elks Club downtown Rock Hill with DJ Mike McDaniel. We are now asking for volunteers to chair our 2019 ACSC Workshop, if you are interested in helping in anyway please contact Frankie or myself. Remember one and two, three and four, five six! Keep Dancing, Tommy Davis 2018 President

Kathy Mroz 2018 Social Director Chair Our Winter Beach Blast with the Blackwater Rhythm and Blues Band was great! Colonel Parker and his traveling show held a few surprises including our very own Elvis. Thanks to Debbie and all the hard working members! Also to Merrilyn for the beautiful decorations! I also would like to thank the club members for the great food and door prizes. Also anyone who donated items for the great liquor cart. This Months Activities are : Friday March 2nd - Meet & Greet DJ Pete Caskey Friday March 9th - Meet & Greet DJ Phil Long SATURDAY - March 17th -ST. PATRICKS PARTY -Special prize to the person wearing the most green DJ B.Metcalf - Business meeting at 7:00 pm. Friday March 23 - Meet & greet DJ Tommy Davis Friday March 30th --HAPPY EASTER NO MEET & GREET Saturday March 31st - 5th Saturday Party at the Elks Club on Main St. All Friday nights will be announced as to whether it will be line dancing or shag lessons. Hope to see all at the March Activities! Kathy

I will send out an email asking for door volunteers for this month s party. You will not be charged the entry fee for working 30 minutes at the door. Frank Price Sgt of Arms

WINTER BEACH BLAST Our 9th Annual Winter Beach Blast has come and gone. It was another fantastic Rock Hill Shag Club party. There was lots of yummy food, free flowing draft beer, and more shooters than you could ever drink. Our DJ, Gene Hensley, started things off spinning some great tunes. Thank you Gene for a terrific job. Then the hottest band around Blackwater Rhythm & Blues took the stage and kept the dance floor full all night. What more could you ask for? Well, let me tell you! We gave away over $600 in the 50/50 drawing and then raffled off a huge igloo cooler full of adult beverages, which I did not win. (Ronnie Jackson - the big winner - we will be looking for shooters from you all week of SOS!!) (The proceeds from the cooler raffle will start our fundraising for HOFF this year.) Thanks to all of you who donated the liquor to fill the cooler and also the money to pay for the cooler itself. It was fantastic!! Now, if all of this is not enough, we were also entertained by "Colonel Parker's Traveling Talent Show" featuring:

The Smothers Brothers, The 60 Minute Man, Prince, Connie & The Debettes, and The King himself - Elvis singing "Blue Suede Shoes". All of this in one night. And it could not happen without you all. Thank you all for once again stepping up to the plate. We had over 50 door prizes donated - and I mean really great prizes. However, I did not win any of those either. There seems to be a bad pattern going here. We need different tickets. We had enough water left to take care of the beach party at Spring SOS. You are some of the best cooks around. People always brag about the food at this party. I had one man tell me that for everything we give at this party, the price is cheap. You really do get your bang for your buck!! That was great to hear. We are doing something right. I do love this party. I am already looking forward to next year. It will be the 10th Annual so go ahead and mark your calendars for- FEBRUARY 16, 2019. As I have said before, but can never say enough, I have the best committee that anyone could ask for to put this party together. Most members are only asked to work a 30 minute slot the night of the party, but not my committee. Most of them are going from start to finish and then some. All the planning prior, the gathering of items needed, the set up, the tear down, and packing up takes a lot of hard work and dedication, not to mention having to put up with me through it all. Thank you to these very special people - my committee: Dennis Brown, Debra Ledford, Lauren & Marty McCauley, Dean & Judy Baker, Mike & Marita Copeland, Chris Davis, Maria & Steve Williams, Debbie & David Brown, Denise Johnson, Chris Stevenson, Dennis Rushing, Terry & Barry Branch, Merrilyn & Rich Harmon, Linda & Phillip Lewis, Loris Rushing, and Julia Davidson. It is my great honor to work with each one of you. It is wonderful to work with people you know you can depend on to get the job done. Again, thank you all, my club, for all your support for this party. It was another great success. I truly love this club and each one of you. Thank you for putting up with me. See you on the dance floor. Debbie Brown WBB Chairman
