Mohawk vs. Algonkian By Kate Preface: The main tribes in this story are Mohawk and Algonkian. This story took place in the land we now know as New York. The setting of this story was in the 1500 s-1600 s AD. The conflicts in this story are not real but, they could really happen. Mohawk vs. Algonkian Chapter 1: Enemies One day Strong Legs and Little Parrot were playing lacrosse. They were versing two brothers named Little Arrow and Big Arrow. Suddenly the lacrosse ball went on to enemy s territory but they didn t know it was enemies so they went to go get it. They saw tree carvings. So they went and looked at it, and it marked that it was Algonkian territory. The Algonkian were their enemies so they quickly started looking all over for the ball they couldn t find it, they started worrying. They couldn t find it, but they kept looking they heard a ruffling of leaves They were captured. Chapter 2: Stuck in a Cage Suddenly they were in a cage it was dark and cold. It was made out of thick sticks it was almost like medal bars. Just then a little crow came in and landed on their freshly picked crops, and knocked over all the Algonkian food.

They had a chance to escape. They tried to break the sticks, but they couldn t. They had no chance until Strong Legs kicked it as hard as he could and it started to crack. It broke, they were free. They started to run as fast as they could. They saw the signs in the bark once again, they knew they were close so they ran. Chapter 3: Freedom They found Strong Leg s and Little Parrot s mother and father. They were very excited to see them alive! They had a celebration for the boys coming back with the whole tribe. There were also many games! They went to sleep after a long night. At about midnight Strong Legs, Little Parrot, Big Arrow and Little Arrow heard a crinkling of sticks and ruffling of leaves. They went and woke up their parents, and they went outside and looked. They saw a group of Algonkian people. They were coming to ruin their territory because Strong Legs, Little Parrot, Big Arrow and Little Arrow went on their territory. They tried to stop them. Their village was being attacked! They woke the rest of the village to prepare for battle! They got their weapons ready. They started their battle they fought all night. The Algonkian are a very tough tribe. The Mohawk had started to win the battle. The Algonkian finally decided to retreat to their own territory. The Alkongian people left. Chapter 4: They all went back to sleep. In just a few short hours it was morning because they were up all night they were all very tired. Unfortunately, they had to do their jobs so they did but first they had

their breakfast. They all did their jobs. The children went and finished their lacrosse battle. When it became midday they stopped, had a break and had their snack! They went back to work. The children helped. They had a very long day, when they came back home they had their supper. They all gathered together and had a talk around the fire before night came. When night came they went to sleep. The next morning they had an Iroquois meeting. They went and met the rest of their main tribe (Seneca, Oneida, Cayuga, Onondaga and Tuscarora). They talked and agreed that they would protect each other. Also, they agreed to hunt together and make sure everybody has enough food. Chapter 5: When they got back home they had their mid-day snack. The kids decided to play lacrosse for a few hours. They went and helped their parents for two hours. They went and had supper and their talk around the fire about how tomorrow they were going hunting with the rest of the Iroquois. The next day they went hunting and came back with a lot of elk. They made sure everybody had some. They then noticed that Strong Legs and Little Parrot weren t there, they were lost. They were fighting each other and lost the group. They had to go back and find them. When they went back, they looked everywhere they had gone. They couldn t find them. Suddenly, they heard some yells, maybe it was the boys. They followed the yelling and it kept getting louder! It was the boys fighting. They found them and the boys finally stopped fighting. Then they went back home. After their talk around the fire, they went to bed.
