It was the third time this season Blackmon has scored eight points with eight previously against WIU at home and Northern Kentucky. He is shooting 60 percent from the floor with a team high ten steals. A.J. Riley scored in double figures for the fifth straight game and seventh time this season with 12 points at Western Illinois. Riley picked up five of his points at the free throw line as he leads the Panthers in free throw attempts at 55, which ranks eighth in free throw attempts in the OVC. Riley s season high for free throw attempts was 12 at home against Western Illinois. He is shooting 74.5 percent from the line. Aboubacar Diallo played in both games last week at Marshall and Western Illinois. At Marshall the freshman from the Ivory Coast scored his first collegiate points with a put-back basket. On Saturday at Western Illinois he picked up his first career blocks with two against the Leathernecks. Diallo averaged 3.2 blocks per game last year at St. Louis Christian Academy. He is currently one of three players in the NCAA from the Ivory Coast. Aleksa Novakovic saw his first action since the season opener at Indiana with five minutes on Saturday at Western Illinois. Novakovic s first career points will be ones to remember as he sank a 3-pointer and was fouled on the shot to complete a four point play. Novakovic was 1-of-3 from 3-point range for the game. Senior Luke Piotrowski was 2-for-2 on field goals at Western Illinois and has made three of his last four shots from the floor. Piotrowski added a season high three rebounds against the Leathernecks. After ranking ninth in the OVC in blocked shots last season with 31, Piotrowski does not have a blocked shot this season in six games. Eastern Illinois generated more bench production than its opponent for the third time this season on Saturday at Western Illinois despite the fact that the Panthers have missed two top reserves due to injury. EIU had 16 points compared to just nine for WIU on Saturday. EIU has missed the services of Demetrius McReynolds and Luke Norman for the past three games. McReynolds had scored 20 points with 14 rebounds in his last two games prior to injury. Norman scored five points against Green Bay and provides a break on the floor for guard Cornell Johnston who leads the OVC in minutes played at 37.2 per game. ONE OF THE NEWEST ROSTERS IN THE NCAA Eastern Illinois opened the season with one of the newest rosters in the NCAA. The Panthers are tied for seventh in the nation with the most newcomers on the roster entering year. EIU has nine new faces with six freshmen, two junior college transfers and one four-year transfer. Portland State, Tennessee State and Bradley lead the nation with 11 newcomers on their rosters for this season. PANTHERS SIGN KANSAS ALL-STATE GUARD Eastern Illinois men s basketball signed Kansas All-State guard Logan Koch. Koch averaged 14.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 6.1 assists last year at Mill Valley HS in Shawnee, Kan.
