Newberg Chapter Northwest Steelheaders Anglers Dedicated to Enhancing and Protecting Fisheries and their Habitats for Today and the Future Sept 2015 OFFICERS President Sean Derry 503-894-1367 Sean.nwsteelheaders@outlook.com Renee Johnson 503-866-1456 renee.nwsteelheader@outlook.com Secretary/Recorder Mark Grier 971-279-3382 thegrierzoo@comcast.net Treasurer Carl Patrick 503-545-1326 cdpatr@gmail.com DIRECTORS Membership Door Prizes Carl Patrick and Arlene Askey Newsletter Bob Askey 503-201-5330 Bob.Askey0313@gmail.com Past President Bob Askey 503-201-5330 Guest Speaker: Sean and Renee will do a spinner clinic and Seminar on bank fishing for Coho near Hammond, Oregon. *If you have spinner making tools bring them with you. Tips on fishing Hammond for the up coming Chapter fishing trip Saturday Sept 12. Tuesday, 8 th @ 7:00 pm, Chehalem Senior Center - 101 W. Foothills Drive. Newberg, Oregon 97132 Sean and Renee have a lot planned for this next year. They will go over some of the plans at the meeting Tuesday September 8 at 7:00 pm. Sean and Renee have a great fishing trip planned from the bank fishing for Coho salmon. This is near Hammond, Oregon. Location I believe is Fort Stevens State Park. If the parking area is in the state park will require a $5.00 daily use fee. We will try to send out a map. Renee said to bring hip boots or chest high waders. You will need to wade out a short ways. Have a chair that you can set on the edge of the water. It is a good idea so you can take a short break and still keep your spot. This bank fishing area is a popular spot so getting there and keeping your spot is important. Be prepared for rainy or warm weather. This time of year it can be either. Most mornings on the coast are cool and then by 10:00 am warm up if it is going to be a sunny day. Wind usually kicks up around noon or after. Sean and Renee will discuss other plans such as food and drinks. We might need people to bring popup shades incase of rain or a hot sunny day. The seven day forecast as of Friday 9/4 shows Sept 12 will be a sunny day high of 71 degrees. Wind at 10mph by 11:00 am. Only a 1% chance of precipitation. *Sean and Renee can also be reached at the following e-mail addresses. Sean: Sean.nwsteelheader@outlook.com Renee: Renee.nwsteelheader@outlook.com We are looking forward to an exciting and fun filled year!
