Freedom of Information request 755-12 I would like to know: a) how many reports there have been of alcohol and (or) football-related disturbances on trains within the Yorkshire region or at any station within the Yorkshire region for 2011/2012, 2010/2011, 2009/2010 and 2008/2009. b) of these reports I would like details provided of any damage caused to any rail operators' property or injuries caused to other passengers in each incident. c) For any football-related incident, I would also like to know which football club the people causing the disturbances claimed to be connected with. RESPONSE The following information supplied relates to Football related incidents. It is not possible to supply accurate data relating to alcohol related disturbances due to the way British Transport Police records crimes. Question a) Year 2008-2009 2009-2010 2010-2011 2011-2012 Football Related 126 89 95 92 Incidents Question b) 2008-2009 Of the 126 football related incidents there were 4 reports of damage: Fans began to punch and kick door on train causing damage valued at 300. Fans became disorderly punching the roof of the train coach causing damage to the train coach lights. The estimated damage cost was 150. On a train, a large group of 200 fans under escort a number of these fans begin to kick the train toilet door causing damage worth 200. Damage caused to a taxi at the front of station. Estimated damage caused was 350. Of the 126 football related incidents there were 3 reports of injuries:

A group of fans assaulted several rival fans causing minor injuries to both sides. Disorder between rival fans with bottles thrown leading to some fans receiving A group of fans drinking in the station pub became disorderly leading to staff calling police. Upon arrival one officer was assaulted by the group leading to Fan assaulted on train rail staff leading to Fan assaulted female passenger on train. No injuries caused. Two fans assault another passenger on train leading to Group of fans attacked passengers on a train leading to several injuries and due to contamination on the train it had to be taken out of service until cleaned. Large group of rival fans began fighting on station leading to at least 5 persons receiving injuries from the incident. A group of rival fans fought on the station concourse leading to several persons receiving injuries that required medical treatment. 2010-2011 Of the 95 football related incidents there were 7 reports of damage: A group of 30-35 fans were being escorted after causing damage to a public house and also caused damage to seats on train during journey. The estimated cost of the damage was 150. A group of fans caused damage to train windows and seats during journey. The estimated cost of the damage was 800.

A group of Barnsley fans caused damage to a train seat. The estimated cost of the damage was 100. Of the 95 football related incidents there were 5 reports of injuries: Fan threw a stone at rival fans waiting on station platform causing cut to his head requiring medical treatment. One of a group of fans grabbed a passenger by the throat causing Fan assaulted another passenger on train causing Two fans assaulted other passengers on station resulting in Fan assaulted another passenger causing hospital treatment. 2011-2012 ] Of the 92 football related incidents there were 2 reports of Damage: Fans caused damage to a toilet roof panel. The estimated cost of the damage was 150. Fans caused damage to a station sign. The estimated cost of the damage was 30. Of the 92 football related incidents there were 11 reports of injuries: Fans assaulted another passenger on train causing Fan, upon arrest for public order offence, assaulted the police officer causing Fans assaulted several passengers on train during journey. No injuries caused. Fan assaulted female member of staff on train. No injuries caused. Two fans attacked another passenger causing injuries that required medical treatment.
