Business Report Our ad for Granitecon made it into the latest IPMS Journal. It is also in the latest issue of Finescale Modeler. The Elks have been contacted and all is ready for our 7:30 AM arrival on the day of the contest. We still have a few trophy packs available for Granitecon. If they are all sold by September, we won t have to panic come October! Vinnie called and let me know that he has made up the judging forms. I have ordered the trophies. John Rauscher has sent out the vendor letters. Mac will once again be the head judge, and Pete will MC the event. Past president Fausto Hamden has graciously sent a check to sponsor the Connors Awards again this year. Tom Shanahan will once again notify the neighborhood eateries about the contest so they can be ready for the influx of business. This month we will go through the rest of the duties, looking for volunteers. The most important will be a set up crew. We need as many able bodies as we can get to be at the Elks by 7:30 for set up. I will have flyers with me at the meeting, so if you know of any outlets that don t have any or are running low, take a bunch and spread them around. Mac says to remind everyone who is participating in the pass the trash stash project that the finished models are due at this month s meeting. Member John Cook had a nice write up for one of his lighting sets in Finescale Modeler. I sort of took the wind out of his wife Icie s sails by showing off the article before she could! We are all proud of him and his efforts. We discussed the monthly raffle and Keith was happy to report it is running in the black for now. Those who made it to the Hobby Emporium show gave a brief report. There were 35 or so models entered, with lots of cars from the guys and gals from the Classic Plastic club, who are having a show October 5 th in Lawrence, MA. A rep from AK Interactives was on hand to show his products, and actually demonstrated their use on one of Tom Shanahan s models. Took an average armor model and made it pop with his weathering products.
We decided to try a club White Elephant table at Granitecon again this year. Chuck Converse will man it once again. This table is for club members to sell items they no longer want at good prices. See Chuck for how to get set up with him. The club gets ten percent of your take. There is a limit on how many kits you can put out there, so don t try to use this to sell off your entire collections instead of paying for your own table! This year we have decided to have a super raffle in conjunction with our regular raffle at Granitecon. Other clubs have had success with them. The club will purchase a few really nice kits and sell tickets for $2 each. A twist we will be using is that the customer will get to choose which item he is taking a chance on instead of the tickets going into one bucket. Last month Mac showed us how he bends photo etch for use on his models. He showed us the tools he uses and we discovered that there are different bending devices available in the marketplace. This month he will show off other options commercially available to enhance your models. He has asked me to bring in some items available for aircraft, so I will bring in some of the pieces I have in my stash. I hope some of you were able to take advantage of the Labor Day sale at The Spare Time Shop. This month I have included information for Hobby Emporium s September 27 th s Anniversary Sale. Chuck Converse has gotten his hands on an old Mattel Vacuform machine he is willing to part with for $45.00. If you are interested, see him at the meeting or give him a call at: 603-623-7096 If you want to purchase a club shirt in time for Granitecon, contact John Rauscher at: 603-529-5644 or at jvr@gsi.net Shirt prices for Polo Shirts are: small to extra large -- $21.50; 2XL -- $23.50; 3XL -- $24.50 Prices for Denim shirts are: small to extra large --$26.50; 2XL -- $28.50; 3XL -- $29.50 See you Monday night.
