CLUB SUPPORT JUNIOR CRICKET Under 9 We will be fielding two Under 9 softball teams in the DCB competition, this season. The competition will involve 6 a side games, played with a softball on a weekly basis. This format will bridge the gap between All Stars Cricket and Under 11 cricket. Games are likely to be played on a Sunday morning alongside Under 11 fixtures. Under 11 Small changes have been made to the format of Under 11 cricket but the game will still be played 8 against 8. Expect to see bowling from one end only! Once again, we will have two teams in the DCB JL competition. In the NEPL Under 11 competition, we have been drawn as hosts to Whitburn CC and South Shields CC. Under 13 One change to Under 13 cricket will see teams take to the field with only 9 players, however all 11 will be able to bat. The purpose behind fewer fielders is to create more scoring areas for batters. Again, we have two teams in the DCB JL competitions. We have entered the Under 13 NEPL Premier competition, which will involve playing 30-over fixtures against Burnopfield (A), Tynemouth (H) and Chester le Street (A). We also know our opposition in the early stages of two external cup competitions. We have been drawn away to Murton CC in the Richard Bainbridge Memorial Trophy while we will host Leadgate CC in the David Stephinson Memorial Trophy. Under 15 The Under 15 season starts on Sunday 15 th April 2018 with last year s Glenn Robinson Memorial Trophy final. Played as an Under 16 fixture, we take on Chester le Street CC at Bunker Hill (Philadelphia CC). There are no significant changes to Under 15 cricket in the DCB JL where, once again, we will play in Division 1. While we entered two teams in 2017, it has been decided that one team will best suit the needs of the club in 2018. Our NEPL 40- over games are away to South Northumberland CC, home to Chester le Street CC and away to South Shields CC. Under 19 There are no details for Under 19 cricket just yet, but we will enter this competition in 2018. Girls Cricket Throughout the season, we will enter into softball competitions for girls. More information will be available in the near future.

SENIOR CRICKET (Chris Ralston) 1XI The 2018 season will start on Saturday 14 th April 2018 with a home NEPL Premier Division fixture against newly-promoted Sacriston CC. Jarvis Clay will once again lead the team with Stuart Walker (Felling CC), Carl Watson (Horden CC) and Chris Ralston joining the club for the 2018 season. In the Banks Salver we are at home to Burnopfield CC while our T20 opposition comes in the form of Sunderland CC (A), Blaydon CC (H) and Felling CC (A). The team will travel to the winners of Whitburn CC and South Shields CC in the Profound DSCL Trophy 1 st Round. 2XI After relegation in 2017, there has been a captaincy change for our 2XI. Arron Watson will lead the team in the NEPL Third Division and will start with an away fixture against Seaham Harbour CC. The club will play host to South Northumberland CC and Felling CC in the NEPL 2XI T20 competition while there is also a home fixture in the Banks Bowl against Gateshead Fell CC. 3XI The 3XI captaincy has also changed hands during the off-season with John Appleby leading the team in the NEPL Sunday Division 2. The league season starts on Sunday 29 th April 2018 where the team host Stockton CC, and in the Banks Cup there is an away fixture at Burnopfield CC. 4XI Our 4XI is an additional senior team for 2018. Playing in the Hetton Lyons Sunday Cricket League, fixtures will take place on a Sunday afternoon and will provide more juniors with an opportunity to play the longer format of the game. This team will also create opportunities for any adults who may want to return to cricket. There are no fixtures released just yet but the season is due to start on Sunday 29 th April 2018. Senior Training Weekly training sessions will take place outdoor at Hetton Lyons CC on a Tuesday evening between 5.45pm and 7.30pm. Any players interested in playing senior team cricket in 2018 should make every effort to attend.

YOUNG LYONS ACTIVITIES Holiday Camps During 2018, we will be delivering a comprehensive programme of school holiday Cricket Camps. All dates and information will be available in the next few weeks, but we can confirm our Easter Cricket Camp information now. We will continue to deliver two-days of our traditional cricket camp (aimed at 5 to 13 year olds) while adding additional half-day activities focussing on specialist cricket skills (Wicket-keeping, spin bowling etc.). All activities will take place on Wednesday 11 th and Thursday 12 th April 2018 between 10.00am and 3.00pm. For more information, see the Holiday Cricket Camps page on our website that can be found in the Young Lyons Academy section. Outdoor Coaching We are currently in the process of finalising our outdoor training programme and information will be available soon.
