Clubs Play-Cricket Guide (March 2018) This guide has been compiled to help Cornwall Cricket League Clubs administer their play-cricket website. The registration of players and upload of full scorecards are both mandatory League requirements. There is also information on the new Play-Cricket Scorer App. It is an ECB requisite, as part of the accreditation process, for Premier League clubs to ensure they have a Welcome message, Ground and Clubhouse details, Contact and e-mail address and Teams information. This is ideal for all clubs to complete and maintain of course to aid visitors to your site. The Cornwall Cricket League Play-Cricket Homepage Contents 1 How do I become a Club Play Cricket Administrator? p2 2 How do I enter a summary level result on my Play-Cricket website? p3 3 How do I complete a full scorecard on my Play-Cricket website? p3 4 How do I Register a Player in the Cornwall Cricket League? p3 5 How do I administer pages on my Play-Cricket Site? p6 6 Add my Club s Twitter feed to my Play-Cricket website p7 7 Play-Cricket Scorer App p7 Page 1 of 10

Administrators can access full detailed illustrated Help Guides after logging in to Play-Cricket and clicking the new Help Guides tab at the top right of the Admin homepage. 1 How do I become a Club Play Cricket Administrator? Complete All 5 stages The first thing you need to do is register with play-cricket as an online member. Go to any play-cricket site At the top right click Sign up Fill in the form with all * the compulsory details. Your email address and a password is required. When you click on the Register button, you should receive an acknowledgment by email, with a link to validate your email address When your email address has been validated, you will need to sign in to the login page using the password that you created, and then accept Terms and Conditions before getting a message to confirm that your registration is complete. At this point, you are invited to select a club or county board that you play for so that an administrator can add your details to a member database. Click on the Select Club or Select County Board buttons to continue. Now find the club that you wish to join by entering the first few letters of the club or county board s name into the search box and then clicking Search Now click on the Select icon for the club that you are interested in from the results returned. The final screen informs you that an administrator will approve the application for membership of a site. Click Finish Stage 2 Your application will be reviewed by your club web site administrator, when he/she next logs on and enters the Admin Homepage. Stage 3 Once accepted you will be notified by email, automatically from your club s play cricket administrator, confirming your membership. Stage 4 Your club administrator then needs to give you Main Administrator or Results Administrator rights which only they can do. They will need to go into the Day to Day tab - Members - Members Database, Search select the name and change roles via the black hat icon in the Web Roles section. Once done you automatically get an email from the Club Administrator saying your online roles have been changed. Please note that if you grant administration rights to a member of your club's website, that person will have full access to change all the information on your Play-Cricket system so he/she must be a responsible member of your club. Page 2 of 10

Stage 5 You log in using your username and password (as set in stage 1) so ensure you remember and/or make a private note of them. When you successfully log in Login/Signup is replaced by your name. Click the arrow beside it and select Site Administration. On the first occasion you will need to accept terms and conditions. The screen then goes mainly black and white and you can administer the site from the left hand column including registrations, results and designing the various site pages via Site Builder. Use Edit Account beside your name to change your email address or password The sharing of usernames and passwords amongst club members is NOT advisable for obvious security reasons. Various club members can be given individual rights, Main Administrator or just Fixtures, Results, News Administrators etc. They must all be registered as full online club members however (as stage 1 above) and then allocated roles as appropriate (stage 4). 2 How do I enter a summary result on my Play-Cricket website? On the day of the match all the fixtures that have been entered for that day by CCL will move automatically from the fixtures area of your web site to the results area, allowing you to enter the scores. It is this information that calculates any league tables that are associated with the result or works out who progresses to the next round of a cup competition. To enter a summary level results take the following steps: 1. Log in and go to the administration area of your web site. 2. Next go to the results area in the left column under the default Day to Day tab. 3. Search for the result that you wish to enter Season Division (it defaults to the latest) and click the Edit Result icon. 4. Complete all the compulsory information (this includes the result of the game and each team's runs and wickets). 5. Click Save at the bottom and all the information will be updated in the relevant areas (club site, league site or cup site). 6. It is a League Rule to complete the full scorecard as below (manually) within 48 hours. It can be very simply done as the game progresses, or at its conclusion, by using the Play Cricket Scorer App (page 7). 3 How do I complete a full scorecard on my Play-Cricket website? Once the summary level result has been entered it can be locked by a cup or league administrator to prevent clubs from changing the information. However clubs can still enter a full scorecard which can be published on the site and will also generate comprehensive statistics on each team and player. To enter scorecards take the following steps if the Play-Cricket Scorer App is not being used: 1. Log on and go to the Site Administration area of your web site 2. Next go to the Results section in the left column 3. Search for result that you wish to enter (it defaults to the latest) and click the edit icon 4. Click the edit results pen icon. Complete all the compulsory information (this includes the result of the game and each team's runs and wickets). Ensure Team batted first is entered correctly 5. Confirm the players that played for each team (teams can be selected in the same way from the fixtures area before a game is played and this allows you to email those selected informing them of the game s details). To save time you can copy from a previous game. Select players either from the relevant squad or from N/A for all registered players. ONLY if not on the club database under N/A then click Unsure. Click Save at the bottom. Page 3 of 10

6. Complete the scorecard for each innings. This is done by amending the relevant dropdowns to select method of the dismissals and the players involved (fielders and bowlers) and then enter the numbers using your keypad Click Save at the bottom of each page. 4 How do I Register a Player in the Cornwall Cricket League? Play-Cricket League Registered Players instructions (Updated March 2018) The new player registration process allows clubs to see potential duplicate registrations and identify them Removes duplicates from the system. Improves transfer management giving leagues and club chances to approve and object. Introduces a cross league transfer process for the first time. This will reduce the load on administrators by providing all the information in one place and improve the quality of the playing data for the clubs, leagues and players by combining one of more instances of the same person. Clubs will also now be better informed of a players past when they wish to be registered and can avoid inadvertently attempting to register a player already registered for another club. For a simple new registration of a player for the first time there is no change to the process. For simple transfers there are now steps to allow clubs to select the duplicate player; objections and approvals are built in the workflow and the merge of the old and new records happens on a button press from the league when they accept the registration. For complex transfers across leagues a similar process is followed which each interested party being informed and having the ability to act. There are TWO different procedures to register a player. If he has NOT played for another CCL club follow A below. Page 4 of 10

A player can be transferred to play for his/her new club provided the transfer, fully authenticated, is received and recorded on Play-Cricket by 22.00 on a Thursday. That player may be selected to play from the immediately following Saturday match day. With the exception of Tier 3, there are NO transfers after 31 July until the end of the season. Page 6 of 10

SQUAD PLAYERS To make it easier for clubs to select players into teams and scorecards all players should be made Squad Players. They then appear beside the team selection list when adding a result, to easily import. Otherwise select from Squad - N/A when putting a team into a scorecard. All the club Registered Players should appear. 1 In the Member Database click the black hat beside the player s name. 2 Select the Squad Players tab. 3 Click the relevant downward arrows, highlight Activate and Click Save Go back to Member Database, click on view player, and click Memberships & Roles at the top. Click View Roles. The player should then be listed as (1) Member of the Website, (2) Squad member/s (as appropriate) and (3) Cornwall Cricket League Registered Player. TO DELETE A LEAGUE REGISTERED PLAYER Apart from Player Transfers (see above) to remove a player/member go to your Play-Cricket Member database Select the player select Edit Roles and remove them from the Web Roles, Squad Players and League Registered Players Tabs. PLAYER TRANSFERS - DO NOT DELETE the player It will be dealt with by the League. IMPORTANT Members of the website with a * next to their name are members who have not yet registered at Play Cricket as a Registered Play Cricket website user. This is different to being a CCL registered player. Anyone who is a Registered Play Cricket site user will be able to log on and see the details of the Club and the statistics of their club and players. To aid player communications the ECB have requested that Cornwall Cricket League members/players should individually sign up for membership of your club play-cricket site (top right of each homepage) and tick the box to allow communications from ECB. This process is opposed to the default Temporary Player Membership awarded by clubs who register players themselves. Once a member/player has entered their details, and applied for membership, they can be been approved by your Club Administrator and are eligible to be given web roles on your site. They will also be able to receive the weekly Cornwall Honours Boards email from ECB TO VIEW A LIST OF ALL CLUB MEMBERS In the Member Database top right box select Member of the website as the role, then click Search. All names on the Club Website will appear, possibly over several pages. To see all CCL League Registered players only, change the role box to League Registered Players, then click Search. All CCL Registered Players will appear in list over several pages. To see all Squad players only, change the role box to Squad Players, select which squad from the sub-role box then click Search. All Squad Players will appear in list over several pages. Current Administrators can be searched likewise. In summary to play in the Cornwall Cricket League a player MUST BE a Member of the Club Website AND a Cornwall Cricket League Registered Player. Preferably he should also be activated as a Squad Member for the teams he is likely to play for. All players can be in all squads if preferred of course. CHANGE OF ADDRESS OR DATE OF BIRTH FOR CCL REGISTERED PLAYERS Page 7 of 10

For security purposes, this can only be actioned by either the player themselves if they are a registered Play Cricket website user OR by the Administrator of the CCL Play Cricket website. PLAYERS WISHING TO JOIN THE CLUB PLAY CRICKET WEBSITE AS A PLAY CRICKET REGISTERED WEBSITE USER These will appear in the Admin page list of nominations. The Administrator can then click on them and review/ approve the applicant. After that the member may see all the site and may be merged with an existing record if they are already showing as a member with a * against their name. MERGING MEMBERS RECORDS Select the name without the * next to it, select the match icon. Find the other member record in the list and it should have a * against it. Now select Match and the records will be merged together, the website should reflect this in approximately 1 hour. DO NOT DO THIS UNLESS YOU ARE DEFINITE IT IS THE SAME PERSON AS IT IS IRREVERSIBLE. 5 How do I adminster pages on my Play-Cricket Site? Your site pages can now be customised using Widgets. Basically they are blocks of content that can be positioned and sized anywhere on the page to your preferences. These might include text, photos, tweets, adverts, calendar, weather, teams, results, fixtures, RSS feeds etc. Administrators need to sign in as normal using your existing username and password. Click Log in /Sign up in the top right hand corner. Once signed in click the arrow beside your name in the top right corner and click Administration in the drop down box. The various editable sections are in the left column. Use Site Builder with the tools (in gray on the very top line) to build the site as you wish. Play Cricket Site Builder >Site Widgets Pages (Home). The default Welcome message is already on the homepage. Customise by clicking the cross when hovering over the widget. The text box then appears to edit to your needs. Go to Site Add Images Add Header Image to upload your own header picture to replace the default shot. The header picture ideally needs to be cropped to 1170px wide and only 150px high to work. Normal proportioned photos get distorted. Therefore the likes of a standard two row team photos don t work. In Site you can also create a Title, Tagline and pick a page background colour. Ensure About Us is up to date with your club information. Fixtures All League and Cup are automatically uploaded by the League but you can add your own friendlies and other games. Members take you to the Members Database and League Registered Players lists. The Calendar can highlight all your club events To add your club Latest News articles go to Information Board News Add News. The League can also export general news items automatically to each club site. It is recommended to study the Help Guides at the bottom of the left hand column. There are plenty of tutorial pdfs plus YouTube videos to guide you through every procedure. Page 8 of 10

The Admin Forums lists various discussions by Administrators nationally with Helpdesk responses. 6 Add my Club s Twitter feed to my Play-Cricket website Twitter Account Holder - sign in to Twitter In Settings and Help (top bar) Click Settings Select Widgets on the left column Create new Customise then Create widget Copy the html code Go to you play-cricket website and enter Administration Enter Site Builder which takes you to the homepage At the very top select Widgets then HTML Click the blue html icon then paste in the raw html code copied onto your clipboard Set position of widget and ensure you Save Widget at the bottom. Check widget is positioned correctly on the page and showing your timeline feed Links to your Facebook site can be similarly done by uploading a Facebook button from a website search. Select a button (some are free) Enter your URL, copy the produced html code into a play-cricket html box and proceed as Twitter above. 7 How do I use the new Play-Cricket Scorer App? It is a free Download for Smartphones and Tablets on IOS and Android at https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/play-cricket-scorer/id1213190783?mt=8 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.playcricket.scorer&hl=en_gb Uploading to Play-Cricket To score and upload games automatically to play-cricket log in using your username and password as previously set up in Section 1 above. Providing you have a CCL Club Main or Results Administrator role you can then select a match for the next 48 hours that has already been set up on play cricket (all CCL League, Cup, MDEL & WPEL games are). Before the match starts select the Overs per innings / bowler, Toss details etc and select the players for each team from the visible play-cricket database just check the boxes for each player. In Settings ensure you select Sync Frequency either End of Over for automatic live scoring if you have internet access, or End of Match or Manual. If the match is scored at a venue without an internet signal it has been suggested as follows: Download the fixture initially where you have a signal - score the game as normal but don t save or end it. When you get back to a signal resume the game by ending it and it will upload. Matches not downloaded from play-cricket, or scored by someone without CCL Admin or Results rights, can also easily be scored by manually typing in the player names which are then saved for further games. Basically therefore any game can be scored by anyone with the app from county to the beach! ONLY games that are initially downloaded from play-cricket can be automatically uploaded via the app either during or at the end of the game. For other games scored on the app the scorecard can still be manually input to the play-cricket website and uploaded at any time in the normal manner of course by anyone with rights. Page 9 of 10

Scoring the Match The scoresheet, as it appears during operation, is shown below. You are prompted at the start of the match to select the two opening batsman and opening bowler. For each ball you simply tap one of the 14 circular icons at the foot and then confirm. e.g. for a dot ball tap dot ball & confirm or for 4 byes tap bye, 4 & confirm. At the end of the over you confirm and then select the next bowler. All the maths are done for you and you can toggle to show the standard scorecard of dismissals. At the conclusion of the match the card can be saved as a pdf and easily distributed as required. The clever bit is that providing you have internet access the live score can be synced to your playcricket website either over by over or at the end of the match. Personally I would also record the details of dismissals and balls faced etc on hard copy score sheets as a backup. Without having to do the continuous maths and cross checking there will be plenty of time during the game. The app has full Help instructions for reference. Play-Cricket have stated Play-Cricket Scorer also allows the user to live broadcast match events on social media and Play-Cricket.com, while the app's ever-increasing functionality will enable the creation of scoring worms and wagon wheels during games. Extensively tested in in-game situations with Association of Cricket Officials (ACO) input, the app will be a quick and hassle-free way for captains and administrators to record all their club s matches and is built to cope with different points systems and rain-affected games.
